The 5th ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security was held in San Francisco, California from November 2 to November 5, 1998. The annual ACM Computer and Communications Security Conference is a leading international forum for information security researchers, practitioners, developers, and users to explore cutting-edge ideas and results, and to exchange techniques, tools, and experiences.

Crypto '98 was the eighteenth in a series of workshops on cryptology held in Santa Barbara, California on August 23-27, 1998 and was sponsored by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), in cooperation with the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Security and Privacy, and the Computer Science Department of the University of California, Santa Barbara. The program for the workshop covered all aspects of cryptology.

EUROCRYPT '98, the 15th Annual EUROCRYPT conference on the theory and applications of cryptologic techniques, was organized by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR). The conference was held on May 31 - June 4, 1998, in Helsinki, Finland.

The 7th USENIX Security Symposium was held on January 26-29, 1998 in San Antonio, Texas. The USENIX Security Symposium brought together researchers, practitioners, system administrators, system programmers, and others interested in the latest advances in the security of computer systems and networks.

Crypto '97 was the seventeenth in a series of workshops on cryptology held in Santa Barbara, California on August 17-21, 1997 and was sponsored by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), in cooperation with the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Security and Privacy, and the Computer Science Department of the University of California, Santa Barbara. The program for the workshop covered all aspects of cryptology.

EUROCRYPT '97, the 14th Annual EUROCRYPT conference on the theory and applications of cryptologic techniques, was organized by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR). The conference was held May 11-15, 1997, in Konstanz, Germany.

Crypto '96 was the sixteenth in a series of workshops on cryptology held in Santa Barbara, California on August 18-22, 1996 and was sponsored by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), in cooperation with the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Security and Privacy, and the Computer Science Department of the University of California, Santa Barbara. The program for the workshop covered all aspects of cryptology.

The Computer Security Foundations Workshop VI was held during June 10--12, 1996 in County Kerry, Ireland. This is an annual workshop with the purpose of ``bring[ing] together researchers to explore fundamental issues in computer security'' [13]. Every year since its inception, the workshop has been limited to forty participants, the majority of whom present papers or speak on panels. The setting is informal with plenty of time for technical discussion.

The 3rd ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security was held in New Delhi, India from March 14 to March 16, 1996. The annual ACM Computer and Communications Security Conference is a leading international forum for information security researchers, practitioners, developers, and users to explore cutting-edge ideas and results, and to exchange techniques, tools, and experiences.

ACSAC brings together cutting-edge researchers, with a broad cross-section of security professionals drawn from academia, industry, and government, gathered to present and discuss the latest security results and topics. With peer reviewed technical papers, invited talks, panels, national interest discussions, workshops, and professional development and training courses, ACSAC continues its core mission of investigating practical solutions for computer security technology.

This year's ACSAC will be held at the Sheraton New Orleans in Louisiana.
