Fully funded PhD + Postdoc positions in AI/ML on Rhythm at University of Oslo, Norway
We are happy to announce several Doctoral and Postdoctoral Research Fellowships at the new RITMO Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Rhythm, Time and Motion at the University of Oslo within artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics:
Doctoral Research Fellowships in Artificial Intelligence on Musical/Human/Robotic Rhythm (1-2 positions)
The PhD fellow(s) will carry out research on artificial intelligence methods to be used in (1) the analysis of human/musical rhythm and/or (2) synthesis of rhythms in robotic systems. The project(s) may therefore range from focusing more on theoretical development and computer-based testing, to focusing more on developing machine systems (simulation and robots) that can interact rhythmically with each other and with humans.
Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Machine Learning on Time Series Data
The postdoctoral fellow will carry out research on novel machine learning methods for the analysis of time series data relevant for RITMO. This includes a large range of different data types, including audio/video recordings, data from motion and eye tracking systems, physiological sensors, and brain imaging.
Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Music Information Retrieval
The postdoctoral fellow will carry out research in music information retrieval on audio recordings, with a particular focus on temporal/rhythmic structures of large-scale musical works. It will also be relevant to combine audio-based analyses with musical score analysis and multimodal analysis of human time series data.
RITMO is a new Centre of Excellence funded by the Research Council of Norway. All RITMO researchers will be co-located and work in a unique interdisciplinary constellation, with world-leading competence in musicology, psychology and informatics. Read more about RITMO.
