Peng, Haoran, Chen, Pei-Chen, Chen, Pin-Hua, Yang, Yung-Shun, Hsia, Ching-Chieh, Wang, Li-Chun.  2022.  6G toward Metaverse: Technologies, Applications, and Challenges. 2022 IEEE VTS Asia Pacific Wireless Communications Symposium (APWCS). :6–10.
Metaverse opens up a new social networking paradigm where people can experience a real interactive feeling without physical space constraints. Social interactions are gradually evolving from text combined with pictures and videos to 3-dimensional virtual reality, making the social experience increasingly physical, implying that more metaverse applications with immersive experiences will be developed in the future. However, the increasing data dimensionality and volume for new metaverse applications present a significant challenge in data acquisition, security, and sharing. Furthermore, metaverse applications require high capacity and ultrareliability for the wireless system to guarantee the quality of user experience, which cannot be addressed in the current fifth-generation system. Therefore, reaching the metaverse is dependent on the revolution in the sixth-generation (6G) wireless communication, which is expected to provide low-latency, high-throughput, and secure services. This article provides a comprehensive view of metaverse applications and investigates the fundamental technologies for the 6G toward metaverse.

Speech enhancement is often applied for speech-based systems due to the proneness of speech signals to additive background noise. While speech processing-based methods are traditionally used for speech enhancement, with advancements in deep learning technologies, many efforts have been made to implement them for speech enhancement. Using deep learning, the networks learn mapping functions from noisy data to clean ones and then learn to reconstruct the clean speech signals. As a consequence, deep learning methods can reduce what is so-called musical noise that is often found in traditional speech enhancement methods. Currently, one popular deep learning architecture for speech enhancement is generative adversarial networks (GAN). However, the cross-entropy loss that is employed in GAN often causes the training to be unstable. So, in many implementations of GAN, the cross-entropy loss is replaced with the least-square loss. In this paper, to improve the training stability of GAN using cross-entropy loss, we propose to use deep regret analytic generative adversarial networks (Dragan) for speech enhancements. It is based on applying a gradient penalty on cross-entropy loss. We also employ relativistic rules to stabilize the training of GAN. Then, we applied it to the least square and Dragan losses. Our experiments suggest that the proposed method improve the quality of speech better than the least-square loss on several objective quality metrics.

Hata, Yuya, Hayashi, Naoki, Makino, Yusuke, Takada, Atsushi, Yamagoe, Kyoko.  2022.  Alarm Correlation Method Using Bayesian Network in Telecommunications Networks. 2022 23rd Asia-Pacific Network Operations and Management Symposium (APNOMS). :1–4.
In the operation of information technology (IT) services, operators monitor the equipment-issued alarms, to locate the cause of a failure and take action. Alarms generate simultaneously from multiple devices with physical/logical connections. Therefore, if the time and location of the alarms are close to each other, it can be judged that the alarms are likely to be caused by the same event. In this paper, we propose a method that takes a novel approach by correlating alarms considering event units using a Bayesian network based on alarm generation time, generation place, and alarm type. The topology information becomes a critical decision element when doing the alarm correlation. However, errors may occur when topology information updates manually during failures or construction. Therefore, we show that event-by-event correlation with 100% accuracy is possible even if the topology information is 25% wrong by taking into location information other than topology information.

Yahya, Muhammad, Abdullah, Saleem, Almagrabi, Alaa Omran, Botmart, Thongchai.  2022.  Analysis of S-Box Based on Image Encryption Application Using Complex Fuzzy Credibility Frank Aggregation Operators. IEEE Access. 10:88858—88871.
This article is about a criterion based on credibility complex fuzzy set (CCFS) to study the prevailing substitution boxes (S-box) and learn their properties to find out their suitability in image encryption applications. Also these criterion has its own properties which is discussed in detailed and on the basis of these properties we have to find the best optimal results and decide the suitability of an S-box to image encryption applications. S-box is the only components which produces the confusion in the every block cipher in the formation of image encryption. So, for this first we have to convert the matrix having color image using the nonlinear components and also using the proposed algebraic structure of credibility complex fuzzy set to find the best S-box for image encryption based on its criterion. The analyses show that the readings of GRAY S-box is very good for image data.

Ye, Kai Zhen.  2022.  Application and Parallel Sandbox Testing Architecture for Network Security Isolation based on Cloud Desktop. 2022 International Conference on Inventive Computation Technologies (ICICT). :879–882.
Network security isolation technology is an important means to protect the internal information security of enterprises. Generally, isolation is achieved through traditional network devices, such as firewalls and gatekeepers. However, the security rules are relatively rigid and cannot better meet the flexible and changeable business needs. Through the double sandbox structure created for each user, each user in the virtual machine is isolated from each other and security is ensured. By creating a virtual disk in a virtual machine as a user storage sandbox, and encrypting the read and write of the disk, the shortcomings of traditional network isolation methods are discussed, and the application of cloud desktop network isolation technology based on VMwarer technology in universities is expounded.

Yue, Zhengyu, Yao, Yuanzhi, Li, Weihai, Yu, Nenghai.  2022.  ATDD: Fine-Grained Assured Time-Sensitive Data Deletion Scheme in Cloud Storage. ICC 2022 - IEEE International Conference on Communications. :3448—3453.
With the rapid development of general cloud services, more and more individuals or collectives use cloud platforms to store data. Assured data deletion deserves investigation in cloud storage. In time-sensitive data storage scenarios, it is necessary for cloud platforms to automatically destroy data after the data owner-specified expiration time. Therefore, assured time-sensitive data deletion should be sought. In this paper, a fine-grained assured time-sensitive data deletion (ATDD) scheme in cloud storage is proposed by embedding the time trapdoor in Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based Encryption (CP-ABE). Time-sensitive data is self-destructed after the data owner-specified expiration time so that the authorized users cannot get access to the related data. In addition, a credential is returned to the data owner for data deletion verification. This proposed scheme provides solutions for fine-grained access control and verifiable data self-destruction. Detailed security and performance analysis demonstrate the security and the practicability of the proposed scheme.

Ebrahimabadi, Mohammad, Younis, Mohamed, Lalouani, Wassila, Karimi, Naghmeh.  2022.  An Attack Resilient PUF-based Authentication Mechanism for Distributed Systems. 2022 35th International Conference on VLSI Design and 2022 21st International Conference on Embedded Systems (VLSID). :108–113.
In most PUF-based authentication schemes, a central server is usually engaged to verify the response of the device’s PUF to challenge bit-streams. However, the server availability may be intermittent in practice. To tackle such an issue, this paper proposes a new protocol for supporting distributed authentication while avoiding vulnerability to information leakage where CRPs could be retrieved from hacked devices and collectively used to model the PUF. The main idea is to provision for scrambling the challenge bit-stream in a way that is dependent on the verifier. The scrambling pattern varies per authentication round for each device and independently across devices. In essence, the scrambling function becomes node- and packetspecific and the response received by two verifiers of one device for the same challenge bit-stream could vary. Thus, neither the scrambling function can be reverted, nor the PUF can be modeled even by a collusive set of malicious nodes. The validation results using data of an FPGA-based implementation demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in thwarting PUF modeling attacks by collusive actors. We also discuss the approach resiliency against impersonation, Sybil, and reverse engineering attacks.

Sumoto, Kensuke, Kanakogi, Kenta, Washizaki, Hironori, Tsuda, Naohiko, Yoshioka, Nobukazu, Fukazawa, Yoshiaki, Kanuka, Hideyuki.  2022.  Automatic labeling of the elements of a vulnerability report CVE with NLP. 2022 IEEE 23rd International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration for Data Science (IRI). :164—165.
Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) databases contain information about vulnerabilities of software products and source code. If individual elements of CVE descriptions can be extracted and structured, then the data can be used to search and analyze CVE descriptions. Herein we propose a method to label each element in CVE descriptions by applying Named Entity Recognition (NER). For NER, we used BERT, a transformer-based natural language processing model. Using NER with machine learning can label information from CVE descriptions even if there are some distortions in the data. An experiment involving manually prepared label information for 1000 CVE descriptions shows that the labeling accuracy of the proposed method is about 0.81 for precision and about 0.89 for recall. In addition, we devise a way to train the data by dividing it into labels. Our proposed method can be used to label each element automatically from CVE descriptions.

Wang, Jingyi, Huang, Cheng, Ma, Yiming, Wang, Huiyuan, Peng, Chao, Yu, HouHui.  2022.  BA-CPABE : An auditable Ciphertext-Policy Attribute Based Encryption Based on Blockchain. 2022 International Conference on Blockchain Technology and Information Security (ICBCTIS). :193—197.
At present, the ciphertext-policy attribute based encryption (CP-ABE) has been widely used in different fields of data sharing such as cross-border paperless trade, digital government and etc. However, there still exist some challenges including single point of failure, key abuse and key unaccountable issues in CP-ABE. To address these problems. We propose an accountable CP-ABE mechanism based on block chain system. First, we establish two authorization agencies MskCA and AttrVN(Attribute verify Network),where the MskCA can realize master key escrow, and the AttrVN manages and validates users' attributes. In this way, our system can avoid the single point of failure and improve the privacy of user attributes and security of keys. Moreover, in order to realize auditability of CP-ABE key parameter transfer, we introduce the did and record parameter transfer process on the block chain. Finally, we theoretically prove the security of our CP-ABE. Through comprehensive comparison, the superiority of CP-ABE is verified. At the same time, our proposed schemes have some properties such as fast decryption and so on.

Kawasaki, Shinnosuke, Yeh, Jia–Jun, Saccher, Marta, Li, Jian, Dekker, Ronald.  2022.  Bulk Acoustic Wave Based Mocrfluidic Particle Sorting with Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers. 2022 IEEE 35th International Conference on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems Conference (MEMS). :908—911.
The main limitation of acoustic particle separation for microfluidic application is its low sorting efficiency. This is due to the weak coupling of surface acoustic waves (SAWs) into the microchannel. In this work, we demonstrate bulk acoustic wave (BAW) particle sorting using capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs) for the first time. A collapsed mode CMUT was driven in air to generate acoustic pressure within the silicon substrate in the in-plane direction of the silicon die. This acoustic pressure was coupled into a water droplet, positioned at the side of the CMUT die, and measured with an optical hydrophone. By using a beam steering approach, the ultrasound generated from 32 CMUT elements were added in-phase to generate a maximum peak-to-peak pressure of 0.9 MPa. Using this pressure, 10 µm latex beads were sorted almost instantaneously.

He, Yang, Gao, Xianzhou, Liang, Fei, Yang, Ruxia.  2022.  A Classification Method of Power Unstructured Encrypted Data Based on Fuzzy Data Matching. 2022 3rd International Conference on Intelligent Design (ICID). :294—298.
With the development of the digital development transformation of the power grid, the classification of power unstructured encrypted data is an important basis for data security protection. However, most studies focus on exact match classification or single-keyword fuzzy match classification. This paper proposes a fuzzy matching classification method for power unstructured encrypted data. The data owner generates an index vector based on the power unstructured file, and the data user generates a query vector by querying the file through the same process. The index and query vector are uploaded to the cloud server in encrypted form, and the cloud server calculates the relevance score and sorts it, and returns the classification result with the highest score to the user. This method realizes the multi-keyword fuzzy matching classification of unstructured encrypted data of electric power, and through the experimental simulation of a large number of data sets, the effect and feasibility of the method are proved.

To ensure dynamic and transient angle and load stability in order to maintain the power system security is a major task of the power Engineer. FACTS Controllers are most effective devices to ensure system security by enhancing the stability margins with reactive power support all over the power system network. The major shunt compensation devices of FACTS are SVC and STATCOM. This article dispenses the modelling and simulation of both the shunt devices viz. Oneis the Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) and the other is Static Var Compensator (SVC). The small signal models of these devices have been derived from the first principles and obtained the transfer function models of weak and strong power systems. The weak power system has the Short Circuit Ratio (SCR) is about less than 3 and that of the strong power system has the SCR of more than 5. The performance of the both weak and strong power systems has been evaluated with time and frequency responses. The dynamic response is obtained with the exact models for both weak and strong systems, subsequently the root locus plots as well as bode plots have been obtained with MATLAB Programs and evaluated the performance of these devices and comparison is made. The Stability margins of both the systems with SVC and STATCOM have been obtained from the bode plots. The dynamic behaviour of the both kinds of power systems have been assessed with time responses of SVC and STATCOM models. All of these results viz. dynamic response, root locus and bode plots proves the superiority of the STATCOM over SVC with indices, viz. peak overshoot, settling time, gain margin and phase margins. The dynamic, steady state performance indices obtained from time response and bode plots proves the superior performance of STATCOM.

This Innovative Practice Work-in-Progress paper presents a virtual, proactive, and collaborative learning paradigm that can engage learners with different backgrounds and enable effective retention and transfer of the multidisciplinary AI-cybersecurity knowledge. While progress has been made to better understand the trustworthiness and security of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, little has been done to translate this knowledge to education and training. There is a critical need to foster a qualified cybersecurity workforce that understands the usefulness, limitations, and best practices of AI technologies in the cybersecurity domain. To address this import issue, in our proposed learning paradigm, we leverage multidisciplinary expertise in cybersecurity, AI, and statistics to systematically investigate two cohesive research and education goals. First, we develop an immersive learning environment that motivates the students to explore AI/machine learning (ML) development in the context of real-world cybersecurity scenarios by constructing learning models with tangible objects. Second, we design a proactive education paradigm with the use of hackathon activities based on game-based learning, lifelong learning, and social constructivism. The proposed paradigm will benefit a wide range of learners, especially underrepresented students. It will also help the general public understand the security implications of AI. In this paper, we describe our proposed learning paradigm and present our current progress of this ongoing research work. In the current stage, we focus on the first research and education goal and have been leveraging cost-effective Minecraft platform to develop an immersive learning environment where the learners are able to investigate the insights of the emerging AI/ML concepts by constructing related learning modules via interacting with tangible AI/ML building blocks.
