Abbas, Qamber, Zeshan, Muhammad Umar, Asif, Muhammad.  2022.  A CNN-RNN Based Fake News Detection Model Using Deep Learning. 2022 International Seminar on Computer Science and Engineering Technology (SCSET). :40–45.

False news has become widespread in the last decade in political, economic, and social dimensions. This has been aided by the deep entrenchment of social media networking in these dimensions. Facebook and Twitter have been known to influence the behavior of people significantly. People rely on news/information posted on their favorite social media sites to make purchase decisions. Also, news posted on mainstream and social media platforms has a significant impact on a particular country’s economic stability and social tranquility. Therefore, there is a need to develop a deceptive system that evaluates the news to avoid the repercussions resulting from the rapid dispersion of fake news on social media platforms and other online platforms. To achieve this, the proposed system uses the preprocessing stage results to assign specific vectors to words. Each vector assigned to a word represents an intrinsic characteristic of the word. The resulting word vectors are then applied to RNN models before proceeding to the LSTM model. The output of the LSTM is used to determine whether the news article/piece is fake or otherwise.

Ramneet, Mudita, Gupta, Deepali.  2022.  ASMBoT: An Intelligent Sanitizing Robot in the Coronavirus Outbreak. 2022 1st IEEE International Conference on Industrial Electronics: Developments & Applications (ICIDeA). :106–109.
Technology plays a vital role in our lives to meet basic hygiene necessities. Currently, the whole world is facing an epidemic situation and the practice of using sanitizers is common nowadays. Sanitizers are used by people to sanitize their hands and bodies. It is also used for sanitizing objects that come into contact with the machine. While sanitizing a small area, people manage to sanitize via pumps, but it becomes difficult to sanitize the same area every day. One of the most severe sanitation concerns is a simple, economic and efficient method to adequately clean the indoor and outdoor environments. In particular, effective sanitization is required for people working in a clinical environment. Recently, some commonly used sanitizer techniques include electric sanitizer spray guns, electric sanitizer disinfectants, etc. However, these sanitizers are not automated, which means a person is required to roam personally with the device to every place to spray the disinfectant or sanitize an area. Therefore, a novel, cost-effective automatic sanitizing machine (ASM) named ASMBoT is designed that can dispense the sanitizer effectively by solving the aforementioned problems.

Michota, Alexandra, Polemi, Nineta.  2022.  A Supply Chain Service Cybersecurity Certification Scheme based on the Cybersecurity Act. 2022 IEEE International Conference on Cyber Security and Resilience (CSR). :382–387.
Since the provision of digital services in our days (e.g. container management, transport of COVID vaccinations or LNG) in most economic sectors (e.g. maritime, health, energy) involve national, EU and non-EU stakeholders compose complex Supply Chain Services (SCS). The security of the SCS is most important and it emphasized in the NIS 2 directive [3] and it is a shared responsibility of all stakeholders involved that will need to be compliant with a scheme. In this paper we present an overview of the proposed Cybersecurity Certification Scheme for Supply Chain Services (EUSCS) as proposed by the European Commission (EC) project CYRENE [1]. The EUSCS scheme covers all the three assurance levels defined in the Cybersecurity Act (CSA) [2] taking into consideration the criticality of SCS according to the NIS 2 directive [3], the ENISA Threat Landscape for Supply Chain Attacks [4] and the CYRENE extended online Information Security Management System (ISMS) that allows all SCS stakeholders to provide and access all information needed for certification purposes making the transition from current national schemes in the EU easier.

Barbàra, Fadi, Schifanella, Claudio.  2022.  BxTB: cross-chain exchanges of bitcoins for all Bitcoin wrapped tokens. 2022 Fourth International Conference on Blockchain Computing and Applications (BCCA). :143–150.
While it is possible to exchange tokens whose smart contracts are on the same blockchain, cross-exchanging bitcoins for a Bitcoin wrapped token is still cumbersome. In particular, current methods of exchange are still custodial and perform privacy-threatening controls on the users in order to operate. To solve this problem we present BxTB: cross-chain exchanges of bitcoins for any Bitcoin wrapped tokens. BxTB lets users achieve that by bypassing the mint-and-burn paradigm of current wrapped tokens and cross-exchanging already minted tokens in a P2P way. Instead of relaying on HTLCs and the overhead of communication and slowness due to time-locks, we leverage Stateless SPVs, i.e. proof-of-inclusion of transactions in the Bitcoin chain validated through a smart contract deployed on the other blockchain. Furthermore, since this primitive has not been introduced in the academic literature yet, we formally introduce it and we prove its security.

Historically, energy resources are of strategic importance for the social welfare and economic growth. So, predicting crude oil price fluctuations is an important issue. Since crude oil price changes are affected by many risk factors in markets, this price shows more complicated nonlinear behavior and creates more risk levels for investors than in the past. We propose a new method of prediction of crude oil price to model nonlinear dynamics. The results of the experiments show that the superior performance of the model based on the proposed method against statistical previous works is statistically significant. In general, we found that the combination of the IDBN or LSTM model lowered the MSE value to 4.65, which is 0.81 lower than the related work (Chen et al. protocol), indicating an improvement in prediction accuracy.

Kharitonov, Valerij A., Krivogina, Darya N., Salamatina, Anna S., Guselnikova, Elina D., Spirina, Varvara S., Markvirer, Vladlena D..  2022.  Intelligent Technologies for Projective Thinking and Research Management in the Knowledge Representation System. 2022 International Conference on Quality Management, Transport and Information Security, Information Technologies (IT&QM&IS). :292–295.
It is proposed to address existing methodological issues in the educational process with the development of intellectual technologies and knowledge representation systems to improve the efficiency of higher education institutions. For this purpose, the structure of relational database is proposed, it will store the information about defended dissertations in the form of a set of attributes (heuristics), representing the mandatory qualification attributes of theses. An inference algorithm is proposed to process the information. This algorithm represents an artificial intelligence, its work is aimed at generating queries based on the applicant preferences. The result of the algorithm's work will be a set of choices, presented in ranked order. Given technologies will allow applicants to quickly become familiar with known scientific results and serve as a starting point for new research. The demand for co-researcher practice in solving the problem of updating the projective thinking methodology and managing the scientific research process has been justified. This article pays attention to the existing parallels between the concepts of technical and human sciences in the framework of their convergence. The concepts of being (economic good and economic utility) and the concepts of consciousness (humanitarian economic good and humanitarian economic utility) are used to form projective thinking. They form direct and inverse correspondences of technology and humanitarian practice in the techno-humanitarian mathematical space. It is proposed to place processed information from the language of context-free formal grammar dissertation abstracts in this space. The principle of data manipulation based on formal languages with context-free grammar allows to create new structures of subject areas in terms of applicants' preferences. It is believed that the success of applicants’ work depends directly on the cognitive training of applicants, which needs to be practiced psychologically. This practice is based on deepening the objectivity and adequacy qualities of obtaining information on the basis of heuristic methods. It requires increased attention and development of intelligence. The paper studies the use of heuristic methods by applicants to find new research directions leads to several promising results. These results can be perceived as potential options in future research. This contributes to an increase in the level of retention of higher education professionals.

Chen, Shengjian.  2022.  Trustworthy Internet Based on Generalized Blockchain. 2022 International Conference on Blockchain Technology and Information Security (ICBCTIS). :5–12.
It is the key to the Internet's expansion of social and economic functions by ensuring the credibility of online users' identities and behaviors while taking into account privacy protection. Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and blockchain technology have provided ways to achieve credibility from different perspectives. Based on these two technologies, we attempt to generalize people's offline activities to online ones with our proposed model, Atom and Molecule. We then present the strict definition of trustworthy system and the trustworthy Internet. The definition of Generalized Blockchain and its practical implementation are provided as well.

We propose DecCert, a decentralized public key infrastructure designed as a smart contract that solves the problem of identity attestation on public blockchains. Our system allows an individual to bind an identity to a public blockchain address. Once a claim of identity is made by an individual, other users can choose to verify the attested identity based on the evidence presented by an identity claim maker by staking cryptocurrency in the DecCert smart contract. Increasing levels of trust are naturally built based upon the amount staked and the duration the collateral is staked for. This mechanism replaces the usual utilization of digital signatures in a traditional hierarchical certificate authority model or the web of trust model to form a publicly verifiable decentralized stake of trust model. We also present a novel solution to the certificate revocation problem and implement our solution on the Ethereum blockchain. Further, we show that our design solves Zooko’s triangle as defined for public key infrastructure deployments.

The outages and power shortages are common occurrences in today's world and they have a significant economic impact. These failures can be minimized by making the power grid topologically robust. Therefore, the vulnerability assessment in power systems has become a major concern. This paper considers both pure and extended topological method to analyse the vulnerability of the power system to single line failures. The lines are ranked based on four spectral graph metrics: spectral radius, algebraic connectivity, natural connectivity, and effective graph resistance. A correlation is established between all the four metrics. The impact of load uncertainty on the component ranking has been investigated. The vulnerability assessment has been done on IEEE 9-bus system. It is observed that load variation has minor impact on the ranking.

The vehicle-to-grid (V2G) network has a clear advantage in terms of economic benefits, and it has grabbed the interest of powergrid and electric vehicle (EV) consumers. Many V2G techniques, at present, for example, use bilinear pairing to execute the authentication scheme, which results in significant computational costs. Furthermore, in the existing V2G techniques, the system master key is issued independently by the third parties, it is vulnerable to leaking if the third party is compromised by an attacker. This paper presents an efficient and secure anonymous authentication scheme for V2G networks to overcome this issue we use a lightweight authentication system for electric vehicles and smart grids. In the proposed technique, the keys are generated by the trusted authority after the successful registration of EVs in the trusted authority and the dispatching center. The suggested scheme not only enhances the verification performance of V2G networks and also protects against inbuilt hackers.

Jiang, Suhan, Wu, Jie.  2021.  On Game-theoretic Computation Power Diversification in the Bitcoin Mining Network. 2021 IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (CNS). :83–91.
In the Bitcoin mining network, miners contribute computation power to solve crypto-puzzles in exchange for financial rewards. Due to the randomness and the competitiveness of mining, individual miners tend to join mining pools for low risks and steady incomes. Usually, a pool is managed by its central operator, who charges fees for providing risk-sharing services. This paper presents a hierarchical distributed computation paradigm where miners can distribute their power among multiple pools. By adding virtual pools, we separate miners’ dual roles of being the operator as well as being the member when solo mining. We formulate a multi-leader multi-follower Stackelberg game to study the joint utility maximization of pool operators and miners, thereby addressing a computation power allocation problem. We investigate two practical pool operation modes, a uniform-share-difficulty mode and a nonuniform-share-difficulty mode. We derive analytical results for the Stackelberg equilibrium of the game under both modes, based on which optimal strategies are designed for all operators and miners. Numerical evaluations are presented to verify the proposed model.

In the recent years, sustainability has becoming an important topic in agro-food supply chain. Moreover, these supply chains are more vulnerable due to different interrelated risks from man-made and natural disasters. However, most of the previous studies consider less about interrelation in assessing sustainability risks. The purpose of this research is to develop a framework to assess supply chain sustainability risks by rnking environmental risks, economic risks, social risks and operational risks. To solve this problem, the proposed methodology is an integrated rough decision- making and trial evaluation laboratory (DEMA℡) method that consider the interrelationship between different risks and the group preference diversity. In order to evaluate the applicability of the proposed method, a real-world case study of Tunisian agro-food company is presented. The results show that the most important risks are corruption, inflation and uncertainty in supply and demand.
Wei, Yihang.  2020.  Blockchain-based Data Traceability Platform Architecture for Supply Chain Management. :77—85.
{With the rapid development of economic globalization, cooperation between countries, between enterprises, has become a key factor whether country and enterprises can make great economic progress. In these cooperation processes, it is necessary to trace the source of business data or log data for auditing and accountability. However, multi-party enterprises participating in cooperation often do not trust each other, and the separate accounting of the enterprises leads to isolated islands of information, which makes it difficult to trace the entire life cycle of the data. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a mechanism that can establish distributed trustworthiness among multiparty organizations that do not trust each other, and provide a tamper-resistant data storage mechanism to achieve credible traceability of data. This work proposes a data traceability platform architecture design plan for supply chain management based on the multi-disciplinary knowledge and technology of the Fabric Alliance chain architecture, perceptual identification technology, and cryptographic knowledge. At the end of the paper, the characteristics and shortcomings of data traceability of this scheme are evaluated.

Information security of logistics services. Information security of logistics services is understood as a complex activity aimed at using information and means of its processing in order to increase the level of protection and normal functioning of the object's information environment. At the same time the main recommendations for ensuring information security of logistics processes include: logistics support of processes for ensuring the security of information flows of the enterprise; assessment of the quality and reliability of elements, reliability and efficiency of obtaining information about the state of logistics processes. However, it is possible to assess the level of information security within the organization's controlled part of the supply chain through levels and indicators. In this case, there are four levels and elements of information security of supply chains.

Edge computing brings processing and storage capabilities closer to the data sources, to reduce network latency, save bandwidth, and preserve data locality. Despite the clear benefits, this paradigm brings unprecedented cyber risks due to the combination of the security issues and challenges typical of cloud and Internet of Things (IoT) worlds. Notwithstanding an increasing interest in edge security by academic and industrial communities, there is still no discernible industry consensus on edge computing security best practices, and activities like threat analysis and countermeasure selection are still not well established and are completely left to security experts. In order to cope with the need for a simplified yet effective threat modeling process, which is affordable in presence of limited security skills and economic resources, and viable in modern development approaches, in this paper, we propose an automated threat modeling and countermeasure selection strategy targeting edge computing systems. Our approach leverages a comprehensive system model able to describe the main involved architectural elements and the associated data flow, with a focus on the specific properties that may actually impact on the applicability of threats and of associated countermeasures.

Over the past decade, cyber-attack events on the electricity grid are on the rise and have proven to result in severe consequences in grid operation. These attacks are becoming more intelligent and can bypass existing protection protocols, resulting in economic losses due to system operating in a falsified and non-optimal condition over a prolonged period. Hence, it is crucial to develop defense tools to detect and mitigate the attack to minimize the cost of malicious operation. This paper aims to develop a novel command verification strategy to detect and mitigate False Data Injection Attacks (FDIAs) targeting the system centralized Economic Dispatch (ED) control signals. Firstly, we describe the ED problem in Singapore's deregulated market. We then perform a risk assessment and formulate two FDIA vectors - Man in the Middle (MITM) and Stealth attack on the ED control process. Subsequently, we propose a novel verification technique based on Multi-Agent System (MAS) to validate the control commands. This algorithm has been tested on the IEEE 6-Bus 3-generator test system, and experimental results verified that the proposed algorithm can detect and mitigate the FDIA vectors.

Wang, Yan, Allouache, Yacine, Joubert, Christian.  2021.  A Staffing Recommender System based on Domain-Specific Knowledge Graph. 2021 Eighth International Conference on Social Network Analysis, Management and Security (SNAMS). :1—6.
In the economics environment, Job Matching is always a challenge involving the evolution of knowledge and skills. A good matching of skills and jobs can stimulate the growth of economics. Recommender System (RecSys), as one kind of Job Matching, can help the candidates predict the future job relevant to their preferences. However, RecSys still has the problem of cold start and data sparsity. The content-based filtering in RecSys needs the adaptive data for the specific staffing tasks of Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT). In this paper, we propose a job RecSys based on skills and locations using a domain-specific Knowledge Graph (KG). This system has three parts: a pipeline of Named Entity Recognition (NER) and Relation Extraction (RE) using BERT; a standardization system for pre-processing, semantic enrichment and semantic similarity measurement; a domain-specific Knowledge Graph (KG). Two different relations in the KG are computed by cosine similarity and Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) respectively. The raw data used in the staffing RecSys include 3000 descriptions of job offers from Indeed, 126 Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English from Kaggle and 106 CV in French from Linx of Capgemini Engineering. The staffing RecSys is integrated under an architecture of Microservices. The autonomy and effectiveness of the staffing RecSys are verified through the experiment using Discounted Cumulative Gain (DCG). Finally, we propose several potential research directions for this research.
