At present, mobile terminals are widely used in power system and easy to be the target or springboard to attack the power system. It is necessary to have security assessment of power mobile terminal system to enable early warning of potential risks. In the context, this paper builds the security assessment system against to power mobile terminals, with features from security assessment system of general mobile terminals and power application scenarios. Compared with the existing methods, this paper introduces machine learning to the Rank Correlation Analysis method, which relies on expert experience, and uses objective experimental data to optimize the weight parameters of the indicators. From experiments, this paper proves that weights self-learning method can be used to evaluate the security of power mobile terminal system and improve credibility of the result.

Community Health Workers (CHWs) have been using Mobile Health Data Collection Systems (MDCSs) for supporting the delivery of primary healthcare and carrying out public health surveys, feeding national-level databases with families' personal data. Such systems are used for public surveillance and to manage sensitive data (i.e., health data), so addressing the privacy issues is crucial for successfully deploying MDCSs. In this paper we present a comprehensive privacy threat analysis for MDCSs, discuss the privacy challenges and provide recommendations that are specially useful to health managers and developers. We ground our analysis on a large-scale MDCS used for primary care (GeoHealth) and a well-known Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) methodology. The threat analysis is based on a compilation of relevant privacy threats from the literature as well as brain-storming sessions with privacy and security experts. Among the main findings, we observe that existing MDCSs do not employ adequate controls for achieving transparency and interveinability. Thus, threatening fundamental privacy principles regarded as data quality, right to access and right to object. Furthermore, it is noticeable that although there has been significant research to deal with data security issues, the attention with privacy in its multiple dimensions is prominently lacking.

The panic among medical control, information, and device administrators is due to surmounting number of high-profile attacks on healthcare facilities. This hostile situation is going to lead the health informatics industry to cloud-hoarding of medical data, control flows, and site governance. While different healthcare enterprises opt for cloud-based solutions, it is a matter of time when fog computing environment are formed. Because of major gaps in reported techniques for fog security administration for health data i.e. absence of an overarching certification authority (CA), the security provisioning is one of the the issue that we address in this paper. We propose a security provisioning model (AZSPM) for medical devices in fog environments. We propose that the AZSPM can be build by using atomic security components that are dynamically composed. The verification of authenticity of the atomic components, for trust sake, is performed by calculating the processor clock cycles from service execution at the resident hardware platform. This verification is performed in the fully sand boxed environment. The results of the execution cycles are matched with the service specifications from the manufacturer before forwarding the mobile services to the healthcare cloud-lets. The proposed model is completely novel in the fog computing environments. We aim at building the prototype based on this model in a healthcare information system environment.

Aljumah, A., Ahanger, T. A..  2018.  Fog computing and security issues: A review. 2018 7th International Conference on Computers Communications and Control (ICCCC). :237–239.

The paradigm of fog computing has set new trends and heights in the modern world networking and have overcome the major technical complexities of cloud computing. It is not a replacement of cloud computing technology but it just adds feasible advanced characteristics to existing cloud computing paradigm.fog computing not only provide storage, networking and computing services but also provide a platform for IoT (internet of things). However, the fog computing technology also arise the threat to privacy and security of the data and services. The existing security and privacy mechanisms of the cloud computing cannot be applied to the fog computing directly due to its basic characteristics of large-scale geo-distribution, mobility and heterogeneity. This article provides an overview of the present existing issues and challenges in fog computing.

Sachdeva, A., Kapoor, R., Sharma, A., Mishra, A..  2017.  Categorical Classification and Deletion of Spam Images on Smartphones Using Image Processing and Machine Learning. 2017 International Conference on Machine Learning and Data Science (MLDS). :23–30.

We regularly use communication apps like Facebook and WhatsApp on our smartphones, and the exchange of media, particularly images, has grown at an exponential rate. There are over 3 billion images shared every day on Whatsapp alone. In such a scenario, the management of images on a mobile device has become highly inefficient, and this leads to problems like low storage, manual deletion of images, disorganization etc. In this paper, we present a solution to tackle these issues by automatically classifying every image on a smartphone into a set of predefined categories, thereby segregating spam images from them, allowing the user to delete them seamlessly.

Many companies within the Internet of Things (IoT) sector rely on the personal data of users to deliver and monetize their services, creating a high demand for personal information. A user can be seen as making a series of transactions, each involving the exchange of personal data for a service. In this paper, we argue that privacy can be described quantitatively, using the game- theoretic concept of value of information (VoI), enabling us to assess whether each exchange is an advantageous one for the user. We introduce PrivacyGate, an extension to the Android operating system built for the purpose of studying privacy of IoT transactions. An example study, and its initial results, are provided to illustrate its capabilities.

Li, C., Palanisamy, B., Joshi, J..  2017.  Differentially Private Trajectory Analysis for Points-of-Interest Recommendation. 2017 IEEE International Congress on Big Data (BigData Congress). :49–56.

Ubiquitous deployment of low-cost mobile positioning devices and the widespread use of high-speed wireless networks enable massive collection of large-scale trajectory data of individuals moving on road networks. Trajectory data mining finds numerous applications including understanding users' historical travel preferences and recommending places of interest to new visitors. Privacy-preserving trajectory mining is an important and challenging problem as exposure of sensitive location information in the trajectories can directly invade the location privacy of the users associated with the trajectories. In this paper, we propose a differentially private trajectory analysis algorithm for points-of-interest recommendation to users that aims at maximizing the accuracy of the recommendation results while protecting the privacy of the exposed trajectories with differential privacy guarantees. Our algorithm first transforms the raw trajectory dataset into a bipartite graph with nodes representing the users and the points-of-interest and the edges representing the visits made by the users to the locations, and then extracts the association matrix representing the bipartite graph to inject carefully calibrated noise to meet έ-differential privacy guarantees. A post-processing of the perturbed association matrix is performed to suppress noise prior to performing a Hyperlink-Induced Topic Search (HITS) on the transformed data that generates an ordered list of recommended points-of-interest. Extensive experiments on a real trajectory dataset show that our algorithm is efficient, scalable and demonstrates high recommendation accuracy while meeting the required differential privacy guarantees.

The prevalence of mobile devices and location-based services (LBS) has generated great concerns regarding the LBS users' privacy, which can be compromised by statistical analysis of their movement patterns. A number of algorithms have been proposed to protect the privacy of users in such systems, but the fundamental underpinnings of such remain unexplored. Recently, the concept of perfect location privacy was introduced and its achievability was studied for anonymization-based LBS systems, where user identifiers are permuted at regular intervals to prevent identification based on statistical analysis of long time sequences. In this paper, we significantly extend that investigation by incorporating the other major tool commonly employed to obtain location privacy: obfuscation, where user locations are purposely obscured to protect their privacy. Since anonymization and obfuscation reduce user utility in LBS systems, we investigate how location privacy varies with the degree to which each of these two methods is employed. We provide: (1) achievability results for the case where the location of each user is governed by an i.i.d. process; (2) converse results for the i.i.d. case as well as the more general Markov Chain model. We show that, as the number of users in the network grows, the obfuscation-anonymization plane can be divided into two regions: in the first region, all users have perfect location privacy; and, in the second region, no user has location privacy.

We propose an approach to enforce security in disruption- and delay-tolerant networks (DTNs) where long delays, high packet drop rates, unavailability of central trusted entity etc. make traditional approaches unfeasible. We use trust model based on subjective logic to continuously evaluate trustworthiness of security credentials issued in distributed manner by network participants to deal with absence of centralised trusted authorities.

Seth, R., Kaushal, R..  2017.  Detection of transformed malwares using permission flow graphs. 2017 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics-Asia (ICCE-Asia). :17–21.

With growing popularity of Android, it's attack surface has also increased. Prevalence of third party android marketplaces gives attackers an opportunity to plant their malicious apps in the mobile eco-system. To evade signature based detection, attackers often transform their malware, for instance, by introducing code level changes. In this paper we propose a lightweight static Permission Flow Graph (PFG) based approach to detect malware even when they have been transformed (obfuscated). A number of techniques based on behavioral analysis have also been proposed in the past; how-ever our interest lies in leveraging the permission framework alone to detect malware variants and transformations without considering behavioral aspects of a malware. Our proposed approach constructs Permission Flow Graph (PFG) for an Android App. Transformations performed at code level, often result in changing control flow, however, most of the time, the permission flow remains invariant. As a consequences, PFGs of transformed malware and non-transformed malware remain structurally similar as shown in this paper using state-of-the-art graph similarity algorithm. Furthermore, we propose graph based similarity metrics at both edge level and vertex level in order to bring forth the structural similarity of the two PFGs being compared. We validate our proposed methodology through machine learning algorithms. Results prove that our approach is successfully able to group together Android malware and its variants (transformations) together in the same cluster. Further, we demonstrate that our proposed approach is able to detect transformed malware with a detection accuracy of 98.26%, thereby ensuring that malicious Apps can be detected even after transformations.

Verma, R., Sharma, R., Singh, U..  2017.  New approach through detection and prevention of wormhole attack in MANET. 2017 International conference of Electronics, Communication and Aerospace Technology (ICECA). 2:526–531.

A Local Area Network (LAN) consists of wireless mobile nodes that can communicate with each other through electromagnetic radio waves. Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) consists of mobile nodes, the network is infrastructure less. It dynamically self organizes in arbitrary and temporary network topologies. Security is extremely vital for MANET. Attacks pave way for security. Among all the potential attacks on MANET, detection of wormhole attack is very difficult. One malicious node receives packets from a particular location, tunnels them to a different contagious nodes situated in another location of the network and distorts the full routing method. All routes are converged to the wormhole established by the attackers. The complete routing system in MANET gets redirected. Many existing ways have been surveyed to notice wormhole attack in MANET. Our proposed methodology is a unique wormhole detection and prevention algorithm that shall effectively notice the wormhole attack in theMANET. Our notion is to extend the detection as well as the quantitative relation relative to the existing ways.

Saurabh, V. K., Sharma, R., Itare, R., Singh, U..  2017.  Cluster-based technique for detection and prevention of black-hole attack in MANETs. 2017 International conference of Electronics, Communication and Aerospace Technology (ICECA). 2:489–494.

Secure routing in the field of mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is one of the most flourishing areas of research. Devising a trustworthy security protocol for ad hoc routing is a challenging task due to the unique network characteristics such as lack of central authority, rapid node mobility, frequent topology changes, insecure operational environment, and confined availability of resources. Due to low configuration and quick deployment, MANETs are well-suited for emergency situations like natural disasters or military applications. Therefore, data transfer between two nodes should necessarily involve security. A black-hole attack in the mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is an offense occurring due to malicious nodes, which attract the data packets by incorrectly publicizing a fresh route to the destination. A clustering direction in AODV routing protocol for the detection and prevention of black-hole attack in MANET has been put forward. Every member of the unit will ping once to the cluster head, to detect the exclusive difference between the number of data packets received and forwarded by the particular node. If the fault is perceived, all the nodes will obscure the contagious nodes from the network. The reading of the system performance has been done in terms of packet delivery ratio (PDR), end to end delay (ETD) throughput and Energy simulation inferences are recorded using ns2 simulator.

Networking system does not liable on static infrastructure that interconnects various nodes in identical broadcast range dynamically called as Mobile Ad-hoc Network. A Network requires adaptive connectivity due to this data transmission rate increased. In this paper, we designed developed a dynamic cluster head selection to detect gray hole attack in MANETs on the origin of battery power. MANETs has dynamic nodes so we delivered novel way to choose cluster head by self-stabilizing election algorithm followed by MD5 algorithm for security purposes. The Dynamic cluster based intrusion revealing system to detect gray hole attack in MANET. This Architecture enhanced performance in terms of Packet delivery ratio and throughput due to dynamic cluster based IDS, associating results of existing system with proposed system, throughput of network increased, end to end delay and routing overhead less compared with existing system due to gray hole nodes in the MANET. The future work can be prolonged by using security algorithm AES and MD6 and also by including additional node to create large network by comparing multiple routing protocol in MANETs.

One of the specially designated versatile networks, commonly referred to as MANET, performs on the basics that each and every one grouping in nodes totally operate in self-sorting out limits. In any case, performing in a group capacity maximizes quality and different sources. Mobile ad hoc network is a wireless infrastructureless network. Due to its unique features, various challenges are faced under MANET when the role of routing and its security comes into play. The review has demonstrated that the impact of failures during the information transmission has not been considered in the existing research. The majority of strategies for ad hoc networks just determines the path and transmits the data which prompts to packet drop in case of failures, thus resulting in low dependability. The majority of the existing research has neglected the use of the rejoining processing of the root nodes network. Most of the existing techniques are based on detecting the failures but the use of path re-routing has also been neglected in the existing methods. Here, we have proposed a method of path re-routing for managing the authorized nodes and managing the keys for group in ad hoc environment. Securing Schemes, named as 2ACK and the EGSR schemes have been proposed, which may be truly interacted to most of the routing protocol. The path re-routing has the ability to reduce the ratio of dropped packets. The comparative analysis has clearly shown that the proposed technique outperforms the available techniques in terms of various quality metrics.

A MANET is a group of wireless mobile nodes which cooperate in forwarding packets over a wireless links. Due to the lack of an infrastructure and open nature of MANET, security has become an essential and challenging issue. The mobile nature and selfishness of malicious node is a critical issue in causing the security problem. The MANETs are more defenseless to the security attacks; some of them are black hole and gray hole attacks. One of its key challenges is to find black hole attack. In this paper, researchers propose a secure AODV protocol (SAODV) for detection and removal of black hole and gray hole attacks in MANTEs. The proposed method is simulated using NS-2 and it seems that the proposed methodology is more secure than the existing one.

Kulkarni, S., Sawihalli, A., Ambika, R., Naik, L..  2017.  Mobile powered sub-group detection/formation using taste-based collaborative filtering technique. 2017 Innovations in Power and Advanced Computing Technologies (i-PACT). :1–5.

Social networking sites such as Flickr, YouTube, Facebook, etc. contain huge amount of user contributed data for a variety of real-world events. We describe an unsupervised approach to the problem of automatically detecting subgroups of people holding similar tastes or either taste. Item or taste tags play an important role in detecting group or subgroup, if two or more persons share the same opinion on the item or taste, they tend to use similar content. We consider the latter to be an implicit attitude. In this paper, we have investigated the impact of implicit and explicit attitude in two genres of social media discussion data, more formal wikipedia discussions and a debate discussion forum that is much more informal. Experimental results strongly suggest that implicit attitude is an important complement for explicit attitudes (expressed via sentiment) and it can improve the sub-group detection performance independent of genre. Here, we have proposed taste-based group, which can enhance the quality of service.

Deeksha, Kumar, A., Bansal, M..  2017.  A review on VANET security attacks and their countermeasure. 2017 4th International Conference on Signal Processing, Computing and Control (ISPCC). :580–585.

In the development of smart cities across the world VANET plays a vital role for optimized route between source and destination. The VANETs is based on infra-structure less network. Nowadays, Vehicular ad hoc Network as a special class of Mobile ad hoc Network(MANET), provides plenty of services. However, it also brings the privacy protection issues, and there are conflicts between the privacy protection and the services. In this paper, we will propose a privacy protection algorithm based on group signature including two parts, group signature based anonymous verification and batch verification. The anonymous verification is based on the network model we proposed, which can reduce the trust authority burden by dividing the roadside units into different levels, and the batch verification can reduce the time of message verification in one group. We also prove our algorithm can satisfy the demand of privacy protection. Finally, the simulation shows that the algorithm we proposed is better than the BBS on the length of the signature, time delay and packet loss rate.

Martin-Escalona, I., Perrone, F., Zola, E., Barcelo-Arroyo, F..  2017.  Impact of unreliable positioning in location-based routing protocols for MANETs. 2017 13th International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC). :1534–1539.

MANETs have been focusing the interest of researchers for several years. The new scenarios where MANETs are being deployed make that several challenging issues remain open: node scalability, energy efficiency, network lifetime, Quality of Service (QoS), network overhead, data privacy and security, and effective routing. This latter is often seen as key since it frequently constrains the performance of the overall network. Location-based routing protocols provide a good solution for scalable MANETs. Although several location-based routing protocols have been proposed, most of them rely on error-free positions. Only few studies have focused so far on how positioning error affects the routing performance; also, most of them consider outdated solutions. This paper is aimed at filling this gap, by studying the impact of the error in the position of the nodes of two location-based routing protocols: DYMOselfwd and AODV-Line. These protocols were selected as they both aim at reducing the routing overhead. Simulations considering different mobility patterns in a dense network were conducted, so that the performance of these protocols can be assessed under ideal (i.e. error-less) and realistic (i.e. with error) conditions. The results show that AODV-Line builds less reliable routes than DYMOselfwd in case of error in the position information, thus increasing the routing overhead.

Li, T., Ma, J., Sun, C., Wei, D., Xi, N..  2017.  PVad: Privacy-Preserving Verification for Secure Routing in Ad Hoc Networks. 2017 International Conference on Networking and Network Applications (NaNA). :5–10.

Routing security has a great importance to the security of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs). There are various kinds of attacks when establishing routing path between source and destination. The adversaries attempt to deceive the source node and get the privilege of data transmission. Then they try to launch the malicious behaviors such as passive or active attacks. Due to the characteristics of the MANETs, e.g. dynamic topology, open medium, distributed cooperation, and constrained capability, it is difficult to verify the behavior of nodes and detect malicious nodes without revealing any privacy. In this paper, we present PVad, an approach conducting privacy-preserving verification in the routing discovery phase of MANETs. PVad tries to find the existing communication rules by association rules instead of making the rules. PVad consists of two phases, a reasoning phase deducing the expected log data of the peers, and a verification phase using Merkle Hash Tree to verify the correctness of derived information without revealing any privacy of nodes on expected routing paths. Without deploying any special nodes to assist the verification, PVad can detect multiple malicious nodes by itself. To show our approach can be used to guarantee the security of the MANETs, we conduct our experiments in NS3 as well as the real router environment, and we improved the detection accuracy by 4% on average compared to our former work.

Kumar, N. C., Basit, A., Singh, P., Venkaiah, V. C..  2017.  Proactive secret sharing for long lived MANETs using Elliptic Curve Cryptography. 2017 International Conference on Inventive Computing and Informatics (ICICI). :312–316.

Since MANETs are infrastructure-less, they heavily use secret sharing techniques to distribute and decentralize the role of a trusted third party, where the MANET secret s is shared among the legitimate nodes using (t, n) threshold secret sharing scheme. For long lived MANETs, the shared secret is periodically updated without changing the MANET secret based on proactive secret sharing using Elliptic Curve Cryptography(ECC). Hence, the adversary trying to learn the secret, needs to gain at-least t partial shares in the same time period. If the time period and the threshold value t are selected properly, proactive verifiable secret sharing can maintain the overall security of the information in long lived MANETs. The conventional cryptographic algorithms are heavy weight, require lot of computation power thus consuming lot of resources. In our proposal we used Elliptic Curve Cryptography to verify commitments as it requires smaller keys compared to existing proactive secret sharing techniques and makes it useful for MANETs, Which are formed of resource constraint devices.

Mobile cloud computing paradigm enables cloud servers to extend the limited hardware resources of mobile devices improving availability and reliability of the services provided. Consequently, private, financial, business and critical data pass through wireless access media exposed to malicious attacks. Mobile cloud infrastructure requires new security mechanisms, at the same time as offloading operations need to maintain the advantages of saving processing and energy of the device. Thus, this paper implements a middleware-based computational offloading with cryptographic algorithms and evaluates two mechanisms (symmetric and asymmetric), to provide the integrity and authenticity of data that a smartphone offloads to mobile cloud servers. Also, the paper discusses the factors that impact on power consumption and performance on smartphones that's run resource-intensive applications.
