Cyber-physical processors work in harsh environments and often suffer very high operating temperatures. High temperatures accelerate processor aging and increase failure rate. Effective thermal-aware management is required to meet the computational demands of the application while reducing processor thermal stress.
This project concerns real-time implementations of networked control strategies on distributed embedded systems. Co-design of the implementation platform and control strategies for multiple control applications is addressed. Limited and shared resources among control and non-control applications introduce delays in transmitted messages. Various aspects of these delays are efficiently addressed in this research. Overrun strategies that accommodate variations in the delays have been developed.

Patients with chronic illness require frequent and avoidable hospital visits. This project aims to develop a new class of battery-less, low-cost, disposable, wireless electronic patch sensors to monitor a variety of physiological signals and a custom smartphone app to monitor their health status and to elect to share their anonymized events-of-interest with their community towards a smart and connected community (S&CC).
