Research Position Vacancy Federal Highway Adminstration
Our nation can't dig its way out of congestion; it's just too expensive to pave extra lanes. Operations R&D is about using advanced technologies and taking a multi-modal transportation system view for making our existing roads work more efficiently. If you have a background in research related to telecommunications, radio-navigation, and/or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), plus a strong desire to make a difference while growing your leadership potential, I urge you to apply for this job.
You will be working with extraordinarily talented people in a vibrant state-of-the-art laboratory here at Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center located in McLean, Virginia. You will become a vital member of FHWA's "Operations Discipline," that spans across the agency from R&D, to the Office of Operations, the Resource Center, Federal Lands Highways, and Division Offices. You will have the opportunity to work with other FHWA program and DOT modal offices, including offices of Safety, Infrastructure, Policy, Environment and Planning, the ITS Joint Program Office, FTA, FMCSA, and NHTSA.
The vacancy is for a Research Transportation Specialist (GS-13/14) in the Transportation Enabling Technologies Team.
