ECG signals are often corrupted by 50 Hz noise, the frequency from the power supply. So it becomes quite necessary to remove Power Line Interference (PLI) from the ECG signal. The reference ECG signal data was taken from the MIT-BIH database. Different filtering techniques comprising of Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Normalized Least Mean Square (NLMS) filter, Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter and Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) filter were used in this paper for denoising the ECG signal which was corrupted by the PLI. Later, the comparison was made among the methods, to find the best methodology to denoise the corrupted ECG signal. The parameters that were used for the comparison are Mean Square Error (MSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR). Higher values of SNR & PSNR and lower values of MSE & MAE define the best denoising algorithm.

Edge caching has received much attention as a promising technique to overcome the stringent latency and data hungry challenges in the future generation wireless networks. Meanwhile, full-duplex (FD) transmission can potentially double the spectral efficiency by allowing a node to receive and transmit simultaneously. In this paper, we study a cache-aided FD system via delivery time analysis and optimization. In the considered system, an edge node (EN) operates in FD mode and serves users via wireless channels. Two optimization problems are formulated to minimize the largest delivery time based on the two popular linear beamforming zero-forcing and minimum mean square error designs. Since the formulated problems are non-convex due to the self-interference at the EN, we propose two iterative optimization algorithms based on the inner approximation method. The convergence of the proposed iterative algorithms is analytically guaranteed. Finally, the impacts of caching and the advantages of the FD system over the half-duplex (HD) counterpart are demonstrated via numerical results.

Multiple transmit and receive antennas can be used to increase the number of independent streams between a transmitter-receiver pair, or to improve the interference resilience property with the help of linear minimum mean squared error (MMSE) receivers. An interference aware inter-cell rank coordination framework for the future fifth generation wireless system is proposed in this article. The proposal utilizes results from random matrix theory to estimate the mean signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio at the MMSE receiver. In addition, a game-theoretic interference pricing measure is introduced as an inter-cell interference management mechanism to balance the spatial multiplexing vs. interference resilience trade-off. Exhaustive Monte Carlo simulations results demonstrating the performance of the proposed algorithm indicate a gain of around 40% over conventional non interference-aware schemes; and within around 6% of the optimum performance obtained using a brute-force exhaustive search algorithm.

K. Naruka, O. P. Sahu.  2015.  "An improved speech enhancement approach based on combination of compressed sensing and Kalman filter". 2015 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Computing Research (ICCIC). :1-5.

This paper reviews some existing Speech Enhancement techniques and also proposes a new method for enhancing the speech by combining Compressed Sensing and Kalman filter approaches. This approach is based on reconstruction of noisy speech signal using Compressive Sampling Matching Pursuit (CoSaMP) algorithm and further enhanced by Kalman filter. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated and compared with that of the existing techniques in terms of intelligibility and quality measure parameters of speech. The proposed algorithm shows an improved performance compared to Spectral Subtraction, MMSE, Wiener filter, Signal Subspace, Kalman filter in terms of WSS, LLR, SegSNR, SNRloss, PESQ and overall quality.

In this paper, we investigate the performance of multiple-input multiple-output aided coded interleave division multiple access (IDMA) system for secured medical image transmission through wireless communication. We realize the MIMO profile using four transmit antennas at the base station and three receive antennas at the mobile station. We achieve bandwidth efficiency using discrete wavelet transform (DWT). Further we implement Arnold's Cat Map (ACM) encryption algorithm for secured medical transmission. We consider celulas as medical image which is used to differentiate between normal cell and carcinogenic cell. In order to accommodate more users' image, we consider IDMA as accessing scheme. At the mobile station (MS), we employ non-linear minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection algorithm to alleviate the effects of unwanted multiple users image information and multi-stream interference (MSI) in the context of downlink transmission. In particular, we investigate the effects of three types of delay-spread distributions pertaining to Stanford university interim (SUI) channel models for encrypted image transmission of MIMO-IDMA system. From our computer simulation, we reveal that DWT based coded MIMO- IDMA system with ACM provides superior picture quality in the context of DL communication while offering higher spectral efficiency and security.

Liming Shi, Yun Lin.  2014.  Convex Combination of Adaptive Filters under the Maximum Correntropy Criterion in Impulsive Interference. Signal Processing Letters, IEEE. 21:1385-1388.

A robust adaptive filtering algorithm based on the convex combination of two adaptive filters under the maximum correntropy criterion (MCC) is proposed. Compared with conventional minimum mean square error (MSE) criterion-based adaptive filtering algorithm, the MCC-based algorithm shows a better robustness against impulsive interference. However, its major drawback is the conflicting requirements between convergence speed and steady-state mean square error. In this letter, we use the convex combination method to overcome the tradeoff problem. Instead of minimizing the squared error to update the mixing parameter in conventional convex combination scheme, the method of maximizing the correntropy is introduced to make the proposed algorithm more robust against impulsive interference. Additionally, we report a novel weight transfer method to further improve the tracking performance. The good performance in terms of convergence rate and steady-state mean square error is demonstrated in plant identification scenarios that include impulsive interference and abrupt changes.
