The major aim of the study is to predict the type of crime that is going to happen based on the crime hotspot detected for the given crime data with engineered spatial features. crime dataset is filtered to have the following 2 crime categories: crime against society, crime against person. Crime hotspots are detected by using the Novel Hierarchical density based Spatial Clustering of Application with Noise (HDBSCAN) Algorithm with the number of clusters optimized using silhouette score. The sample data consists of 501 crime incidents. Future types of crime for the given location are predicted by using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithms (N=5). The accuracy of crime prediction using Support Vector Machine classification algorithm is 94.01% and Convolutional Neural Network algorithm is 79.98% with the significance p-value of 0.033. The Support Vector Machine algorithm is significantly better in accuracy for prediction of type of crime than Convolutional Neural Network (CNN).

Spatial crowdsourcing has stimulated various new applications such as taxi calling and food delivery. A key enabler for these spatial crowdsourcing based applications is to plan routes for crowd workers to execute tasks given diverse requirements of workers and the spatial crowdsourcing platform. Despite extensive studies on task planning in spatial crowdsourcing, few have accounted for the location privacy of tasks, which may be misused by an untrustworthy platform. In this paper, we explore efficient task planning for workers while protecting the locations of tasks. Specifically, we define the Privacy-Preserving Task Planning (PPTP) problem, which aims at both total revenue maximization of the platform and differential privacy of task locations. We first apply the Laplacian mechanism to protect location privacy, and analyze its impact on the total revenue. Then we propose an effective and efficient task planning algorithm for the PPTP problem. Extensive experiments on both synthetic and real datasets validate the advantages of our algorithm in terms of total revenue and time cost.

With the increasing popularity of geo-positioning technologies and mobile Internet, spatial keyword data services have attracted growing interest from both the industrial and academic communities in recent years. Meanwhile, a massive amount of data is increasingly being outsourced to cloud in the encrypted form for enjoying the advantages of cloud computing while without compromising data privacy. Most existing works primarily focus on the privacy-preserving schemes for either spatial or keyword queries, and they cannot be directly applied to solve the spatial keyword query problem over encrypted data. In this paper, we study the challenging problem of Privacy-preserving Boolean Range Query (PBRQ) over encrypted spatial databases. In particular, we propose two novel PBRQ schemes. Firstly, we present a scheme with linear search complexity based on the space-filling curve code and Symmetric-key Hidden Vector Encryption (SHVE). Then, we use tree structures to achieve faster-than-linear search complexity. Thorough security analysis shows that data security and query privacy can be guaranteed during the query process. Experimental results using real-world datasets show that the proposed schemes are efficient and feasible for practical applications, which is at least ×70 faster than existing techniques in the literature.

With the location-based services (LBS) booming, the volume of spatial data inevitably explodes. In order to reduce local storage and computational overhead, users tend to outsource data and initiate queries to the cloud. However, sensitive data or queries may be compromised if cloud server has access to raw data and plaintext token. To cope with this problem, searchable encryption for geometric range is applied. Geometric range search has wide applications in many scenarios, especially the circular range search. In this paper, a practical and secure circular range search scheme (PSCS) is proposed to support searching for spatial data in a circular range. With our scheme, a semi-honest cloud server will return data for a given circular range correctly without uncovering index privacy or query privacy. We propose a polynomial split algorithm which can decompose the inner product calculation neatly. Then, we define the security of our PSCS formally and prove that it is secure under same-closeness-pattern chosen-plaintext attacks (CLS-CPA) in theory. In addition, we demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy through analysis and experiments compared with existing schemes.

As the amount of spatial data gets bigger, organizations realized that it is cheaper and more flexible to keep their data on the Cloud rather than to establish and maintain in-house huge data centers. Though this saves a lot for IT costs, organizations are still concerned about the privacy and security of their data. Encrypting the whole database before uploading it to the Cloud solves the security issue. But querying the database requires downloading and decrypting the data set, which is impractical. In this paper, we propose a new scheme for protecting the privacy and integrity of spatial data stored in the Cloud while being able to execute range queries efficiently. The proposed technique suggests a new index structure to support answering range query over encrypted data set. The proposed indexing scheme is based on the Z-curve. The paper describes a distributed algorithm for answering range queries over spatial data stored on the Cloud. We carried many simulation experiments to measure the performance of the proposed scheme. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the most recent schemes by Kim et al. in terms of data redundancy.

Feedback loss can severely degrade the overall system performance, in addition, it can affect the control and computation of the Cyber-physical Systems (CPS). CPS hold enormous potential for a wide range of emerging applications including stochastic and time-critical traffic patterns. Stochastic data has a randomness in its nature which make a great challenge to maintain the real-time control whenever the data is lost. In this paper, we propose a data recovery scheme, called the Efficient Temporal and Spatial Data Recovery (ETSDR) scheme for stochastic incomplete feedback of CPS. In this scheme, we identify the temporal model based on the traffic patterns and consider the spatial effect of the nearest neighbor. Numerical results reveal that the proposed ETSDR outperforms both the weighted prediction (WP) and the exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) algorithm regardless of the increment percentage of missing data in terms of the root mean square error, the mean absolute error, and the integral of absolute error.

Miyoung Jang, Min Yoon, Jae-Woo Chang.  2014.  A privacy-aware query authentication index for database outsourcing. Big Data and Smart Computing (BIGCOMP), 2014 International Conference on. :72-76.

Recently, cloud computing has been spotlighted as a new paradigm of database management system. In this environment, databases are outsourced and deployed on a service provider in order to reduce cost for data storage and maintenance. However, the service provider might be untrusted so that the two issues of data security, including data confidentiality and query result integrity, become major concerns for users. Existing bucket-based data authentication methods have problem that the original spatial data distribution can be disclosed from data authentication index due to the unsophisticated data grouping strategies. In addition, the transmission overhead of verification object is high. In this paper, we propose a privacy-aware query authentication which guarantees data confidentiality and query result integrity for users. A periodic function-based data grouping scheme is designed to privately partition a spatial database into small groups for generating a signature of each group. The group signature is used to check the correctness and completeness of outsourced data when answering a range query to users. Through performance evaluation, it is shown that proposed method outperforms the existing method in terms of range query processing time up to 3 times.

Wenqun Xiu, Xiaoming Li.  2014.  The design of cybercrime spatial analysis system. Information Science and Technology (ICIST), 2014 4th IEEE International Conference on. :132-135.

Artificial monitoring is no longer able to match the rapid growth of cybercrime, it is in great need to develop a new spatial analysis technology which allows emergency events to get rapidly and accurately locked in real environment, furthermore, to establish correlative analysis model for cybercrime prevention strategy. On the other hand, Geography information system has been changed virtually in data structure, coordinate system and analysis model due to the “uncertainty and hyper-dimension” characteristics of network object and behavior. In this paper, the spatial rules of typical cybercrime are explored on base of GIS with Internet searching and IP tracking technology: (1) Setup spatial database through IP searching based on criminal evidence. (2)Extend GIS data-structure and spatial models, add network dimension and virtual attribution to realize dynamic connection between cyber and real space. (3)Design cybercrime monitoring and prevention system to discover the cyberspace logics based on spatial analysis.

Yinan Jing, Ling Hu, Wei-Shinn Ku, Shahabi, C..  2014.  Authentication of k Nearest Neighbor Query on Road Networks. Knowledge and Data Engineering, IEEE Transactions on. 26:1494-1506.

Outsourcing spatial databases to the cloud provides an economical and flexible way for data owners to deliver spatial data to users of location-based services. However, in the database outsourcing paradigm, the third-party service provider is not always trustworthy, therefore, ensuring spatial query integrity is critical. In this paper, we propose an efficient road network k-nearest-neighbor query verification technique which utilizes the network Voronoi diagram and neighbors to prove the integrity of query results. Unlike previous work that verifies k-nearest-neighbor results in the Euclidean space, our approach needs to verify both the distances and the shortest paths from the query point to its kNN results on the road network. We evaluate our approach on real-world road networks together with both real and synthetic points of interest datasets. Our experiments run on Google Android mobile devices which communicate with the service provider through wireless connections. The experiment results show that our approach leads to compact verification objects (VO) and the verification algorithm on mobile devices is efficient, especially for queries with low selectivity.
