About the Positions
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology invites applicants to a position as a Professor or Associate Professor in Systems and Network Security.
The position as Professor or Associate Professor is a full time tenure employment. The candidate is expected to reinforce and complement the department's research in Systems and Network Security. The applicant is expected to focus especially on security research for vehicles connected to the Internet, ICT in the smart grid, Cyber-Physical Systems, Cloud Computing, Embedded systems, Operating systems, and Mobile systems. Moreover, the applicant is expected to demonstrate academic leadership, ability to direct research, and to attract research money. A criterion for success is the extent to which the candidate's research programme stands our in uniqueness while at the same time linking to research that is taking place at the department.
The applicant is also expected to develop and teach courses within the department's international Master's program Computer Systems and Networks. One of the department's missions is to play a leading role in some of the Areas of Adavance at Chalmers: Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Transportation and Energy. The department expects that the applicant will contribute to and advance collaboration in these areas.
About the Department of Computer Science and Engineering
The Department has in total 76 faculty members including teaching staff and enrolls about 70 PhD students from more than 30 countries. The research spans the whole spectrum of computer science and engineering, form theoretical foundations to applied systems development. In particular, our security research is directed both towards theoretical foundations and application areas such as energy systems and vehicular systems. Required Qualifications
The employment can be at different levels, depending on the candidate's experience.
The position as full professor requires a ver high level of documented research. The applicant must have a strong research record and excellent credentials, not only in computer science and engineering in general, but in particular in the areas mentioned in the job description above. The emphasis in computer systems security is decidedly on systems rather than cryptography and theory. Experience from cooperation in international projects is a clear advantage.
The working language in the research group is English. The undergraduates are normally taught in Swedish, but the graduate level teaching is in English. Thus good language skills are required. Chalmers offers Swedish courses.
