Visible to the public NSA 5th Annual Best Scientific Cybersecurity Paper Competition Poster

In order to encourage the development of the scientific foundations of cybersecurity, the National Security Agency (NSA) established The Annual Best Scientific Cybersecurity Paper Competition. NSA invites nominations of papers that show an outstanding contribution to cybersecurity science. A set of Distinguished Experts will review the nominations and provide individual assessments to the NSA Research Directorate. Awardees will be invited to NSA to receive the award and present the winning paper to an audience of cybersecurity experts.

Visible to the public Optimal Energy Procurement for Geo-distributed Data Centers in Multi-timescale Markets

Multi-timescale electricity markets augment the traditional electricity market by enabling consumers to procure electricity in a futures market. Heavy power consumers, such as cloud providers and data center operators, can significantly benefit from multi-timescale electricity markets by purchasing some of the needed electricity ahead of time at cheaper rates.

Visible to the public Cyber-Physical Sensing, Modeling, and Control for Large-Scale Wastewater Reuseand Algal Biofuel Production Poster.pdf

Rapid industrialization and increased pollution impose severe threats to the availability and quality of water resources worldwide. Currently, many wastewater treatment plants are discharging treated wastewater containing significant amounts of nutrients, such as nitrogen, ammonium, and phosphate ions, directly into the water system, posing significant threats to the environment. Finding a solution for effective treatment and safe discharge of wastewater has become an urgent and challenging task.

Visible to the public Integrated Safety Incident forecasting and Analysis

The proposed effort is a part of a global city action cluster team with the Nashville Fire Department and Metro Nashville Police Department. Both in prior research, as well as practice, incident forecasting and response are typically siloed by category and department, reducing effectiveness of prediction and precluding efficient coordination of resources.

Visible to the public From Whole-Hand Tactile Imaging to Interactive Simulation Poster.pdf

This project aims to enable cyber-physical systems that can be worn on the body in order to one
day allow their users to touch, feel, and manipulate computationally simulated threedimensional
objects or digital data in physically realistic ways, using the whole hand. It will
do this by precisely measuring touch and movement-induced displacements of the skin in the
hand, and by reproducing these signals interactively, via new technologies to be developed in
the project. The resulting systems will offer the potential to impact a wide range of human

Visible to the public CAREER- Multi-Resolution Model and Context Aware Information Networking for Cooperative Vehicle Efficiency and Safety Systems

Large scale deployment of connected and automated vehicles is impeded by significant technical and scientific gaps, especially when it comes to achieving real-time and high accuracy situational awareness for cooperating vehicles. This CAREER project aims at closing these gaps through developing fundamental information networking methodologies for coordinated control of automated systems. These methodologies are based on the innovative concept of modeled knowledge propagation. The approach is to utilize the novel concepts of model communication and its derived multi-resolution networking.
