The 2009 IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy was held in Oakland, California on May 17-20. The 2009 symposium marked the 30th annual meeting of this flagship conference. Since 1980, the IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy has been the premier forum for presenting developments in computer security and electronic privacy, and for bringing together researchers and practitioners in the field.

The Theory of Cryptography deals with the paradigms, approaches and techniques used to conceptualize, define and provide solutions to natural cryptographic problems. Research in this area includes:

Anaheim was a perfect location - they supplied excellent facilities at the Sheraton Park hotel, great weather and even fireworks (well, in Disneyland, but we could see them from our hotel every night).

The conference week started with 4 full-day and 2 half-day tutorials held on Monday-Tuesday - they were well attended and highly educational (not to mention the continued education credits they offered as well). The Virtualization Security workshop on Tuesday was packed - both in terms of most recent information from leading experts and in terms of audience.

The 14th Annual International Conference on the Theory and Application of Cryptology & Information Security is happening December 7 - 11, 2008 in Melbourne, Australia.

The International Conference on the Theory and Application of Cryptology and Information Security, ASIACRYPT, is the main annual event organised by Asiacrypt Steering Committee and sponsored the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR). The conference proceedings, published by Springer-Verlag, will be available at the conference.

The 2008 Internet Measurement Conference is a two and a half day event focusing on Internet measurement and analysis, following on the successes of seven previous Internet Measurement Workshops and Conferences.

The conference will be held in the Hotel Margi in Vouliagmeni, a seaside resort 30 minutes away from the city centre and airport of Athens, in Greece.

The 11th International Symposium on Recent Advances in Intrusion Detection will be held at the Wong Auditorium in the Tang Center at MIT, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

This symposium brings together leading researchers and practitioners from academia, government, and industry to discuss issues and technologies related to intrusion detection and defense. This year, we are pleased to be holding RAID in conjunction with VizSec 2008.

The 17th USENIX Security Symposium was held on July 28 - August 1, 2008 in San Jose, California. The USENIX Security Symposium brought together researchers, practitioners, system administrators, system programmers, and others interested in the latest advances in the security of computer systems and networks.

The 8th Privacy Enhancing Technologies Symposium will bring together anonymity and privacy experts from around the world to discuss recent advances and new perspectives in privacy for the Internet and other communication networks.

The symposium seeks submissions from academia and industry presenting novel research on all theoretical and practical aspects of privacy technologies, as well as experimental studies of fielded systems. We encourage submissions from other communities such as law and business that present their perspectives on technological issues.

The Computer Security Foundations Symposium is an annual conference for researchers in computer security, to examine current theories of security, the formal models that provide a context for those theories, and techniques for verifying security. It was created in 1988 as a workshop of the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Security and Privacy, in response to a 1986 essay by Don Good entitled "The Foundations of Computer Security - We Need Some." The meeting became a "symposium" in 2007, along with a policy for open, increased attendance.

EUROCRYPT 2008, the 25th Annual EUROCRYPT conference on the theory and applications of cryptologic techniques, was organized by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR). The conference was held on April 13-17, in Istanbul, Turkey.

Building on the success of ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security (CCS) and ACM Transactions on Information and System Security (TISSEC), the ACM Special Interest Group on Security, Audit, and Control (SIGSAC) formally established the annual ACM Symposium on InformAtion, Computer and Communications Security (ASIACCS). The inaugural ASIACCS was held in Taipei (2006). Since then ASIACCS has been held in Singapore (2007).

ASIACCS 2008 is the third conference of the series, and will be held in Tokyo, Japan.

ACSAC brings together cutting-edge researchers, with a broad cross-section of security professionals drawn from academia, industry, and government, gathered to present and discuss the latest security results and topics. With peer reviewed technical papers, invited talks, panels, national interest discussions, workshops, and professional development and training courses, ACSAC continues its core mission of investigating practical solutions for computer security technology.

This year ACSAC will be held at the Miami Beach Resport & Spa in Miami Beach, Florida.
