Senior Lecturer positions in Computer Science at Linnaeus University,
with a focus on Engineering Self-Adaptive Systems
Linnaeus University is located in South Sweden. The University was
established in 2010 as a merger of Vaxjo University and Kalmar
University College. A core expertise of the Department of Computer
Science is in the field of Software Engineering with a focus on
Self-Adaptive Software Systems. In recent years, the team has gained
international recognition in different facets of engineering
self-adaptive systems, including models and processes to realize
self-adaptation, decentralized control in self-adaptive systems,
context-aware composition, and assurances for self-adaptation. The core
values of the Department staff are drive for excellence, creativity,
collaboration, and creating impact on the society.
To further strengthen our research team, we seek qualified and motivated
researchers for long-term positions. The holders of the positions will
participate in establishing an attractive, international learning and
research environment in computer science and software engineering, and
actively participate in efforts to raise external funding for research
and development projects.
To develop focused research in connection to the core research of the
department, the applicant should have expertise in one of the following
areas:
- Verification and validation
- Online reasoning and learning
- Control theory
- Security
- Model-driven engineering.
Formal qualification requirements:
- PhD in Computer Science or equivalent scientific qualifications
- Proven university-level teaching experience
- Fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
Other meriting qualifications:
Proven track record with a clear connection to the research core of the
Department (software engineering with a focus on self-adaptive software
systems) and experience in the supervision of PhD students are
particularly meritorious. Experience in participating in scientific and
educational cooperation projects at national and international levels
and experience in collaborating with industry are meritorious.
Social skills and flexibility to work in a research team, and interact
in teacher and student groups are of great importance. Good
communications skills, a constructive and open-minded approach, and good
administrative ability are other important characteristics. The
candidate is interested in scientific and pedagogic innovation as well
as activities and services for the scientific community and the
environment. Swedish is not a requirement but the applicant should be
prepared, within a few years to be able to take on tasks that require
the use of Swedish.
Assessment criteria:
The scientific and pedagogical competence will be valued equally. All
other meriting qualifications will be highly valued. We will specifically
evaluate:
1. Scientific skills to develop high-quality research in the department's
core research area.
2. Teaching skills in computer science at the undergraduate and graduate
levels
3. Social skills and flexibility to work in team
4. Experience in supervising PhD students
5. Track record from initiating and managing projects, and receiving
external funding
