    Computer security is concerned with the protection of information in environments where there is a possibility of intrusion or malicious action. The aim of ESORICS is to further the progress of research in computer security by establishing a European forum for bringing together researchers in this area, by promoting the exchange of ideas with system developers and by encouraging links with researchers in related areas. Progressively organised in a series of European countries, the symposium is confirmed as the European research event in computer security.

    The 13th International Symposium on Recent Advances in Intrusion Detection was held in the heart of downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, September 15-17, 2010. This symposium brought together leading researchers and practitioners from academia, government, and industry to discuss issues and technologies related to intrusion detection and defence. The keynote speaker was Eric Chien.

    Crypto 2010 was the thirtieth in a series of workshops on cryptology held in Santa Barbara, California on August 15-19, 2010 and was sponsored by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), in cooperation with the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Security and Privacy, and the Computer Science Department of the University of California, Santa Barbara. The program for the workshop covered all aspects of cryptology.

    The 10th Privacy Enhancing Technologies Symposium will bring together anonymity and privacy experts from around the world to discuss recent advances and new perspectives in privacy for the Internet and other communication networks.

    The symposium seeks submissions from academia and industry presenting novel research on all theoretical and practical aspects of privacy technologies, as well as experimental studies of fielded systems. We encourage submissions from other communities such as law and business that present their perspectives on technological issues.

    The Computer Security Foundations Symposium is an annual conference for researchers in computer security, to examine current theories of security, the formal models that provide a context for those theories, and techniques for verifying security. It was created in 1988 as a workshop of the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Security and Privacy, in response to a 1986 essay by Don Good entitled "The Foundations of Computer Security - We Need Some." The meeting became a "symposium" in 2007, along with a policy for open, increased attendance.

    The sixth Symposium on Usable Privacy and Security (SOUPS) was held July 14-16, 2010 at Microsoft in Redmond, WA. This symposium brought together an interdisciplinary group of researchers and practitioners in human computer interaction, security, and privacy. The program featured technical papers, workshops and tutorials, a poster session, panels and invited talks, and discussion sessions. SOUPS 2010 was held in cooperation with ACM SIGCHI.

    Building on the success of ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security (CCS) and ACM Transactions on Information and System Security (TISSEC), the ACM Special Interest Group on Security, Audit, and Control (SIGSAC) formally established the annual ACM Symposium on InformAtion, Computer and Communications Security (ASIACCS). The inaugural ASIACCS was held in Taipei (2006). Since then ASIACCS has been held in Singapore (2007), Tokyo (2008), and Sydney (2009).

    ASIACCS 2010 is the fifth conference of the series, and will be held in Beijing, China.

    This symposium brings together leading researchers and practitioners from academia, government, and industry to discuss issues and technologies related to intrusion detection and defense. In 2009, RAID took place in conjunction with ESORICS. (On even years we hold RAID in conjunction with VizSec.)
