Abdollahi, Sina, Mohajeri, Javad, Salmasizadeh, Mahmoud.  2021.  Highly Efficient and Revocable CP-ABE with Outsourcing Decryption for IoT. 2021 18th International ISC Conference on Information Security and Cryptology (ISCISC). :81–88.
In IoT scenarios, computational and communication costs on the user side are important problems. In most expressive ABE schemes, there is a linear relationship between the access structure size and the number of heavy pairing operations that are used in the decryption process. This property limits the application of ABE. We propose an expressive CP-ABE with the constant number of pairings in the decryption process. The simulation shows that the proposed scheme is highly efficient in encryption and decryption processes. In addition, we use the outsourcing method in decryption to get better performance on the user side. The main burden of decryption computations is done by the cloud without revealing any information about the plaintext. We introduce a new revocation method. In this method, the users' communication channels aren't used during the revocation process. These features significantly reduce the computational and communication costs on the user side that makes the proposed scheme suitable for applications such as IoT. The proposed scheme is selectively CPA-secure in the standard model.

Cloud computing facilitates the access of applications and data from any location by using any device with an internet connection. It enables multiple applications and users to access the same data resources. Cloud based information sharing is a technique that allows researchers to communicate and collaborate, that leads to major new developments in the field. It also enables users to access data over the cloud easily and conveniently. Privacy, authenticity and confidentiality are the three main challenges while sharing data in cloud. There are many methods which support secure data sharing in cloud environment such as Attribute Based Encryption(ABE), Role Based Encryption, Hierarchical Based Encryption, and Identity Based Encryption. ABE provides secure access control mechanisms for integrity. It is classified as Key Policy Attribute Based Encryption(KP-ABE) and Ciphertext Policy Attribute Based Encryption(CP-ABE) based on access policy integration. In KPABE, access structure is incorporated with user's private key, and data are encrypted over a defined attributes. Moreover, in CPABE, access structure is embedded with ciphertext. This paper reviews CP-ABE methods that have been developed so far for achieving secured data sharing in cloud environment.
Guo, Rui, Yang, Geng, Shi, Huixian, Zhang, Yinghui, Zheng, Dong.  2021.  O3-R-CP-ABE: An Efficient and Revocable Attribute-Based Encryption Scheme in the Cloud-Assisted IoMT System. IEEE Internet of Things Journal. 8:8949–8963.
With the processes of collecting, analyzing, and transmitting the data in the Internet of Things (IoT), the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) comprises the medical equipment and applications connected to the healthcare system and offers an entity with real time, remote measurement, and analysis of healthcare data. However, the IoMT ecosystem deals with some great challenges in terms of security, such as privacy leaking, eavesdropping, unauthorized access, delayed detection of life-threatening episodes, and so forth. All these negative effects seriously impede the implementation of the IoMT ecosystem. To overcome these obstacles, this article presents an efficient, outsourced online/offline revocable ciphertext policy attribute-based encryption scheme with the aid of cloud servers and blockchains in the IoMT ecosystem. Our proposal achieves the characteristics of fine-grained access control, fast encryption, outsourced decryption, user revocation, and ciphertext verification. It is noteworthy that based on the chameleon hash function, we construct the private key of the data user with collision resistance, semantically secure, and key-exposure free to achieve revocation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first protocol for a revocation mechanism by means of the chameleon hash function. Through formal analysis, it is proven to be secure in a selectively replayable chosen-ciphertext attack (RCCA) game. Finally, this scheme is implemented with the Java pairing-based cryptography library, and the simulation results demonstrate that it enables high efficiency and practicality, as well as strong reliability for the IoMT ecosystem.

Zhang, Zhaoqian, Zhang, Jianbiao, Yuan, Yilin, Li, Zheng.  2021.  An Expressive Fully Policy-Hidden Ciphertext Policy Attribute-Based Encryption Scheme with Credible Verification Based on Blockchain. IEEE Internet of Things Journal. :1–1.
As the public cloud becomes one of the leading ways in data sharing nowadays, data confidentiality and user privacy are increasingly critical. Partially policy-hidden ciphertext policy attribute-based encryption (CP-ABE) can effectively protect data confidentiality while reducing privacy leakage by hiding part of the access structure. However, it cannot satisfy the need of data sharing in the public cloud with complex users and large amounts of data, both in terms of less expressive access structures and limited granularity of policy hiding. Moreover, the verification of access right to shared data and correctness of decryption are ignored or conducted by an untrusted third party, and the prime-order groups are seldom considered in the expressive policy-hidden schemes. This paper proposes a fully policy-hidden CP-ABE scheme constructed on LSSS access structure and prime-order groups for public cloud data sharing. To help users decrypt, HVE with a ``convert step'' is applied, which is more compatible with CP-ABE. Meanwhile, decentralized credible verification of access right to shared data and correctness of decryption based on blockchain are also provided. We prove the security of our scheme rigorously and compare the scheme with others comprehensively. The results show that our scheme performs better.

Wang, Xi-Kun, Sun, Xin.  2021.  CP-ABE with Efficient Revocation Based on the KEK Tree in Data Outsourcing System. 2021 40th Chinese Control Conference (CCC). :8610–8615.
CP-ABE (ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption) is a promising encryption scheme. In this paper, a highly expressive revocable scheme based on the key encryption keys (KEK) tree is proposed. In this method, the cloud server realizes the cancellation of attribute-level users and effectively reduces the computational burden of the data owner and attribute authority. This scheme embeds a unique random value associated with the user in the attribute group keys. The attribute group keys of each user are different, and it is impossible to initiate a collusion attack. Computing outsourcing makes most of the decryption work done by the cloud server, and the data user only need to perform an exponential operation; in terms of security, the security proof is completed under the standard model based on simple assumptions. Under the premise of ensuring security, the scheme in this paper has the functions of revocation and traceability, and the speed of decryption calculation is also improved.
Hwang, Yong-Woon, Lee, Im-Yeong.  2021.  A Study on CP-ABE Based Data Sharing System That Provides Signature-Based Verifiable Outsourcing. 2021 International Conference on Advanced Enterprise Information System (AEIS). :1–5.
Recently, with the development of the cloud environment, users can store their data or share it with other users. However, various security threats can occur in data sharing systems in the cloud environment. To solve this, data sharing systems and access control methods using the CP-ABE method are being studied, but the following problems may occur. First, in an outsourcing server that supports computation, it is not possible to prove that the computed result is a properly computed result when performing the partial decryption process of the ciphertext. Therefore, the user needs to verify the message obtained by performing the decryption process, and verify that the data is uploaded by the data owner through verification. As another problem, because the data owner encrypts data with attribute-based encryption, the number of attributes included in the access structure increases. This increases the size of the ciphertext, which can waste space in cloud storage. Therefore, a ciphertext of a constant size must be output regardless of the number of attributes when generating the ciphertext. In this paper, we proposes a CP-ABE based data sharing system that provides signature-based verifiable outsourcing. It aims at a system that allows multiple users to share data safely and efficiently in a cloud environment by satisfying verifiable outsourcing and constant-sized ciphertext output among various security requirements required by CP-ABE.

Industry 4.0 connectivity requires ensuring end-to-end (E2E) security for industrial data. This requirement is critical when retrieving data from the OT network. Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based Encryption (CP-ABE) guarantees E2E security by encrypting data according to a policy and generating user keys according to attributes. To use this encryption scheme in manufacturing environments, policies must be updatable. This paper proposes a Multi-Layered Policy Key Encapsulation Method for CP-ABE that allows flexible policy update and revocation without modifying the original CP-ABE scheme.

This paper proposes a method of encrypting data stored in the blockchain network by applying ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption (CP-ABE) and symmetric key algorithm. This method protects the confidentiality and privacy of data that is not protected in blockchain networks, and stores data in a more efficient way than before. The proposed model has the same characteristics of CP-ABE and has a faster processing speed than when only CP-ABE is used.
Sethia, Divyashikha, Sahu, Raj, Yadav, Sandeep, Kumar, Ram.  2021.  Attribute Revocation in ECC-Based CP-ABE Scheme for Lightweight Resource-Constrained Devices. 2021 International Conference on Communication, Control and Information Sciences (ICCISc). 1:1–6.
Ciphertext Policy Attribute-Based Encryption (CPABE) has gained popularity in the research area among the many proposed security models for providing fine-grained access control of data. Lightweight ECC-based CP-ABE schemes can provide feasible selective sharing from resource-constrained devices. However, the existing schemes lack support for a complete revocation mechanism at the user and attribute levels. We propose a novel scheme called Ecc Proxy based Scalable Attribute Revocation (EPSAR-CP-ABE) scheme. It extends an existing ECC-based CP-ABE scheme for lightweight IoT and smart-card devices to implement scalable attribute revocation. The scheme does not require re-distribution of secret keys and re-encryption of ciphertext. It uses a proxy server to furnish a proxy component for decryption. The dependency of the proposed scheme is minimal on the proxy server compared to the other related schemes. The storage and computational overhead due to the attribute revocation feature are negligible. Hence, the proposed EPSAR-CP-ABE scheme can be deployed practically for resource-constrained devices.

In this study, a novel decentralized authentication model is proposed for establishing a secure communications structure in VoIP applications. The proposed scheme considers a distributed architecture called the blockchain. With this scheme, we highlight the multimedia data is more resistant to some of the potential attacks according to the centralized architecture. Our scheme presents the overall system authentication architecture, and it is suitable for mutual authentication in terms of privacy and anonymity. We construct an ECC-based model in the encryption infrastructure because our structure is time-constrained during communications. This study differs from prior work in that blockchain platforms with ECC-Based Biometric Signature. We generate a biometric key for creating a unique ID value with ECC to verify the caller and device authentication together in blockchain. We validated the proposed model by comparing with the existing method in VoIP application used centralized architecture.

Zhang, Linlin, Ge, Yunhan.  2021.  Identity Authentication Based on Domestic Commercial Cryptography with Blockchain in the Heterogeneous Alliance Network. 2021 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics and Computer Engineering (ICCECE). :191–195.
Aiming at ensure the security and self-control of heterogeneous alliance network, this paper proposes a novel structure of identity authentication based on domestic commercial cryptography with blockchain in the heterogeneous alliance network. The domestic commercial cryptography, such as SM2, SM3, SM4, SM9 and ZUC, is adopted to solve the encryption, decryption, signature and verification of blockchain, whose key steps of data layer are solved by using domestic commercial cryptographic algorithms. In addition, it is the distributed way to produce the public key and private key for the security of the keys. Therefore, the cross domain identity authentication in the heterogeneous alliance network can be executed safely and effectively.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are gaining popularity as being the backbone of Cyber physical systems, IOT and various data acquisition from sensors deployed in remote, inaccessible terrains have remote deployment. However due to remote deployment, WSN is an adhoc network of large number of sensors either heli-dropped in inaccessible terrain like volcanoes, Forests, border areas are highly energy deficient and available in large numbers. This makes it the right soup to become vulnerable to various kinds of Security attacks. The lack of energy and resources makes it deprived of developing a robust security code for mitigation of various kinds of attacks. Many attempts have been made to suggest a robust security Protocol. But these consume so much energy, bandwidth, processing power, memory and other resources that the sole purpose of data gathering from inaccessible terrain from energy deprived sensors gets defeated. This paper makes an attempt to study the types of attacks on different layers of WSN and the examine the recent trends in development of various security protocols to mitigate the attacks. Further, we have proposed a simple, lightweight but powerful security protocol known as Simple Sensor Security Protocol (SSSP), which captures the uniqueness of WSN and its isolation from internet to develop an energy efficient security solution.

It can not only effectively improve the efficiency of production and life, and shorten the distance between people, but also further promote the speed of China's social and economic development, which has a positive impact on the realization of China's modernization. Under the new information security demand environment at present, we should pay attention to the related information security work and formulate effective security measures and strategies. In order to effectively prevent these information security problems, people should actively adopt firewall technology, encryption technology, network access control technology and network virus prevention technology for effective protection. This paper analyzes the security problems in the application of wireless sensor networks and explores the mechanism of defending information security, hoping to strengthen the security and stability of wireless sensor networks through effective measures, so that people can better enjoy the convenience brought by the network age.

Li, Bingzhe, Du, David.  2021.  WAS-Deletion: Workload-Aware Secure Deletion Scheme for Solid-State Drives. 2021 IEEE 39th International Conference on Computer Design (ICCD). :244–247.
Due to the intrinsic properties of Solid-State Drives (SSDs), invalid data remain in SSDs before erased by a garbage collection process, which increases the risk of being attacked by adversaries. Previous studies use erase and cryptography based schemes to purposely delete target data but face extremely large overhead. In this paper, we propose a Workload-Aware Secure Deletion scheme, called WAS-Deletion, to reduce the overhead of secure deletion by three major components. First, the WAS-Deletion scheme efficiently splits invalid and valid data into different blocks based on workload characteristics. Second, the WAS-Deletion scheme uses a new encryption allocation scheme, making the encryption follow the same direction as the write on multiple blocks and vertically encrypts pages with the same key in one block. Finally, a new adaptive scheduling scheme can dynamically change the configurations of different regions to further reduce secure deletion overhead based on the current workload. The experimental results indicate that the newly proposed WAS-Deletion scheme can reduce the secure deletion cost by about 1.2x to 12.9x compared to previous studies.

Nowadays, peoples are very concerned about their data privacy. Hence, all the current security methods should be improved to stay relevant in this fast-growing technology world. Visual Cryptography (VC) is a cryptographic technique that using the image processing method. The implementation of VC can be varying and flexible to be applied to the system that requires an extra security precaution as it is one of the effective solutions in securing the data exchange between two or more parties. The main purpose of the development of V-CRYPT System is to improve the current VC technique and make it more complex in the encryption and decryption process. V-CRYPT system will let the user enter the key, then select the image that they want to encrypt, and the system will split the image into four shares: share0, share1, share2, share3. Each pixel of the image will be splatted into a smaller block of subpixels in each of the four shares and encrypted as two subpixels in each of the shares. The decryption will work only when the user selects all the shares, and the correct text key is entered. The system will superimpose all the shares and producing one perfect image. If the incorrect key is entered, the resulted image will be unidentified. The results show that V- CRYPT is a valuable alternative to existing methods where its security level is higher in terms of adding a secure key and complexity.

In recent years, more and more medical institutions have been using electronic medical records (EMRs) to improve service efficiency and reduce storage cost. However, it is difficult for medical institutions with different management methods to share medical data. The medical data of patients is easy to be abused, and there are security risks of privacy data leakage. The above problems seriously impede the sharing of medical data. To solve these problems, we propose a blockchain-based medical data sharing scheme with attribute-based searchable encryption, named BMDS. In BMDS, encrypted EMRs are securely stored in the interplanetary file system (IPFS), while corresponding indexes and other information are stored in a medical consortium blockchain. The proposed BMDS has the features of tamper-proof, privacy preservation, verifiability and secure key management, and there is no single point of failure. The performance evaluation of computational overhead and security analysis show that the proposed BMDS has more comprehensive security features and practicability.

Dynamic searchable symmetric encryption (DSSE) that enables a client to perform searches and updates on encrypted data has been intensively studied in cloud computing. Recently, forward privacy and backward privacy has engaged significant attention to protect DSSE from the leakage of updates. However, the research in this field almost focused on keyword-level updates. That is, the client needs to know the keywords of the documents in advance. In this paper, we proposed a document-level update scheme, DBP, which supports immediate deletion while guaranteeing forward privacy and backward privacy. Compared with existing forward and backward private DSSE schemes, our DBP scheme has the following merits: 1) Practicality. It achieves deletion based on document identifiers rather than document/keyword pairs; 2) Efficiency. It utilizes only lightweight primitives to realize backward privacy while supporting immediate deletion. Experimental evaluation on two real datasets demonstrates the practical efficiency of our scheme.

Cloud computing is a technology that provides users with a large storage space and an enormous computing power. For privacy purpose, the sensitive data should be encrypted before being outsourced to the cloud. To search over the outsourced data, searchable encryption (SE) schemes have been proposed in the literature. An SE scheme should perform searches over encrypted data without causing any sensitive information leakage. To this end, a few security constraints were elaborated to guarantee the security of the SE schemes, namely, the keyword privacy, the trapdoor unlinkability, and the access pattern. The latter is very hard to be respected and most approaches fail to guarantee the access pattern constraint when performing a search. This constraint consists in hiding from the server the search result returned to the user. The non respect of this constraint may cause sensitive information leakage as demonstrated in the literature. To fix this security lack, we propose a method that allows to securely request and receive the needed documents from the server after performing a search. The proposed method that we call the access pattern hiding (APH) technique allows to respect the access pattern constraint. An experimental study is conducted to validate the APH technique.
Li, Yuan, Wang, Haiyan, Wang, Shulan, Ding, Yong.  2021.  Attribute-Based Searchable Encryption Scheme Supporting Efficient Range Search in Cloud Computing. 2021 IEEE Conference on Dependable and Secure Computing (DSC). :1—8.
With the widespread application of cloud computing technology, data privacy security problem becomes more serious. The recent studies related to searchable encryption (SE) area have shown that the data owners can share their private data with efficient search function and high-strength security. However, the search method has yet to be perfected, compared with the plaintext search mechanism. In this paper, based LSSS matrix, we give a new searchable algorithm, which is suitable for many search method, such as exact search, Boolean search and range search. In order to improve the search efficiency, the 0, 1-coding theory is introduced in the process of ciphertext search. Meanwhile it is shown that multi-search mechanism can improve the efficiency of data sharing. Finally, the performance analysis is presented, which prove our scheme is secure, efficient, and human-friendly.
Walid, Redwan, Joshi, Karuna P., Choi, Seung Geol.  2021.  Secure Cloud EHR with Semantic Access Control, Searchable Encryption and Attribute Revocation. 2021 IEEE International Conference on Digital Health (ICDH). :38—47.
To ensure a secure Cloud-based Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, we need to encrypt data and impose field-level access control to prevent malicious usage. Since the attributes of the Users will change with time, the encryption policies adopted may also vary. For large EHR systems, it is often necessary to search through the encrypted data in realtime and perform client-side computations without decrypting all patient records. This paper describes our novel cloud-based EHR system that uses Attribute Based Encryption (ABE) combined with Semantic Web technologies to facilitate differential access to an EHR, thereby ensuring only Users with valid attributes can access a particular field of the EHR. The system also includes searchable encryption using keyword index and search trapdoor, which allows querying EHR fields without decrypting the entire patient record. The attribute revocation feature is efficiently managed in our EHR by delegating the revision of the secret key and ciphertext to the Cloud Service Provider (CSP). Our methodology incorporates advanced security features that eliminate malicious use of EHR data and contributes significantly towards ensuring secure digital health systems on the Cloud.

Cloud computing has helped in managing big data and providing resources remotely and ubiquitously, but it has some latency and security concerns. Fog has provided tremendous advantages over cloud computing which include low latency rate, improved real-time interactions, reduced network traffic overcrowding, and improved reliability, however, security concerns need to be addressed separately. Another major issue in the cloud is Cloud Lock-in/Vendor Lock-in. Through this research, an effort has been made to extend fog computing and Searchable Encryption technologies. The proposed system can reduce the issue of cloud lock-in faced in traditional cloud computing. The SE schemes used in this paper are Symmetric Searchable Encryption (SSE) and Multi-keyword Ranked Searchable Encryption (MRSE) to achieve confidentiality, privacy, fine-grained access control, and efficient keyword search. This can help to achieve better access control and keyword search simultaneously. An important use of this technique is it helps to prevent the issue of cloud/vendor lock-in. This can shift some computation and storage of index tables over fog nodes that will reduce the dependency on Cloud Service Providers (CSPs).

In order to solve the problem of difficult verification of query results in searchable encryption, we used the idea of Shamir-secret sharing, combined with game theory, to construct a randomly verifiable multi-cloud server searchable encryption scheme to achieve the correctness of the query results in the cloud storage environment verify. Firstly, we using the Shamir-secret sharing technology, the encrypted data is stored on each independent server to construct a multi-cloud server model to realize the secure distributed storage and efficient query of data. Secondly, combined with game theory, a game tree of query server and verification server is constructed to ensure honesty while being efficient, and solve the problem of difficulty in returning search results to verify under the multi-cloud server model. Finally, security analysis and experimental analysis show that this solution effectively protects data privacy while significantly reducing retrieval time.

Hirano, Takato, Kawai, Yutaka, Koseki, Yoshihiro.  2021.  DBMS-Friendly Searchable Symmetric Encryption: Constructing Index Generation Suitable for Database Management Systems. 2021 IEEE Conference on Dependable and Secure Computing (DSC). :1—8.
Searchable symmetric encryption enables users with the secret key to conduct keyword search on encrypted data without decryption. Recently, dynamic searchable symmetric encryption (DSSE) which provides secure functionalities for adding or deleting documents has been studied extensively. Many DSSE schemes construct indexes in order to efficiently conduct keyword search. On the other hand, the indexes constructed in DSSE are complicated and independent to indexes supported by database management systems (DBMSs). Plug-in developments over DBMSs are often restricted, and therefore it is not easy to develop softwares which can deploy DSSE schemes to DBMSs. In this paper, we propose a DBMS-friendly searchable symmetric encryption scheme which can generate indexes suitable for DBMSs. Our index can narrow down encrypted data which should be conducted keyword search, and be combined with well-used indexes supported by many DBMSs. Our index consists of a small portion of an output value of a cryptographic deterministic function (e.g. pseudo-random function or hash function). We also show an experiment result of our scheme deployed to DBMSs.

Aiming at the real time requirements of heterogeneous energy terminal access and power edge computing business in multiple interactive environment, a real-time and strong compatibility terminal security access mechanism integrating physical characteristics and lightweight cryptographic mechanism is proposed. According to different power terminal security data requirements, the edge computing data transmission, processing security and privacy protection technology are proposed. In addition, in the power system of distribution, microgrid and advanced metering system, the application of edge computing has been well reflected. Combined with encryption technology, access authentication, the security defense of edge data, edge equipment and edge application is carried out in many aspects, which strengthens the security and reliability of business penetration and information sharing at the edge of power grid, and realizes the end-to-end and end-to-system security prevention and control of power grid edge computing.

Smart energy management system in smart grid carries a large number of sensitive data, which needs encryption algorithm to ensure the security of system communication. At present, most of the terminal devices of smart grid are embedded devices with limited computing resources, and their communication encryption mostly relies on AES encryption algorithm. It is difficult in key management and key distribution. Therefore, this paper proposes an improved ECC-AES hybrid encryption algorithm. Firstly, ECC algorithm is improved to improve the speed of encryption and decryption, and then the improved ECC algorithm is used as a supplement to AES algorithm. ECC is used to encrypt the AES key, which improves the security of the algorithm. At the same time, the experimental simulation also proves that the improved ECC algorithm has obvious performance improvement in computing time, CPU occupancy and memory usage.
