The security proposed for Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) systems in the European Union is specified in the ETSI Cooperative Intelligent Transport System (C-ITS) standards, and related documents are based on the trusted PKI/CAs. The C-ITS trust model platform comprises an EU Root CA and additional Root CAs run in Europe by member state authorities or private organizations offering certificates to individual users. A new method is described in this paper where the security in V2X is based on the Distributed Public Keystore (DPK) platform developed for Ethereum blockchain. The V2X security is considered as one application of the DPK platform. The DPK stores and distributes the vehicles, RSUs, or other C-ITS role-players’ public keys. It establishes a generic key exchange/ agreement scheme that provides mutual key, entity authentication, and distributing a session key between two peers. V2X communication based on this scheme can establish an end-to-end (e2e) secure session and enables vehicle authentication without the need for a vehicle certificate signed by a trusted Certificate Authority.

A main type of Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET) and essential infrastructure to provide a wide range of safety applications to passengers in vehicles (VANET) are established. VANETs are more popular today as they connect to a variety of invisible services. VANET protection is crucial as its potential use must not endanger the safety and privacy of its users. The safety of these VANETs is essential to safe and efficient safety systems and facilities and uncertainty continues and research in this field continues to grow rapidly. We will explain the characteristics and problems of VANETs in this paper. Also, all threats and attacks that affect integrity and authentication in VANETs will be defined. Description of researchers' work was consequently addressed as the table with the problems of the suggested method and objective.

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) play a vital role in the development of smart cities. They enable various road safety and efficiency applications such as optimized traffic management, collision avoidance, and pollution control through the collection and evaluation of traffic data from Road Side Units (RSUs) and connected vehicles in real time. However, these systems are highly vulnerable to data corruption attacks which can seriously influence their decision-making abilities. Traditional attack detection schemes do not account for attackers' sophisticated and evolving strategies and ignore the ITS's constraints on security resources. In this paper, we devise a security game model that allows the defense mechanism deployed in the ITS to optimize the distribution of available resources for attack detection while considering mixed attack strategies, according to which the attacker targets multiple RSUs in a distributed fashion. In our security game, the utility of the ITS is quantified in terms of detection rate, attack damage, and the relevance of the information transmitted by the RSUs. The proposed approach will enable the ITS to mitigate the impact of attacks and increase its resiliency. The results show that our approach reduces the attack impact by at least 20% compared to the one that fairly allocates security resources to RSUs indifferently to attackers' strategies.

Road accidents are challenging threat in the present scenario. In India there are 5, 01,423 road accidents in 2015. A day 400 hundred deaths are forcing to India to take car safety sincerely. The common cause for road accidents is driver's distraction. In current world the people are dominated by the tablet PC and other hand held devices. The VANET technology is a vehicle-to-vehicle communication; here the main challenge will be to deliver qualified communication during mobility. The paper proposes a standard new restricted lightweight authentication protocol utilizing key agreement theme for VANETs. Inside the planned topic, it has three sorts of validations: 1) V2V 2) V2CH; and 3) CH and RSU. Aside from this authentication, the planned topic conjointly keeps up mystery keys between RSUs for the safe communication. Thorough informal security analysis demonstrates the planned subject is skilled to guard different malicious attack. In addition, the NS2 Simulation exhibits the possibility of the proposed plan in VANET background.

In VANET, vehicles periodically transmit beacon messages to the neighboring vehicles and the RSU. To establish the authenticity of these messages, a number of digital signature schemes have been proposed in literature. Many of these schemes enable an RSU to perform aggregate verification of the signatures to deal with high vehicle density scenarios. These schemes are either based on traditional PKC concept involving certificate management overhead or identity based cryptography having key escrow problem. Further, these schemes require the existence of OBU device which is resistant to side channel attacks. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical trusted authority privacy preserving certificateless aggregate signature scheme for VANET. In addition to providing message authentication, integrity and non-repudiation, our scheme is resistant to message forgeability attack. The proposed scheme assumes hierarchical organization of network such that vehicles operate under multiple trusted authorities (TA) which in turn are controlled by single root TA. Using our scheme, the entity could verify messages received from vehicles which operate under multiple TAs. The proposed scheme is free from key escrow problem and resistant to side channel attacks on OBU. It also possesses conditional linkability such that originator of a message could be revealed whenever required. Simulations confirm the efficient nature in terms of verification delay as compared to other well known schemes proposed in literature.

The key concerns in VANET communication are the security and privacy of the vehicles involved, but at the same time an efficient way to provide non-repudiation in the ad-hoc network is an important requirement. Most schemes proposed are using public key infrastructure (PKI) or symmetric key encryption to achieve security in VANET; both individually lack in serving the required purpose of providing privacy preservation of the involved On-Board Units (OBUs) (while still being able to offer non-repudiation) and amount to very sizeable overheads in computation. This paper proposes a privacy-preserving authentication protocol that employs hybrid cryptography, using the best features of PKI and symmetric cryptography to form a protocol that is scalable, efficient and offers services of integrity, non-repudiation, conditional privacy, and unlinkability; while still keeping the computational overhead at a reasonable level. The performance and security analysis of this scheme is provided to support the propositions.

Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) are a subset of Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs). They are deployed to introduce the ability of inter-communication among vehicles in order to guarantee safety and provide services for people while driving. VANETs are exposed to many types of attacks like denial of service, spoofing, ID disclosure and Sybil attacks. In this paper, a novel lightweight approach for preventing Sybil attack in VANETs is proposed. The presented protocol scheme uses symmetric key encryption and authentication between Road Side Units (RSUs) and vehicles on the road so that no malicious vehicle could gain more than one identity inside the network. This protocol does not need managers for Road Side Units (RSUs) or Certification Authority (CA) and uses minimum amount of messages exchanged with RSU making the scheme efficient and effective.
