Peng, Chunying, Xu, Haixia, Li, Peili.  2022.  Redactable Blockchain Using Lattice-based Chameleon Hash Function. 2022 International Conference on Blockchain Technology and Information Security (ICBCTIS). :94–98.
Blockchain as a tamper-proof, non-modifiable and traceable distributed ledger technology has received extensive attention. Although blockchain's immutability provides security guarantee, it prevents the development of new blockchain technology. As we think, there are several arguments to prefer a controlled modifiable blockchain, from the possibility to cancel the transaction and necessity to remove the illicit or harmful documents, to the ability to support the scalability of blockchain. Meanwhile, the rapid development of quantum technology has made the establishment of post-quantum cryptosystems an urgent need. In this paper, we put forward the first lattice-based redactable consortium blockchain scheme that makes it possible to rewrite or repeal the content of any blocks. Our approach uses a consensus-based election and lattice-based chameleon hash function (Cash and Hofheinz etc. EUROCRYPT 2010). With knowledge of secret trapdoor, the participant could find the hash collisions efficiently. And each member of the consortium blockchain has the right to edit the history.
Park, Sihn-Hye, Lee, Seok-Won.  2022.  Threat-driven Risk Assessment for APT Attacks using Risk-Aware Problem Domain Ontology. 2022 IEEE 30th International Requirements Engineering Conference Workshops (REW). :226–231.
Cybersecurity attacks, which have many business impacts, continuously become more intelligent and complex. These attacks take the form of a combination of various attack elements. APT attacks reflect this characteristic well. To defend against APT attacks, organizations should sufficiently understand these attacks based on the attack elements and their relations and actively defend against these attacks in multiple dimensions. Most organizations perform risk management to manage their information security. Generally, they use the information system risk assessment (ISRA). However, the method has difficulties supporting sufficiently analyzing security risks and actively responding to these attacks due to the limitations of asset-driven qualitative evaluation activities. In this paper, we propose a threat-driven risk assessment method. This method can evaluate how dangerous APT attacks are for an organization, analyze security risks from multiple perspectives, and support establishing an adaptive security strategy.

Pehlivanoglu, Meltem Kurt, Demir, Mehmet Ali.  2022.  A Framework for Global Optimization of Linear Layers in SPN Block Ciphers. 2022 15th International Conference on Information Security and Cryptography (ISCTURKEY). :13—18.
In this paper, we design a new framework that can utilize the current global optimization heuristics for solving the straight-line program (SLP) problem. We combine Paar1, Paar2, BP (Boyar-Peralta), BFI, RNBP (Random-Boyar Peralta), A1, A2, XZLBZ, and LWFWSW (backward search) state-of-the-art heuristics by taking the XOR (exclusive OR) count metrics into consideration. Thus, by using the proposed framework, optimal circuit implementations of a given diffusion (or linear) layer can be found with fewer XOR gate counts.

Cyber attacks keep states, companies and individuals at bay, draining precious resources including time, money, and reputation. Attackers thereby seem to have a first mover advantage leading to a dynamic defender attacker game. Automated approaches taking advantage of Cyber Threat Intelligence on past attacks bear the potential to empower security professionals and hence increase cyber security. Consistently, there has been a lot of research on automated approaches in cyber risk management including works on predictive attack algorithms and threat hunting. Combining data on countermeasures from “MITRE Detection, Denial, and Disruption Framework Empowering Network Defense” and adversarial data from “MITRE Adversarial Tactics, Techniques and Common Knowledge” this work aims at developing methods that enable highly precise and efficient automatic incident response. We introduce Attack Incident Responder, a methodology working with simple heuristics to find the most efficient sets of counter-measures for hypothesized attacks. By doing so, the work contributes to narrowing the attackers first mover advantage. Experimental results are promising high average precisions in predicting effiective defenses when using the methodology. In addition, we compare the proposed defense measures against a static set of defensive techniques offering robust security against observed attacks. Furthermore, we combine the approach of automated incidence response to an approach for threat hunting enabling full automation of security operation centers. By this means, we define a threshold in the precision of attack hypothesis generation that must be met for predictive defense algorithms to outperform the baseline. The calculated threshold can be used to evaluate attack hypothesis generation algorithms. The presented methodology for automated incident response may be a valuable support for information security professionals. Last, the work elaborates on the combination of static base defense with adaptive incidence response for generating a bio-inspired artificial immune system for computerized networks.

Petrenko, Vyacheslav, Tebueva, Fariza, Ryabtsev, Sergey, Antonov, Vladimir, Struchkov, Igor.  2022.  Data Based Identification of Byzantine Robots for Collective Decision Making. 2022 13th Asian Control Conference (ASCC). :1724–1727.
The development of new types of technology actualizes the issues of ensuring their information security. The aim of the work is to increase the security of the collective decision-making process in swarm robotic systems from negative impacts by identifying malicious robots. It is proposed to use confidence in choosing an alternative when reaching a consensus as a criterion for identifying malicious robots - a malicious robot, having a special behavior strategy, does not fully take into account the signs of the external environment and information from other robots, which means that such a robot will change its mind with characteristic features for each malicious strategy, and its degree of confidence will be different from the usual voting robot. The modeling performed and the obtained experimental data on three types of malicious behavioral strategies demonstrate the possibility of using the degree of confidence to identify malicious robots. The advantages of the approach are taking into account a large number of alternatives and universality, which lies in the fact that the method is based on the mechanisms of collective decision-making, which proceed in the same way on various hardware platforms of swarm robotic systems. The proposed method can serve as a basis for the development of more complex security mechanisms in swarm robotic systems.

This paper proposes 2 multiple layer message security schemes. Information security is carried out through the implementation of cryptography, steganography and image processing techniques. In both schemes, the sensitive data is first encrypted by employing a chaotic function. In the first proposed scheme, LSB steganography is then applied to 2D slices of a 3D image. In the second proposed scheme, a corner detection filter is first applied to the 2D slices of a 3D image, then LSB embedding is carried out in those corner-detected pixels. The number of neighboring pixels used for corner detection is varied and its effect is noted. Performance of the proposed schemes is numerically evaluated using a number of metrics, including the mean squared error (MSE), the peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), the structure similarity index measure (SSIM), the normalized cross-correlation (NCC), the image fidelity (IF), as well as the image difference (ID). The proposed schemes exhibit superior payload capacity and security in comparison to their counterparts from the literature.
Florin Ilca, Lucian, Balan, Titus.  2021.  Windows Communication Foundation Penetration Testing Methodology. 2021 16th International Conference on Engineering of Modern Electric Systems (EMES). :1—4.
Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) is a communication framework for building connected, service-oriented applications, initially released by Microsoft as part of.NET Framework, but now open source. The WCF message-based communication is a very popular solution used for sending asynchronous messages from one service endpoint to another. Because WCF provides many functionalities it has a large-consuming development model and often the security measures implemented in applications are not proper. In this study we propose a methodology for offensive security analysis of an WCF endpoint or service, from red team perspective. A step by step approach, empirical information, and detailed analysis report of WCF vulnerabilities are presented. We conclude by proposing recommendations for mitigating attacks and securing endpoints.

Faris, Humam, Yazid, Setiadi.  2021.  Phishing Web Page Detection Methods: URL and HTML Features Detection. 2020 IEEE International Conference on Internet of Things and Intelligence System (IoTaIS). :167—171.
Phishing is a type of fraud on the Internet in the form of fake web pages that mimic the original web pages to trick users into sending sensitive information to phisher. The statistics presented by APWG and Phistank show that the number of phishing websites from 2015 to 2020 tends to increase continuously. To overcome this problem, several studies have been carried out including detecting phishing web pages using various features of web pages with various methods. Unfortunately, the use of several methods is not really effective because the design and evaluation are only too focused on the achievement of detection accuracy in research, but evaluation does not represent application in the real world. Whereas a security detection device should require effectiveness, good performance, and deployable. In this study the authors evaluated several methods and proposed rules-based applications that can detect phishing more efficiently.

In the Internet of Things, it is more important than ever to effectively address the problem of secure transmission based on steganographic substitution by synthesizing digital sensor data. In this case, the degree to which the grayscale message is obscured is a necessary issue. To ensure information security in IoT systems, various methods are used and information security problems are solved to one degree or another. The article proposes a method and algorithm for a computer image in grayscale, in which the value of each pixel is one sample, representing the amount of light, carrying only information about the intensity. The proposed method in grayscale using steganographic coding provides a secure implementation of data transmission in the IoT system. Study results were analyzed using PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio).
