Visible to the public CPS-VO: Active Resources

Explanation of Demonstration: The central objective of the proposed research is to transform the CPS-VO from a collaboration platform and passive repository of information into an active resource that provides access to tools and methods emerging from the CPS research community. The project will make a significant contribution to education via support to student competitions that will help prepare a new generation of students who will be inspired and trained to realize the promise of CPS.

Visible to the public CPS-VO 2: Active Resources

The central objective of the Active Resources project is to transform the CPS-VO web portal from a collaboration platform and passive repository of information into an active resource that provides access to tools and methods emerging from the CPS research community. As a first step towards providing templates and infrastructure for the dissemination of open-source model libraries and a tool integration platform, we conducted a pilot CPS Design Challenge for undergraduate students from four universities, which was sponsored by Microsoft Research.

Abstract:

The Cyber-Physical Systems Virtual Organization (CPS-VO) was founded by NSF in 2010 to: (i) facilitate and foster interaction and exchanges among CPS PIs and their teams; (ii) enable sharing of artifacts and knowledge generated by the projects with the broader engineering and scientific communities; and (iii) facilitate and foster collaboration and information exchange between CPS researchers and industry.

Visible to the public The Cyber-Physical Systems Virtual Organization

Abstract:

The National Science Foundation established the Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) program with the vision of developing a scientific and engineering foundation for routinely building cyber-enabled engineered systems in which cyber capability is deeply embedded at all scales, yet which remain safe, secure, and dependable -- "systems you can bet your life on." The CPS challenge spans essentially every engineering domain.

Abstract:

The Cyber Physical Systems Virtual Organization (CPS-VO) is a broad community of interest for CPS researchers, practitioners and policy makers. The CPS-VO includes institutions from academy and industry, and people who work on a wide range of related disciplines with different approaches, methods, tools and experimental platforms. These entities are all interconnected and evolve driven by a shared goal, to advance our knowledge in the science and engineering of CPS.
