The analysis shows how important Power Network Measuring and Characterization (PSMC) is to the plan. Networks planning and oversight for the transmission of electrical energy is becoming increasingly frequent. In reaction to the current contest of assimilating trying to cut charging in the crate, estimation, information sharing, but rather govern into PSMC reasonable quantities, Electrical Transmit Monitoring and Management provides a thorough outline of founding principles together with smart sensors for domestic spying, security precautions, and control of developed broadening power systems.Electricity supply control must depend increasingly heavily on telecommunications infrastructure to manage and run their processes because of the fluctuation in transmission and distribution of electricity. A wider attack surface will also be available to threat hackers as a result of the more communications. Large-scale blackout have occurred in the past as a consequence of cyberattacks on electrical networks. In order to pinpoint the key issues influencing power grid computer networks, we looked at the network infrastructure supporting electricity grids in this research.

The Industrial Internet expands the attack surface of industrial control systems(ICS), bringing cybersecurity threats to industrial controllers located in operation technology(OT) networks. Honeypot technology is an important means to detect network attacks. However, the existing honeypot system cannot simulate business logic and is difficult to resist highly concealed APT attacks. This paper proposes a high-simulation ICS security defense framework based on virtualization technology. The framework utilizes virtualization technology to build twins for protected control systems. The architecture can infer the execution results of control instructions in advance based on actual production data, so as to discover hidden attack behaviors in time. This paper designs and implements a prototype system and demonstrates the effectiveness and potential of this architecture for ICS security.

The industrial Internet platform has been applied to various fields of industrial production, effectively improving the data flow of all elements in the production process, improving production efficiency, reducing production costs, and ensuring the market competitiveness of enterprises. The premise of the effective application of the industrial Internet platform is the interconnection of industrial equipment. In the industrial Internet platform, industrial robot is a very common industrial control device. These industrial robots are connected to the control network of the industrial Internet platform, which will have obvious advantages in production efficiency and equipment maintenance, but at the same time will cause more serious network security problems. The industrial robot system based on the industrial Internet platform not only increases the possibility of industrial robots being attacked, but also aggravates the loss and harm caused by industrial robots being attacked. At the same time, this paper illustrates the effects and scenarios of industrial robot attacks based on industrial interconnection platforms from four different scenarios of industrial robots being attacked. Availability and integrity are related to the security of the environment.

Skanda, C., Srivatsa, B., Premananda, B.S..  2022.  Secure Hashing using BCrypt for Cryptographic Applications. 2022 IEEE North Karnataka Subsection Flagship International Conference (NKCon). :1—5.
Impactful data breaches that exposed the online accounts and financial information of billions of individuals have increased recently because of the digitization of numerous industries. As a result, the need for comprehensive cybersecurity measures has risen, particularly with regard to the safekeeping of user passwords. Strong password storage security ensures that even if an attacker has access to compromised data, they are unable to utilize the passwords in attack vectors like credential-stuffing assaults. Additionally, it will reduce the risk of threats like fraudulent account charges or account takeovers for users. This study compares the performance of several hashing algorithms, including Bcrypt, SHA-256 and MD5 and how bcrypt algorithm outperforms the other algorithms. Reversal of each of the results will be attempted using Rainbow Tables for better understanding of hash reversals and the comparisons are tabulated. The paper provides a detail implementation of bcrypt algorithm and sheds light on the methodology of BCRYPT hashing algorithm results in robust password security. While SHA-256 hashing algorithms are, easily susceptible to simple attacks such as brute force as it a fast algorithm and making bcrypt more favorable.

Though several deep learning (DL) detectors have been proposed for the network attack detection and achieved high accuracy, they are computationally expensive and struggle to satisfy the real-time detection for high-speed networks. Recently, programmable switches exhibit a remarkable throughput efficiency on production networks, indicating a possible deployment of the timely detector. Therefore, we present Soter, a DL enhanced in-network framework for the accurate real-time detection. Soter consists of two phases. One is filtering packets by a rule-based decision tree running on the Tofino ASIC. The other is executing a well-designed lightweight neural network for the thorough inspection of the suspicious packets on the CPU. Experiments on the commodity switch demonstrate that Soter behaves stably in ten network scenarios of different traffic rates and fulfills per-flow detection in 0.03s. Moreover, Soter naturally adapts to the distributed deployment among multiple switches, guaranteeing a higher total throughput for large data centers and cloud networks.

Zhang, Hongjun, Cheng, Shuyan, Cai, Qingyuan, Jiang, Xiao.  2022.  Privacy security protection based on data life cycle. 2022 World Automation Congress (WAC). :433–436.
Large capacity, fast-paced, diversified and high-value data are becoming a hotbed of data processing and research. Privacy security protection based on data life cycle is a method to protect privacy. It is used to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of personal data and prevent unauthorized access or use. The main advantage of using this method is that it can fully control all aspects related to the information system and its users. With the opening of the cloud, attackers use the cloud to recalculate and analyze big data that may infringe on others' privacy. Privacy protection based on data life cycle is a means of privacy protection based on the whole process of data production, collection, storage and use. This approach involves all stages from the creation of personal information by individuals (e.g. by filling out forms online or at work) to destruction after use for the intended purpose (e.g. deleting records). Privacy security based on the data life cycle ensures that any personal information collected is used only for the purpose of initial collection and destroyed as soon as possible.

Data Analytics is at the core of almost all modern ap-plications ranging from science and finance to healthcare and web applications. The evolution of data analytics over the last decade has been dramatic - new methods, new tools and new platforms - with no slowdown in sight. This rapid evolution has pushed the boundaries of data analytics along several axis including scalability especially with the rise of distributed infrastructures and the Big Data era, and interoperability with diverse data management systems such as relational databases, Hadoop and Spark. However, many analytic application developers struggle with the challenge of production deployment. Recent experience suggests that it is difficult to deliver modern data analytics with the level of reliability, security and manageability that has been a feature of traditional SQL DBMSs. In this tutorial, we discuss the advances and innovations introduced at both the infrastructure and algorithmic levels, directed at making analytic workloads scale, while paying close attention to the kind of quality of service guarantees different technology provide. We start with an overview of the classical centralized analytical techniques, describing the shift towards distributed analytics over non-SQL infrastructures. We contrast such approaches with systems that integrate analytic functionality inside, above or adjacent to SQL engines. We also explore how Cloud platforms' virtualization capabilities make it easier - and cheaper - for end users to apply these new analytic techniques to their data. Finally, we conclude with the learned lessons and a vision for the near future.

The recent experience in the use of virtual reality (VR) technology has shown that users prefer Electromyography (EMG) sensor-based controllers over hand controllers. The results presented in this paper show the potential of EMG-based controllers, in particular the Myo armband, to identify a computer system user. In the first scenario, we train various classifiers with 25 keyboard typing movements for training and test with 75. The results with a 1-dimensional convolutional neural network indicate that we are able to identify the user with an accuracy of 93% by analyzing only the EMG data from the Myo armband. When we use 75 moves for training, accuracy increases to 96.45% after cross-validation.

The world’s most important industrial economy is particularly vulnerable to both external and internal threats, such as the one uncovered in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS). Upon those systems, the success criteria for security are quite dynamic. Security flaws in these automated SCADA systems have already been discovered by infiltrating the entire network in addition to reducing production line hazards. The objective of our review article is to show various potential future research voids that recent studies have, as well as how many methods are available to concentrate on specific aspects of risk assessment of manufactured systems. The state-of-the-art methods in cyber security risk assessment of SCADA systems are reviewed and compared in this research. Multiple contemporary risk assessment approaches developed for or deployed in the settings of a SCADA system are considered and examined in detail. We outline the approaches’ main points before analyzing them in terms of risk assessment, conventional analytical procedures, and research challenges. The paper also examines possible risk regions or locations where breaches in such automated SCADA systems can emerge, as well as solutions as to how to safeguard and eliminate the hazards when they arise during production manufacturing.

Jattke, Patrick, van der Veen, Victor, Frigo, Pietro, Gunter, Stijn, Razavi, Kaveh.  2022.  BLACKSMITH: Scalable Rowhammering in the Frequency Domain. 2022 IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy (SP). :716—734.
We present the new class of non-uniform Rowhammer access patterns that bypass undocumented, proprietary in-DRAM Target Row Refresh (TRR) while operating in a production setting. We show that these patterns trigger bit flips on all 40 DDR4 DRAM devices in our test pool. We make a key observation that all published Rowhammer access patterns always hammer “aggressor” rows uniformly. While uniform accesses maximize the number of aggressor activations, we find that in-DRAM TRR exploits this behavior to catch aggressor rows and refresh neighboring “victims” before they fail. There is no reason, however, to limit Rowhammer attacks to uniform access patterns: smaller technology nodes make underlying DRAM technologies more vulnerable, and significantly fewer accesses are nowadays required to trigger bit flips, making it interesting to investigate less predictable access patterns. The search space for non-uniform access patterns, however, is tremendous. We design experiments to explore this space with respect to the deployed mitigations, highlighting the importance of the order, regularity, and intensity of accessing aggressor rows in non-uniform access patterns. We show how randomizing parameters in the frequency domain captures these aspects and use this insight in the design of Blacksmith, a scalable Rowhammer fuzzer that generates access patterns that hammer aggressor rows with different phases, frequencies, and amplitudes. Blacksmith finds complex patterns that trigger Rowhammer bit flips on all 40 of our recently purchased DDR4 DIMMs, \$2.6 \textbackslashtimes\$ more than state of the art, and generating on average \$87 \textbackslashtimes\$ more bit flips. We also demonstrate the effectiveness of these patterns on Low Power DDR4X devices. Our extensive analysis using Blacksmith further provides new insights on the properties of currently deployed TRR mitigations. We conclude that after almost a decade of research and deployed in-DRAM mitigations, we are perhaps in a worse situation than when Rowhammer was first discovered.

In this paper, the axial symmetry is used to analyze the deformation and stress change of the wheel, so as to reduce the scale of analysis and reduce the cost in industrial production. Firstly, the material properties are defined, then the rotation section of the wheel is established, the boundary conditions are defined, the model is divided by finite element, the angular velocity and pressure load during rotation are applied, and the radial and axial deformation diagram, radial, axial and equivalent stress distribution diagram of the wheel are obtained through analysis and solution. The use of axisymmetric characteristics can reduce the analysis cost in the analysis, and can be applied to materials or components with such characteristics, so as to facilitate the design and improvement of products and reduce the production cost.

In this paper, we tried to summarize the practical experience of information security audits of nuclear power plants' automated process control system (I&C). The article presents a methodology for auditing the information security of instrumentation and control systems for nuclear power plants. The methodology was developed taking into account international and national Russian norms and rules and standards. The audit taxonomy, classification lifecycle are described. The taxonomy of information security audits shows that form, objectives of the I&C information security audit, and procedures can vary widely. A conceptual program is considered and discussed in details. The distinctive feature of the methodology is the mandatory consideration of the impact of information security on nuclear safety.

In recent years, the epidemic of speculative side channels significantly increases the difficulty in enforcing domain isolation boundaries in a virtualized cloud environment. Although mitigations exist, the approach taken by the industry is neither a long-term nor a scalable solution, as we target each vulnerability with specific mitigations that add up to substantial performance penalties. We propose a different approach to secret isolation: guaranteeing that the hypervisor is Secret-Free (SF). A Secret-Free design partitions memory into secrets and non-secrets and reconstructs hypervisor isolation. It enforces that all domains have a minimal and secret-free view of the address space. In contrast to state-of-the-art, a Secret-Free hypervisor does not identify secrets to be hidden, but instead identifies non-secrets that can be shared, and only grants access necessary for the current operation, an allow-list approach. SF designs function with existing hardware and do not exhibit noticeable performance penalties in production workloads versus the unmitigated baseline, and outperform state-of-the-art techniques by allowing speculative execution where secrets are invisible. We implement SF in Xen (a Type-I hypervisor) to demonstrate that the design applies well to a commercial hypervisor. Evaluation shows performance comparable to baseline and up to 37% improvement in certain hypervisor paths compared with Xen default mitigations. Further, we demonstrate Secret-Free is a generic kernel isolation infrastructure for a variety of systems, not limited to Type-I hypervisors. We apply the same model in Hyper-V (Type-I), bhyve (Type-II) and FreeBSD (UNIX kernel) to evaluate its applicability and effectiveness. The successful implementations on these systems prove the generality of SF, and reveal the specific adaptations and optimizations required for each type of kernel.

Ensuring sustainable sourcing of crude materials and production of goods is a pressing problem in consideration of the growing world population and rapid climate change. Supply-chain traceability systems based on distributed ledgers can help to enforce sustainability policies like production limits. We propose two mutually independent distributed-ledger-based protocols that enable public verifiability of policy compliance. They are designed for different supply-chain scenarios and use different privacy-enhancing technologies in order to protect confidential supply-chain data: secret sharing and homomorphic encryption. The protocols can be added to existing supply-chain traceability solutions with minor effort. They ensure confidentiality of transaction details and offer public verifiability of producers' compliance, enabling institutions and even end consumers to evaluate sustainability of supply chains. Through extensive theoretical and empirical evaluation, we show that both protocols perform verification for lifelike supply-chain scenarios in perfectly practical time.

Modern web applications are getting more sophisticated by using frameworks that make development easy, but pose challenges for security analysis tools. New analysis techniques are needed to handle such frameworks that grow in number and popularity. In this paper, we describe Gelato that addresses the most crucial challenges for a security-aware client-side analysis of highly dynamic web applications. In particular, we use a feedback-driven and state-aware crawler that is able to analyze complex framework-based applications automatically, and is guided to maximize coverage of security-sensitive parts of the program. Moreover, we propose a new lightweight client-side taint analysis that outperforms the state-of-the-art tools, requires no modification to browsers, and reports non-trivial taint flows on modern JavaScript applications. Gelato reports vulnerabilities with higher accuracy than existing tools and achieves significantly better coverage on 12 applications of which three are used in production.

The industrial Internet has built a new industrial manufacturing and service system with all elements, all industrial chains and all value chains connected through the interconnection of people, machines and things. It breaks the relatively closed and credible production environment of traditional industry. But at the same time, the full interconnection of cross-device, cross-system, and cross-region in the industrial Internet also brings a certain network trust crisis. The method proposed in this paper breaking the relatively closed manufacturing environment of traditional industries, extends the network connection object from human to machine equipment, industrial products and industrial services. It provides a safe and credible environment for the development of industrial Internet, and a trust guarantee for the across enterprises entities and data sharing.

Flexibility and speed in the development of new industrial machines are essential factors for the success of capital goods industries. When assembling a printed circuit board (PCB), since all the components are surface mounted devices (SMD), the whole process is automatic. However, in many PCBs, it is necessary to place components that are not SMDs, called pin through hole components (PTH), having to be inserted manually, which leads to delays in the production line. This work proposes and validates a prototype work cell based on a collaborative robot and vision systems whose objective is to insert these components in a completely autonomous or semi-autonomous way. Different tests were made to validate this work cell, showing the correct implementation and the possibility of replacing the human worker on this PCB assembly task.

With the development of information technology, the Internet of things (IOT) has gradually become the third wave of global information industry revolution after computer and Internet. Artificial intelligence (AI) and IOT technology is an important prerequisite for the rapid development of the current information society. However, while AI and IOT technologies bring convenient and intelligent services to people, they also have many defects and imperfect development. Therefore, it is necessary to pay more attention to the development of AI and IOT technologies, actively improve the application system, and create a network security management system for AI and IOT applications that can timely detect intrusion, assess risk and prevent viruses. In this paper, the network security risks caused by AI and IOT applications are analyzed. Therefore, in order to ensure the security of IOT environment, network security and privacy security have become the primary problems to be solved, and management should be strengthened from technical to legal aspects.
