Computer security is concerned with the protection of information in environments where there is a possibility of intrusion or malicious action. The aim of ESORICS is to further the progress of research in computer security by establishing a European forum for bringing together researchers in this area, by promoting the exchange of ideas with system developers and by encouraging links with researchers in related areas. Progressively organised in a series of European countries, the symposium is confirmed as the European research event in computer security.

Crypto 2010 was the thirtieth in a series of workshops on cryptology held in Santa Barbara, California on August 15-19, 2010 and was sponsored by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), in cooperation with the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Security and Privacy, and the Computer Science Department of the University of California, Santa Barbara. The program for the workshop covered all aspects of cryptology.

The Computer Security Foundations Symposium is an annual conference for researchers in computer security, to examine current theories of security, the formal models that provide a context for those theories, and techniques for verifying security. It was created in 1988 as a workshop of the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Security and Privacy, in response to a 1986 essay by Don Good entitled "The Foundations of Computer Security - We Need Some." The meeting became a "symposium" in 2007, along with a policy for open, increased attendance.

The Annual IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN) has pioneered the fusion between dependability and security research, understanding the need to simultaneously fight against accidental faults, intentional cyber-attacks, design errors, and unexpected operating conditions. DSN is also providing a fruitful ground for academia and industry interaction.

The 2010 IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy was held in Berkeley/Oakland, California on May 16-19. The 2010 symposium marked the 31st annual meeting of this flagship conference. Since 1980, the IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy has been the premier forum for presenting developments in computer security and electronic privacy, and for bringing together researchers and practitioners in the field.

The Network and Distributed System Security Symposium 2010 was held February 28 through March 3, 2010, at The Dana at Mission Bay in San Diego, California.

The Network and Distributed System Security Symposium 2009 was held February 8 -11, 2009, at Catamaran Resort Hotel & Spa in San Diego, California.

ASIACRYPT 2009 was an international conference for all technical aspects of cryptology. ASIACRYPT 2009 was organized by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR) in cooperation with the technical group on Information Security (ISEC) of Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, and the Computer Security group (CSEC) of Information Processing Society of Japan. ASIACRYPT 2009 was held on December 6-10, 2009 in Tokyo, Japan.

The 16th ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security was held in Chicago, Illinois from November 9 to November 13, 2009. The annual ACM Computer and Communications Security Conference is a leading international forum for information security researchers, practitioners, developers, and users to explore cutting-edge ideas and results, and to exchange techniques, tools, and experiences.

The 12th International Symposium on Recent Advances in Intrusion Detection has been held at the Palais du Grand Large, Saint-Malo, Brittany, France, in September 2009, with Engin Kirda as a PC chair and Ludovic Me (SUPELEC) as a general chair.

This symposium brings together leading researchers and practitioners from academia, government, and industry to discuss issues and technologies related to intrusion detection and defense. In 2009, RAID took place in conjunction with ESORICS. (On even years we hold RAID in conjunction with VizSec.)

The fifth Symposium on Usable Privacy and Security (SOUPS) was held July 15-17, 2009 at Google in Mountain View, CA. This symposium brought together an interdisciplinary group of researchers and practitioners in human computer interaction, security, and privacy. The program featured technical papers, workshops and tutorials, a poster session, panels and invited talks, and discussion sessions. SOUPS 2009 was held in cooperation with ACM SIGCHI.
