=======================================================

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is a world-leading research
university specializing in engineering science & technology. The
Department of Electrical Engineering is responsible for research and
education in Electrical Engineering. The discipline covers
technologies end electrical phenomena involved in computer
engineering, information processing, energy transfer, and
telecommunication. The department strives for societal relevance
through an emphasis on the fields of smart sustainable systems, the
connected world, and care and cure. The TU/e is among the world's
best-performing research universities in terms of research cooperation
with industry (#1 in 2009).

------------------------------------
Electronic Systems group at the TU/e
------------------------------------

The Electronic Systems (ES) group is comprised of four full
professors, two part-time full professors, two associate professors,
three assistant professors, three post-docs, about 30 PhD candidates,
and several technical and support staff.

The ES group is world-renowned for its design automation and embedded
systems research. It is our ambition to provide a scientific basis for
design trajectories of digital electronic circuits and embedded
systems. Current highlights include:

- computational modelling & model-driven design flows: dataflow
analysis, scenario-aware dataflow, Pareto algebra, design-space
exploration, multiprocessor mapping, schedule synthesis, software
synthesis, high-level and logic synthesis;

- parallel & multiprocessor architectures: application-specific
multiprocessors, SIMD & VLIW architectures, GPUs, real-time networks
on chip, memory controllers, and SOCs;

- multimedia & imaging solutions: application-architecture co-design,
video processing, feature extraction, imaging for health and
intelligent traffic solutions.

- dependable networked embedded systems and sensor networks:
system-level performance analysis, QoS and resource management, and
optimized protocol stacks;

- system-level design solutions: real-time systems, virtualization,
mixed-criticality applications, adaptivity for energy, power,
variability, and thermal constraints, system scenarios;

- deep submicron integration: (ultra) low-power design, performance
optimization, manufacturability.

Our research results in tools and platforms such as SDF3, Octopus,
POOSL, MAMPS, CompSOC, and DRAMPower. The ES group has been very
successful in attracting funding for its research through national and
international projects and collaborations. Teaching

Education
---------
The ES group is strongly involved in the electrical engineering
bachelor and master programmes of the TU/e, as well as the automotive
bachelor programme and the embedded systems master programme.
Infrastructure

Infrastructure
--------------
The ES group has excellent infrastructure that includes individual
computers, compute servers, state-of-the-art FPGA and GPU farms,
sensor- and ad-hoc networking equipment, and a comprehensive range of
electronic-design software.

--------------------------------
The assistant professor position
--------------------------------

You are expected to conduct high-quality academic research that is
aligned with the research themes of the ES group, resulting in
publications in top conferences and scholarly journals. You will teach
courses at the bachelor and/or master levels (in English), and you
will be involved in supervising master, PDEng, and PhD candidates. You
are also expected to acquire external research funding from
(inter-)national funding bodies or industry. You should play an active
role in the ES group, and participate in international academic
networks and organizations. Prerequisites/requirements

We are looking for excellent candidates who meet the following requirements:
- A PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer
science from a leading university.
- Postdoc and/or industrial experience.
