Abstract:
Despite the current emphasis on developing green buildings, the global energy consumption issue is not being adequately addressed. In this project, we propose a new perspective on this ever-threatening issue: NetZero energy building clusters.

The objective of this project is to develop a science of integration for cyber-physical systems (CPS). The proposed research program has three focus areas: (1) foundations, (2) tools and tool architectures, (3) systems/experimental research. The project has pushed along several frontiers towards these overall objectives. In the following, we describe selected accomplishments:

Abstract:
Overview: The human cost of transportation in the US reaches an unnecessary 33000 fatalities and 2.2 million injuries every year. The inefficiency of road transportation also burdens our economy, with only the cost of fuel wasted in traffic reaching $88 billion a year.

Abstract:
Transit hub is a city scale smart phone application that provides real-time, contextual transit travel planning services. It uses a centralized decision support system for integrating the different sensor data streams including the automated vehicle locator, the usage data gathered from the application, and other related data streams that are publically available.

Abstract:
Many safety-critical cyber-physical systems rely on advanced sensing capabilities to react to changing environmental conditions. However, cost-effective deployments of such capabilities have remained elusive. Such deployments will require software infrastructure that enables multiple sensor-processing streams to be multiplexed onto a common hardware platform at reasonable cost, as well as tools and methods for validating that required processing rates can be maintained.

Abstract:
Security and privacy concerns in the increasingly interconnected world are receiving much attention from the research community, policymakers, and general public. However, much of the recent and on-going efforts concentrate on privacy in communication and social interactions. The advent of cyber-physical systems, which aim at tight integration between distributed computational intelligence, communication networks, physical world, and human actors, opens new possibilities for developing intelligent systems with new capabilities.

Abstract:
This project is concerned with ensuring operational safety of complex cyber-physical systems such as automobiles, aircraft, and medical devices. Modern development techniques for such systems rely on independent implementation of safety features in software and subsequent integration of these features within system platform architectures. The current trend in developing these systems, driven by the need to reduce cost and energy consumption, is to share computational resources between different features.
