This paper is devoted to the choice and justification of a joint-level controller for a joint with intrinsic elasticity. Such joints show a number of advantages in terms of shock robustness, interaction safety, energy efficiency and so on. On the other hand, the addition of elastic element, i.e. a torsion spring, leads to oscillating behaviour. Thus, more elaborate controller structure is required. Active damping injection approach is chosen in this article to improve the joint performance and achieve smooth motion. A method to select controller gains is suggested as well which allows step-wise customization, by which either the settling time can be minimized or the motion can be made fully smooth. Finally, the controller performance is verified in simulation.

Gao, X., Fu, X..  2020.  Miniature Water Surface Garbage Cleaning Robot. 2020 International Conference on Computer Engineering and Application (ICCEA). :806—810.

In light of the problem for garbage cleaning in small water area, an intelligent miniature water surface garbage cleaning robot with unmanned driving and convenient operation is designed. Based on STC12C5A60S2 as the main controller in the design, power module, transmission module and cleaning module are controlled together to realize the function of cleaning and transporting garbage, intelligent remote control of miniature water surface garbage cleaning robot is realized by the WiFi module. Then the prototype is developed and tested, which will verify the rationality of the design. Compared with the traditional manual driving water surface cleaning devices, the designed robot realizes the intelligent control of unmanned driving, and achieves the purpose of saving human resources and reducing labor intensity, and the system operates security and stability, which has certain practical value.

In Robotics Operating System Process correspondence is the instrument given by the working framework that enables procedures to speak with one another Message passing model enables different procedures to peruse and compose information to the message line without being associated with one another, messages going between Robots. ROS is intended to be an inexactly coupled framework where a procedure is known as a hub and each hub ought to be answerable for one assignment. In the military application robots will go to go about as an officer and going ensure nation. In the referenced idea robot solider will give the message passing idea then the officers will go caution and start assaulting on the foes.

Lagraa, S., Cailac, M., Rivera, S., Beck, F., State, R..  2019.  Real-Time Attack Detection on Robot Cameras: A Self-Driving Car Application. 2019 Third IEEE International Conference on Robotic Computing (IRC). :102—109.

The Robot Operating System (ROS) are being deployed for multiple life critical activities such as self-driving cars, drones, and industries. However, the security has been persistently neglected, especially the image flows incoming from camera robots. In this paper, we perform a structured security assessment of robot cameras using ROS. We points out a relevant number of security flaws that can be used to take over the flows incoming from the robot cameras. Furthermore, we propose an intrusion detection system to detect abnormal flows. Our defense approach is based on images comparisons and unsupervised anomaly detection method. We experiment our approach on robot cameras embedded on a self-driving car.

Chai, Yadeng, Liu, Yong.  2019.  Natural Spoken Instructions Understanding for Robot with Dependency Parsing. 2019 IEEE 9th Annual International Conference on CYBER Technology in Automation, Control, and Intelligent Systems (CYBER). :866–871.
This paper presents a method based on syntactic information, which can be used for intent determination and slot filling tasks in a spoken language understanding system including the spoken instructions understanding module for robot. Some studies in recent years attempt to solve the problem of spoken language understanding via syntactic information. This research is a further extension of these approaches which is based on dependency parsing. In this model, the input for neural network are vectors generated by a dependency parsing tree, which we called window vector. This vector contains dependency features that improves performance of the syntactic-based model. The model has been evaluated on the benchmark ATIS task, and the results show that it outperforms many other syntactic-based approaches, especially in terms of slot filling, it has a performance level on par with some state of the art deep learning algorithms in recent years. Also, the model has been evaluated on FBM3, a dataset of the RoCKIn@Home competition. The overall rate of correctly understanding the instructions for robot is quite good but still not acceptable in practical use, which is caused by the small scale of FBM3.

Warabino, Takayuki, Suzuki, Yusuke, Miyazawa, Masanori.  2019.  ROS-based Robot Development Toward Fully Automated Network Management. 2019 20th Asia-Pacific Network Operations and Management Symposium (APNOMS). :1–4.

While the introduction of the softwarelization technologies such as SDN and NFV transfers main focus of network management from hardware to software, the network operators still have to care for a lot of network and computing equipment located in the network center. Toward fully automated network management, we believe that robotic approach will be significant, meaning that robot will care for the physical equipment on behalf of human. This paper explains our experience and insight gained throughout development of a network management robot. We utilize ROS(Robot Operating System) which is a powerful platform for robot development and secures the ease of development and expandability. Our roadmap of the network management robot is also shown as well as three use cases such as environmental monitoring, operator assistance and autonomous maintenance of the equipment. Finally, the paper briefly explains experimental results conducted in a commercial network center.

Giaretta, Alberto, De Donno, Michele, Dragoni, Nicola.  2018.  Adding Salt to Pepper: A Structured Security Assessment over a Humanoid Robot. Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security. :22:1–22:8.
The rise of connectivity, digitalization, robotics, and artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing our society and shaping its future development. During this technological and societal revolution, security has been persistently neglected, yet a hacked robot can act as an insider threat in organizations, industries, public spaces, and private homes. In this paper, we perform a structured security assessment of Pepper, a commercial humanoid robot. Our analysis, composed by an automated and a manual part, points out a relevant number of security flaws that can be used to take over and command the robot. Furthermore, we suggest how these issues could be fixed, thus, avoided in the future. The very final aim of this work is to push the rise of the security level of IoT products before they are sold on the public market.
