Abstract:
The goal of the proposed research is to advance the science of cyber-physical systems by more explicitly tying sensing, perception, and computing to the optimization and control of physical systems whose properties are variable and uncertain. The CPS platform to be studied is that of a bipedal robot locomoting over granular ground material with uncertain physical properties (sand, gravel, dirt, etc.).

Abstract:
At a high level, the goal of this project is to collect data on how drivers approach and drive through intersections. Research at the University of Michigan concerns the development of the driving simulator scenarios and testing human subjects. In addition, considerable related research is being conducted on research methods. At MIT, models based on the research at Michigan are being developed. This abstract concerns those part of the project conducted at the University of Michigan.

Abstract:
Growing demands on our civil infrastructure have heightened the need for smart structural components and systems whose behavior and performance can be controlled under a variety of loading scenarios such as high winds and earthquakes.

Abstract:
This project aims to enable cyber-physical systems that can be worn on the body in order to one day allow their users to touch, feel, and manipulate computationally simulated three-dimensional objects or digital data in physically realistic ways, using the whole hand. It will do this by precisely measuring touch and movement-induced displacements of the skin in the hand, and by reproducing these signals interactively, via new technologies to be developed in the project.
