Liu, Shuyong, Jiang, Hongrui, Li, Sizhao, Yang, Yang, Shen, Linshan.  2020.  A Feature Compression Technique for Anomaly Detection Using Convolutional Neural Networks. 2020 IEEE 14th International Conference on Anti-counterfeiting, Security, and Identification (ASID). :39–42.
Anomaly detection classification technology based on deep learning is one of the crucial technologies supporting network security. However, as the data increasing, this traditional model cannot guarantee that the false alarm rate is minimized while meeting the high detection rate. Additionally, distribution of imbalanced abnormal samples will lead to an increase in the error rate of the classification results. In this work, since CNN is effective in network intrusion classification, we embed a compressed feature layer in CNN (Convolutional Neural Networks). The purpose is to improve the efficiency of network intrusion detection. After our model was trained for 55 epochs and we set the learning rate of the model to 0.01, the detection rate reaches over 98%.

Yu, X., Li, T., Hu, A..  2020.  Time-series Network Anomaly Detection Based on Behaviour Characteristics. 2020 IEEE 6th International Conference on Computer and Communications (ICCC). :568–572.
In the application scenarios of cloud computing, big data, and mobile Internet, covert and diverse network attacks have become a serious problem that threatens the security of enterprises and personal information assets. Abnormal network behaviour detection based on network behaviour characteristics has become an important means to protect network security. However, existing frameworks do not make full use of the characteristics of the correlation between continuous network behaviours, and do not use an algorithm that can process time-series data or process the original feature set into time-series data to match the algorithm. This paper proposes a time-series abnormal network behaviour detection framework. The framework consists of two parts: an algorithm model (DBN-BiGRU) that combines Deep Belief Network (DBN) and Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Unit (BiGRU), and a pre-processing scheme that processes the original feature analysis files of CICIDS2017 to good time-series data. This detection framework uses past and future behaviour information to determine current behaviours, which can improve accuracy, and can adapt to the large amount of existing network traffic and high-dimensional characteristics. Finally, this paper completes the training of the algorithm model and gets the test results. Experimental results show that the prediction accuracy of this framework is as high as 99.82%, which is better than the traditional frameworks that do not use time-series information.

Kumar, B. S., Daniya, T., Sathya, N., Cristin, R..  2020.  Investigation on Privacy Preserving using K-Anonymity Techniques. 2020 International Conference on Computer Communication and Informatics (ICCCI). :1—7.

In the current world, day by day the data growth and the investigation about that information increased due to the pervasiveness of computing devices, but people are reluctant to share their information on online portals or surveys fearing safety because sensitive information such as credit card information, medical conditions and other personal information in the wrong hands can mean danger to the society. These days privacy preserving has become a setback for storing data in data repository so for that reason data in the repository should be made undistinguishable, data is encrypted while storing and later decrypted when needed for analysis purpose in data mining. While storing the raw data of the individuals it is important to remove person-identifiable information such as name, employee id. However, the other attributes pertaining to the person should be encrypted so the methodologies used to implement. These methodologies can make data in the repository secure and PPDM task can made easier.

Hussain, M. S., Khan, K. U. R..  2020.  Network-based Anomaly Intrusion Detection System in MANETS. 2020 Fourth International Conference on Inventive Systems and Control (ICISC). :881—886.

In the communication model of wired and wireless Adhoc networks, the most needed requirement is the integration of security. Mobile Adhoc networks are more aroused with the attacks compared to the wired environment. Subsequently, the characteristics of Mobile Adhoc networks are also influenced by the vulnerability. The pre-existing unfolding solutions are been obtained for infrastructure-less networks. However, these solutions are not always necessarily suitable for wireless networks. Further, the framework of wireless Adhoc networks has uncommon vulnerabilities and due to this behavior it is not protected by the same solutions, therefore the detection mechanism of intrusion is combinedly used to protect the Manets. Several intrusion detection techniques that have been developed for a fixed wired network cannot be applied in this new environment. Furthermore, The issue of intensity in terms of energy is of a major kind due to which the life of the working battery is very limited. The objective this research work is to detect the Anomalous behavior of nodes in Manet's and Experimental analysis is done by making use of Network Simulator-2 to do the comparative analysis for the existing algorithm, we enhanced the previous algorithm in order to improve the Energy efficiency and results shown the improvement of energy of battery life and Throughput is checked with respect to simulation of test case analysis. In this paper, the proposed algorithm is compared with the existing approach.

Trusted collaboration satisfying the requirements of (a) adequate transparency and (b) preservation of privacy of business sensitive information is a key factor to ensure the success and adoption of online business-to-business (B2B) collaboration platforms. Our work proposes novel ways of stringing together game theoretic modeling, blockchain technology, and cryptographic techniques to build such a platform for B2B collaboration involving enterprise buyers and sellers who may be strategic. The B2B platform builds upon three ideas. The first is to use a permissioned blockchain with smart contracts as the technical infrastructure for building the platform. Second, the above smart contracts implement deep business logic which is derived using a rigorous analysis of a repeated game model of the strategic interactions between buyers and sellers to devise strategies to induce honest behavior from buyers and sellers. Third, we present a formal framework that captures the essential requirements for secure and private B2B collaboration, and, in this direction, we develop cryptographic regulation protocols that, in conjunction with the blockchain, help implement such a framework. We believe our work is an important first step in the direction of building a platform that enables B2B collaboration among strategic and competitive agents while maximizing social welfare and addressing the privacy concerns of the agents.

Wang, X., Herwono, I., Cerbo, F. D., Kearney, P., Shackleton, M..  2018.  Enabling Cyber Security Data Sharing for Large-scale Enterprises Using Managed Security Services. 2018 IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (CNS). :1—7.
Large enterprises and organizations from both private and public sectors typically outsource a platform solution, as part of the Managed Security Services (MSSs), from 3rd party providers (MSSPs) to monitor and analyze their data containing cyber security information. Sharing such data among these large entities is believed to improve their effectiveness and efficiency at tackling cybercrimes, via improved analytics and insights. However, MSS platform customers currently are not able or not willing to share data among themselves because of multiple reasons, including privacy and confidentiality concerns, even when they are using the same MSS platform. Therefore any proposed mechanism or technique to address such a challenge need to ensure that sharing is achieved in a secure and controlled way. In this paper, we propose a new architecture and use case driven designs to enable confidential, flexible and collaborative data sharing among such organizations using the same MSS platform. MSS platform is a complex environment where different stakeholders, including authorized MSSP personnel and customers' own users, have access to the same platform but with different types of rights and tasks. Hence we make every effort to improve the usability of the platform supporting sharing while keeping the existing rights and tasks intact. As an innovative and pioneering attempt to address the challenge of data sharing in the MSS platform, we hope to encourage further work to follow so that confidential and collaborative sharing eventually happens among MSS platform customers.

Security is one of the main and continual challenges that restrict government stakeholders (e.g. citizens) engagement with the cloud services. This paper has as its objective the discovery of the security perceptions of cloud-based e-government services from the citizens' and IT-staff perspectives. It investigates the factors that influence the citizen's perception of security. Little efforts have been done by previous literature to investigate and analyze the integration between citizens' concerns regarding the perceived security and those of IT -staff, the current study highlights this issue. This work provides an empirical study to understand citizens' priorities, needs and expectations regarding the perceived security of cloud-based e-government services which are a novel e-government initiative in Jordan, also enriches the existing security perceptions literature by introducing new insights. An interpretive-qualitative approach was adopted, as it helps to understand the participants' perceptions in the research natural setting.

Human is the weakest link in information security. Even with strong cyber security policies an organization can still be hacked because of a human error. Even if people are aware of the policies and their importance they might not behave accordingly. This shows to the importance of studying and measuring human behavior toward cyber security policies. This paper introduces a new instrument that can be used to measure human behavior toward cybersecurity policies through creative measures. The goal is to gather data about human behaviors toward cybersecurity policies in natural environment. This method of gathering information allows people to behave normally and don't feel the need to answer perfectly. The paper illustrates all the previous work related to the subject, summarizing previous work in order to improve what have been previously done. The methodology seeks on measuring behavior based on specific measures. These measures are the password, email, identity, sensitive data, and physical/resource security. Each measure has a number of policies used to measure behavior. These policies were selected among several policies based on literature from the same field and the opinion of experts in the field. These question that went through several rounds of check were used to build the proposed-instrument. This instrument then shall be used by researchers to collect data and perform the required analysis. This paper discusses the behavior pattern in a detail and concise manner. The paper demonstrates that it is posable to measure behavior if the right we questions were asked in the right way.

One of the most difficult tasks in networking is to provide security to data during transmission, the main issue using network is lack of security. Various techniques and methods had been introduced to satisfy the needs to enhance the firmness of the data while transmitting over internet. Due to several reasons and intruders the mechanism of providing security becomes a tedious task. At first conventional passwords are used to provide security to data while storing and transmitting but remembering the password quite confusing and difficult for the user to access the data. After that cryptography methodology is introduced to protect the data from the intruders by converting readable form of data into unreadable data by encryption process. Then the data is processed and received the receiver can access the original data by the reverse process of encryption called decryption. The processes of encoding have broken by intruders using various combinations of keys. In this proposed work strong encryption key can be generated by combining biometric and cryptography methods for enhancing firmness of data. Here biometric face image is pre-processed at initial stage then facial features are extracted to generate biometric-cryptographic key. After generating bio-crypto key data can be encrypted along with newly produced key with 0's or 1's bit combination and stored in the database. By generating bio-crypto key and using them for transmitting or storing the data the privacy and firmness of the data can be enhanced and by using own biometrics as key the process of hacking and interfere of intruders to access the data can be minimized.
Traylor, Terry, Straub, Jeremy, Gurmeet, Snell, Nicholas.  2019.  Classifying Fake News Articles Using Natural Language Processing to Identify In-Article Attribution as a Supervised Learning Estimator. 2019 IEEE 13th International Conference on Semantic Computing (ICSC). :445—449.

Intentionally deceptive content presented under the guise of legitimate journalism is a worldwide information accuracy and integrity problem that affects opinion forming, decision making, and voting patterns. Most so-called `fake news' is initially distributed over social media conduits like Facebook and Twitter and later finds its way onto mainstream media platforms such as traditional television and radio news. The fake news stories that are initially seeded over social media platforms share key linguistic characteristics such as making excessive use of unsubstantiated hyperbole and non-attributed quoted content. In this paper, the results of a fake news identification study that documents the performance of a fake news classifier are presented. The Textblob, Natural Language, and SciPy Toolkits were used to develop a novel fake news detector that uses quoted attribution in a Bayesian machine learning system as a key feature to estimate the likelihood that a news article is fake. The resultant process precision is 63.333% effective at assessing the likelihood that an article with quotes is fake. This process is called influence mining and this novel technique is presented as a method that can be used to enable fake news and even propaganda detection. In this paper, the research process, technical analysis, technical linguistics work, and classifier performance and results are presented. The paper concludes with a discussion of how the current system will evolve into an influence mining system.

The article considers some aspects of modeling information security circuits for information and communication systems used in Smart City. As a basic research paradigm, the postulates of game theory and mathematical dependencies based on Markov processes were used. Thus, it is possible to sufficiently substantively describe the procedure for selecting rational variants of cyber security systems used to protect information technologies in Smart City. At the same time, using the model proposed by us, we can calculate the probability of cyber threats for the Smart City systems, as well as the cybernetic risks of diverse threats. Further, on the basis of the described indicators, rational contour options are chosen to protect the information systems used in Smart City.

In this paper, an intruder detection system has been built with an implementation of convolutional neural network (CNN) using raspberry pi, Microsoft's Azure and Twilio cloud systems. The CNN algorithm which is stored in the cloud is implemented to basically classify input data as either intruder or user. By using the raspberry pi as the middleware and raspberry pi camera for image acquisition, efficient execution of the learning and classification operations are performed using higher resources that cloud computing offers. The cloud system is also programmed to alert designated users via multimedia messaging services (MMS) when intruders or users are detected. Furthermore, our work has demonstrated that, though convolutional neural network could impose high computing demands on a processor, the input data could be obtained with low-cost modules and middleware which are of low processing power while subjecting the actual learning algorithm execution to the cloud system.

IoT trust management is a security solution that assures the trust between different IoT entities before establishing any relationship with other anonymous devices. Recent researches presented in the literature tend to use a Blockchain-based trust management model for IoT besides the fog node approach in order to address the constraints of IoT resources. Actually, Blockchain has solved many drawbacks of centralized models. However, it is still not preferable for dealing with massive data produced by IoT because of its drawbacks such as delay, network overhead, and scalability issues. Therefore, in this paper we define some factors that should be considered when designing scalable models, and we propose a fully distributed trust management model for IoT that provide a large-scale trust model and address the limitations of Blockchain. We design our model based on a new approach called Holochain considering some security issues, such as detecting misbehaviors, data integrity and availability.

The past decade has seen a growing interest in underwater acoustic positioning networks (UAPNs) because of their wide applications in marine research, ocean monitoring, offshore exploration, and defense or homeland security. Efficient communication among all sensors and receivers is crucial so as to make positioning service available. Traditional UAPNs could locate only one target, that are growing obsolete due to increasing demands for multiple users working at the same time. Due to the demands for multiple users working simultaneously and narrow acoustic bandwidth, new efficient and reliable communication and networking protocols are required in design for UAPNs. In this paper, we aim to provide the procedure of communication design for UAPNs based on sonar equation and spread spectrum communication. What's more, signal design and performance analysis are supplied. The results show that the signal we designed have ideal correlation performance and high processing gain. The signal is suitable for multiple users UAPNs and thus show favorable potential in ocean engineering applications.

Biswas, Sonam, Roy, Abhishek.  2019.  An Intrusion Detection System Based Secured Electronic Service Delivery Model. 2019 3rd International conference on Electronics, Communication and Aerospace Technology (ICECA). :1316–1321.
Emergence of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has facilitated its users to access electronic services through open channel like Internet. This approach of digital communication has its specific security lapses, which should be addressed properly to ensure Privacy, Integrity, Non-repudiation and Authentication (PINA) of information. During message communication, intruders may mount infringement attempts to compromise the communication. The situation becomes critical, if an user is identified by multiple identification numbers, as in that case, intruder have a wide window open to use any of its identification number to fulfill its ill intentions. To resolve this issue, author have proposed a single window based cloud service delivery model, where a smart card serves as a single interface to access multifaceted electronic services like banking, healthcare, employment, etc. To detect and prevent unauthorized access, in this paper, authors have focused on the intrusion detection system of the cloud service model during cloud banking transaction.

This SQL injection attack is one of the common means for hackers to attack database. With the development of B/S mode application development, more and more programmers use this mode to write applications. However, due to the uneven level and experience of programmers, a considerable number of programmers do not judge the legitimacy of user input data when writing code, which makes the application security risks. Users can submit a database query code and get some data they want to know according to the results of the program. SQL injection attack belongs to one of the means of database security attack. It can be effectively protected by database security protection technology. This paper introduces the principle of SQL injection, the main form of SQL injection attack, the types of injection attack, and how to prevent SQL injection. Discussed and illustrated with examples.

The use of technology is increasing nowadays. On the other hand, most governments and legal offices still do not use technology to implement simple things such as signing a document because they still rely on face-to-face to ensure the authenticity of the signatory. Several challenges may come while signing documents online such as, how to authenticate the signing parties and how to ensure that signing parties will not deny their signatures in future? These challenges are addressed by SecureSign system that attach the signatories' identity with their fingerprints. SecureSign was implemented in C\# and Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, with integrating fingerprint reader and electronic signature tablet. The SecureSign system achieves the main security goals which are confidentiality, authentication, non-repudiation and integrity. It will have an impact on society and business environments positively as it will reduce fraud and forgery, and help in controlling the process of signing either in contracts or confidential papers. SecureSign have Successfully achieved confidentiality by encrypting data using AES algorithm, authentication by using user fingerprint, nonrepudiation by associating the user ID with his fingerprint, and integrity by embedding QR barcode within the document and hashing its content.

Yazici, I. M., Karabulut, E., Aktas, M. S..  2018.  A Data Provenance Visualization Approach. 2018 14th International Conference on Semantics, Knowledge and Grids (SKG). :84–91.
Data Provenance has created an emerging requirement for technologies that enable end users to access, evaluate, and act on the provenance of data in recent years. In the era of Big Data, the amount of data created by corporations around the world has grown each year. As an example, both in the Social Media and e-Science domains, data is growing at an unprecedented rate. As the data has grown rapidly, information on the origin and lifecycle of the data has also grown. In turn, this requires technologies that enable the clarification and interpretation of data through the use of data provenance. This study proposes methodologies towards the visualization of W3C-PROV-O Specification compatible provenance data. The visualizations are done by summarization and comparison of the data provenance. We facilitated the testing of these methodologies by providing a prototype, extending an existing open source visualization tool. We discuss the usability of the proposed methodologies with an experimental study; our initial results show that the proposed approach is usable, and its processing overhead is negligible.

Public key infrastructure (PKI) is the foundation and core of network security construction. Blockchain (BC) has many technical characteristics, such as decentralization, impossibility of being tampered with and forged, which makes it have incomparable advantages in ensuring information credibility, security, traceability and other aspects of traditional technology. In this paper, a method of constructing PKI certificate system based on permissioned BC is proposed. The problems of multi-CA mutual trust, poor certificate configuration efficiency and single point failure in digital certificate system are solved by using the characteristics of BC distribution and non-tampering. At the same time, in order to solve the problem of identity privacy on BC, this paper proposes a privacy-aware PKI system based on permissioned BCs. This system is an anonymous digital certificate publishing scheme., which achieves the separation of user registration and authorization, and has the characteristics of anonymity and conditional traceability, so as to realize to protect user's identity privacy. The system meets the requirements of certificate security and anonymity, reduces the cost of CA construction, operation and maintenance in traditional PKI technology, and improves the efficiency of certificate application and configuration.

Shamieh, F., Alharbi, R..  2018.  Novel Sybil Defense Scheme for Peer–to–peer Applications. 2018 21st Saudi Computer Society National Computer Conference (NCC). :1–8.

The importance of peer-to-peer (P2P) network overlays produced enormous interest in the research community due to their robustness, scalability, and increase of data availability. P2P networks are overlays of logically connected hosts and other nodes including servers. P2P networks allow users to share their files without the need for any centralized servers. Since P2P networks are largely constructed of end-hosts, they are susceptible to abuse and malicious activity, such as sybil attacks. Impostors perform sybil attacks by assigning nodes multiple addresses, as opposed to a single address, with the goal of degrading network quality. Sybil nodes will spread malicious data and provide bogus responses to requests. To prevent sybil attacks from occurring, a novel defense mechanism is proposed. In the proposed scheme, the DHT key-space is divided and treated in a similar manner to radio frequency allocation incensing. An overlay of trusted nodes is used to detect and handle sybil nodes with the aid of source-destination pairs reporting on each other. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme detects sybil nodes in large sized networks with thousands of interactions.
