*Research Scientist Positions in Real-Time and Embedded Systems in the RECOMP project*
The CISTER Research Centre is currently looking to strengthen its research team in the RECOMP project on all levels: Senior Scientist, invited Scientist, Post-Docs. Research grants are available.

*CONTEXT:*
Multicore processors have made their way into embedded systems and are about to move into safety critical systems. The final hurdle for the latter is the certification of multicores, which needs novel design approaches, as well as a fresh look at certification strategies. RECOMP is a multinational research project with several industry heavyweight partners, including Thales, Honeywell, EADS, TUV, Infineon, to name but a few and a substantial set of high quality SMEs and Research institutions, including the TU Braunschweig,
DTU and CISTER.
CISTER’s work in the project focuses on real-time systems. Potential topic areas to which you could contribute are • Operating System work in terms of power monitoring and energy management
• Scheduling and schedulability analysis in multicore systems
• Temporal isolation approaches for multicores
• Real-Time analysis of reconfigurable hardware
• Hypervisors/operating system support for multicore systems
• Contract-based real-time components
More info on RECOMP can be found at http://atc.ugr.es/recomp/ and on
CISTER at http://www.cister.isep.ipp.pt.

While the RECOMP project is considered the starting point a longer term employment is envisaged. The successful candidate is expected to develop his/her own independent research agenda, collaborate with other national and international institutions as well as within the group, and contribute to PhD student supervision.

*REQUIREMENTS:*
The candidate should have a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical and
Computer Engineering or related fields, with particular expertise in Real-Time Computing Systems or Embedded Systems. The candidate should also have a strong international publication record and demonstrated ability to do independent research. Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

*SALARY, BENEFITS AND APPLICATION PROCEDURE:*
The salary will be dependent on the qualification of the candidate.
Other benefits include access to private health insurance, social security and 22 days of paid vacation. Informal contact prior to the formal application is encouraged. So please contact Stefan M. Petters to learn about the application procedure.

*BACKGROUND:*
CISTER (Research Centre in Real-Time Computing Systems), established in 1997, is a top-ranked Research Unit based at the School of Engineering (ISEP) of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP), Portugal. CISTER was, in the 2004 and 2007 national evaluation process, the only research unit in Portugal, in the area of Electrical and Computer Engineering, to be awarded the highest rating of "Excellent". This rating was awarded on account of an outstanding publication record of its researchers, and CISTER is also considered to be one of the leading European units in the area of Real-Time Computing and Embedded Systems. CISTER is currently expanding, both in terms of research activities as well as in facilities, with a new building which not only doubles the current capacity of the centre, but also provides a better environment for research, technology transfer, and networking activities.
