5 PhD students for the European Industrial Doctorate Programme on Future
Real-Time Networks

Malardalen University in Vasteras, Sweden, is together with TTTech Labs
at TTTech Computertechnik AG in Vienna, Austria, launching an industrial
doctorate programme supported by an EU Marie-Curie grant. This
programme, RetNet - Future Real-Time Networks, aims at advancing the
state of the art and practice in predictable real-time and Internet
networking. RetNet is now recruiting five PhD students (Early Stage
Researchers) to investigate various aspects of real-time communication
networks targeting future embedded applications.

RetNet will be conducted in close cooperation of Malardalen Real-Time
Research Centre (MRTC), at Malardalen University (MDH), Vasteras, Sweden
and TTTech Computertechnik AG, Vienna, Austria. The programme is further
supported by the associated partners Vienna University of Technology,
Volvo Construction Equipment, Ericsson and ABB. The researchers will
participate in the scientific curriculum at MDH and gain experience in
industrial R&D at TTTech. All five PhD students will have both an
academic and an industrial supervisor supporting them in their
individual PhD research projects. Three of the PhD students will be
employed by TTTech in Vienna and two by Malardalen U. in Vasteras, but
all students are expected to spend part of their study/research time
also at partners other than the one they are employed by.

The five PhD-students will be specialized in

  1. "Deterministic Wireless Networks" targeting research and development of a wireless extension to TTTech's TTEthernet technology [Further details about this position at TTTech is available at: http://www.tttech.com/jobs-career/jobs/?yid=96]
  2. "Configuration and Management of Flexible Deterministic Networks" targeting research and development of new flexible network scheduling strategies bringing together the simplicity of time-triggered architectures with the flexibility of event-triggered ones. [Further details about this position at TTTech is available at: http://www.tttech.com/jobs-career/jobs/?yid=95]
  3. "Distributed Deterministic Computer Vision" targeting research and development on the exploitation of features offered by the real-time communication system for upcoming and future advanced driver assistance systems [Further details about this position at TTTech is available at: http://www.tttech.com/jobs-career/jobs/?yid=94]
  4. "Dynamic future real-time networks adaptation" targeting research and development of a prototype framework for efficient and effective adaptation of TTEthernet traffic for predictable real-time communication in more dynamic Internet-like settings. [Further details about this position at Malardalen U. available at: http://www.mdh.se/hogskolan/jobb/phd-position-dynamic-frtn-adaptation-framework-for-marie-curie-eid-retnet-project-1.45732]
  5. "Deterministic Secure Networks" targeting research and development of security solutions for wireless deterministic networks.
