AbstractBitcoin is a cryptocurrency which acts as an application protocol that works on top of the IP protocol. This paper focuses on distinct Bitcoin security features, including security services, mechanisms, and algorithms. Further, we propose a well-defined security functional architecture to minimize security risks. The security features and requirements of Bitcoin have been structured in layers.
