The goal of this challenge is to use a quadrotor aircraft with downward facing camera, and possibly other sensors, to scan an area for a lost aircraft
"SoilScope"
IMAGINE:
Drylands form a significant portion of earth's surface, yet the surface processes affecting, and impacted by soil, are poorly understood due to undersampling. For the 2020 NSF Challenge, student teams will deploy and recover soil probes to measure properties that are of interest to ecologists.

The goal of the 2019 CPS Challenge is to use a quadrotor aircraft to scan an area for a lost aircraft and retrieve it
CPS Challenge 2019 - "No robot left behind!"
IMAGINE:
Your friend's quadrotor went down in a large field, and a storm is coming in. Looking for this lost drone needs a solution that could be repurposed to solve many other problems, like looking for a place to deploy a mosquito sensor.
The Hierarchical FSM is an extension of the Finite State Machine concept.
The Finite State Machine (FSM) is a design pattern in which actions are determined by events and the current context of the system. The driver code dispatches events to the FSM that forwards it to the current state. Functions processing the events decide what should be the next system state. After that, the process repeats. The Hierarchical FSM is an extension of the FSM concept.
GridLAB-D™ is a flexible simulation environment that can be integrated with a variety of third-party data management and analysis tools.
GridLAB-D(tm) is a new power distribution system simulation and analysis tool that provides valuable information to users who design and operate distribution systems, and to utilities that wish to take advantage of the latest energy technologies. It incorporates the most advanced modeling techniques, with high-performance algorithms to deliver the best in end-use modeling.
