Summer Internship Program
The Institute for Software-Integrated Systems' Summer Internship Program offers paid summer internship opportunities to current undergraduate and graduate students from both Vanderbilt and other universities. The Institute interns participate in a variety of projects that offer students challenging and engaging experiences. The internship duration is typically 10 weeks starting remotely on June 1, 2020. While the structure of each project is different, the internships provide:
- Opportunities to gain real world experience in applied research in advanced technical fields
- Experience with electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer science research
- Chances to work with premier universities, research labs, and industry partners
- Competitive stipends
ABOUT ISIS
The Institute is a professional research organization at the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering, located just off campus on Nashville's Music Row. Our work focuses on sytems, with deeply integrated software, that are networked, embedded and cyber-physical. We conduct cutting-edge, world-class research on real-world problems in the following areas:
- Model-Integrated Computing
- Distributed Real-Time and Embedded Systems
- Wireless Sensor Networks
- Model-Based Design of Cyber-Physical Systems
- Systems Security and Privacy
ELIGIBILITY
- Be an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited institution
- Have completed at least one year of college at the time of application
- Have an undergraduate cumulative minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Be 18 years or older prior to the start of the internship
APPLICATION PROCESS
- Applicants review project descriptions as listed on the project descriptions page and choose the internship that best fit their interests
- PIs review applications and offers are extended
- Applicants accept or decline the offer
- Selected applicants work with the VU-ISIS administrative team to complete onboarding task

The dates for the 2021 program are being finalized. The 2020 dates are listed below to give you a general idea of the timeline.
March 16, 2020: Application deadline (firm)
March 23, 2020: Latest notification of acceptance decisions
Program Dates: June 1, 2020 - August 7, 2020
