Registration Open: Global City Teams Challenge Expo August 28-29, Washington DC
Dear Global City Teams Challenge (GCTC) community,
We are excited to announce that the registration of 2017 GCTC Expo is now open. The Expo will take place at Walter E Washington Convention Center on August 28-29, 2017. We are working with many federal agencies to make this event the largest smart city and community event hosted by the US federal government with over 100 cities and communities around the world. Last year, the event was attended by over 2000 stakeholders. The Expo is an opportunity for action clusters working with municipal governments to show off their accomplishments and to share the best practices and leverage each other's investment.
We also have a new GCTC web site with the updated list of registered action clusters and SuperClusters as of today.

We are still building the agenda, and will provide an update as soon as we make progress. The Expo will include:
- Keynotes from senior federal and local government leaders and industry stakeholders.
- Announcements of SuperClusters blueprints and playbooks to help cities and communities to jumpstart planning and deployment of best practices.
- Registered action clusters will be offered an exhibit space and a speaking opportunity free of charge (pending availability). Each action cluster should have a municipal government partner and technology innovators to demonstrate the benefits of the smart city solutions. To form a new action cluster, please contact Sokwoo.rhee@nist.gov.

Federal Smart Cities and Communities Programs Resource Guide Published
The Federal Smart Cities and Communities Task Force created the "Federal Smart Cities and Communities Programs Resource Guide" to facilitate collaboration and coordination between Smart Cities and Communities (SCC) Task Force member agencies, academia, industry, local cities and communities, and other government entities. The Resource Guide describes Federally-funded research and development (R&D) programs in smart cities and communities. These R&D programs seek to connect infrastructure and other physical technology with sensors, communications, and information technology --the essence of smart city and community solutions. Currently 35 federal government programs related to smart cities and communities are listed in the guide. This guide will be a valuable resource for cities, communities and stakeholders searching for relevant federal programs.
