Visible to the public  2014 Cool Careers in Cybersecurity for Girls Workshop

The Maryland Cybersecurity Center is excited to partner with the National CyberWatch Center K-12 Division to host the Annual Cool Careers in Cyber Security Workshop for Girls. Throughout the day, middle school girls will rotate through different hands-on activities, all relating to solving an identity theft case of cybercrime. At each station, the girls will learn from female Cybersecurity professionals and leaders, including representatives from prestigious government organizations, defense contractors, and private companies.

CyberSTEM camp is a one-week commuter summer program at the University of Maryland, College Park for middle school (incoming 7th and 8th grade) girls who are interested in the growing field of cybersecurity. This 5 day experience provides hands-on activities focused on STEM and cybersecurity topics. Attendees will learn and apply basic concepts of programming, forensics, cryptography, and program management from a series of gaming, modeling, and simulation activities, which explore the interconnections of science, math, technology, and computers.

The 19th European Symposium on Research in Computer Security will be held in Wroclaw, Poland, at the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science Wroclaw University of Technology, on September 7-11, 2014. ESORICS is the premier European research conference in computer security. ESORICS started in 1990 and has been held in several European countries, attracting an international audience from both the academic and industrial communities.
