Biometric security is the fastest growing area that receives considerable attention over the past few years. Digital hiding and encryption technologies provide an effective solution to secure biometric information from intentional or accidental attacks. Visual cryptography is the approach utilized for encrypting the information which is in the form of visual information for example images. Meanwhile, the biometric template stored in the databases are generally in the form of images, the visual cryptography could be employed effectively for encrypting the template from the attack. This study develops a share creation with improved encryption process for secure biometric verification (SCIEP-SBV) technique. The presented SCIEP-SBV technique majorly aims to attain security via encryption and share creation (SC) procedure. Firstly, the biometric images undergo SC process to produce several shares. For encryption process, homomorphic encryption (HE) technique is utilized in this work. To further improve the secrecy, an improved bald eagle search (IBES) approach was exploited in this work. The simulation values of the SCIEP-SBV system are tested on biometric images. The extensive comparison study demonstrated the improved outcomes of the SCIEP-SBV technique over compared methods.
Relevance feedback can be considered as a learning problem. It has been extensively used to improve the performance of retrieval multimedia information. In this paper, after the relevance feedback upon content-based image retrieval (CBIR) discussed, a hybrid learning scheme on multi-target retrieval (MTR) with relevance feedback was proposed. Suppose the symbolic image database (SID) of object-level with combined image metadata and feature model was constructed. During the interactive query for remote sensing image, we calculate the similarity metric so as to get the relevant image sets from the image library. For the purpose of further improvement of the precision of image retrieval, a hybrid learning scheme parameter also need to be chosen. As a result, the idea of our hybrid learning scheme contains an exception maximization algorithm (EMA) used for retrieving the most relevant images from SID and an algorithm called supported vector machine (SVM) with relevance feedback used for learning the feedback information substantially. Experimental results show that our hybrid learning scheme with relevance feedback on MTR can improve the performance and accuracy compared the basic algorithms.
Every so often Humans utilize non-verbal gestures (e.g. facial expressions) to express certain information or emotions. Moreover, countless face gestures are expressed throughout the day because of the capabilities possessed by humans. However, the channels of these expression/emotions can be through activities, postures, behaviors & facial expressions. Extensive research unveiled that there exists a strong relationship between the channels and emotions which has to be further investigated. An Automatic Facial Expression Recognition (AFER) framework has been proposed in this work that can predict or anticipate seven universal expressions. In order to evaluate the proposed approach, Frontal face Image Database also named as Japanese Female Facial Expression (JAFFE) is opted as input. This database is further processed with a frequency domain technique known as Discrete Cosine transform (DCT) and then classified using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). So as to check the robustness of this novel strategy, the random trial of K-fold cross validation, leave one out and person independent methods is repeated many times to provide an overview of recognition rates. The experimental results demonstrate a promising performance of this application.
Image retrieval systems have been an active area of research for more than thirty years progressively producing improved algorithms that improve performance metrics, operate in different domains, take advantage of different features extracted from the images to be retrieved, and have different desirable invariance properties. With the ever-growing visual databases of images and videos produced by a myriad of devices comes the challenge of selecting effective features and performing fast retrieval on such databases. In this paper, we incorporate Fourier descriptors (FD) along with a metric-based balanced indexing tree as a viable solution to DHS (Department of Homeland Security) needs to for quick identification and retrieval of weapon images. The FDs allow a simple but effective outline feature representation of an object, while the M-tree provide a dynamic, fast, and balanced search over such features. Motivated by looking for applications of interest to DHS, we have created a basic guns and rifles databases that can be used to identify weapons in images and videos extracted from media sources. Our simulations show excellent performance in both representation and fast retrieval speed.
Recently, cloud computing has been spotlighted as a new paradigm of database management system. In this environment, databases are outsourced and deployed on a service provider in order to reduce cost for data storage and maintenance. However, the service provider might be untrusted so that the two issues of data security, including data confidentiality and query result integrity, become major concerns for users. Existing bucket-based data authentication methods have problem that the original spatial data distribution can be disclosed from data authentication index due to the unsophisticated data grouping strategies. In addition, the transmission overhead of verification object is high. In this paper, we propose a privacy-aware query authentication which guarantees data confidentiality and query result integrity for users. A periodic function-based data grouping scheme is designed to privately partition a spatial database into small groups for generating a signature of each group. The group signature is used to check the correctness and completeness of outsourced data when answering a range query to users. Through performance evaluation, it is shown that proposed method outperforms the existing method in terms of range query processing time up to 3 times.

Outsourcing spatial databases to the cloud provides an economical and flexible way for data owners to deliver spatial data to users of location-based services. However, in the database outsourcing paradigm, the third-party service provider is not always trustworthy, therefore, ensuring spatial query integrity is critical. In this paper, we propose an efficient road network k-nearest-neighbor query verification technique which utilizes the network Voronoi diagram and neighbors to prove the integrity of query results. Unlike previous work that verifies k-nearest-neighbor results in the Euclidean space, our approach needs to verify both the distances and the shortest paths from the query point to its kNN results on the road network. We evaluate our approach on real-world road networks together with both real and synthetic points of interest datasets. Our experiments run on Google Android mobile devices which communicate with the service provider through wireless connections. The experiment results show that our approach leads to compact verification objects (VO) and the verification algorithm on mobile devices is efficient, especially for queries with low selectivity.
