2017 National Workshop on Developing a Research Agenda for Connected Rural Communities (CRC17)
The University of Virginia is convening a national workshop to define overarching challenges, explore opportunities, develop collaborations, and build strategies toward a research agenda to advance quality of life in under-connected (medium, small, remote, and rural) communities. Specifically, discussions will be through the lens of how technology, communications, and networking can advance polycentric development. The meeting will bring together researchers, practitioners, non-government and nonprofit organizations, industry partners, government representatives, and community stakeholders to identify and articulate opportunities for high-impact research.
The meeting will be held at the Omni Hotel in downtown Charlottesville, VA. on September 7-8th, 2017.

Due to sponsorship by the National Science Foundation, invited attendees are eligible for a stipend to offset travel costs.
Position paper: Participation in CRC17 is by invitation only. Interested members of the community must submit a position paper in order to be considered for invitation. Position papers should explore challenges and opportunities around the topics outlined in the program agenda. Proposers can take one (or more) of the following approaches to composing the position papers: (1) articulating overarching challenges in rural communities, (2) describe ongoing relevant research, or (3) propose forward-looking research efforts/agendas.
