"IOT 360" SUMMER SCHOOL ON THE INTERNET OF THINGS

Description

In the last decade the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm has slowly but steadily and increasingly permeated what researchers and engineers study and build. However, a 'Killer' IoT application is still missing so far. The 'IoT-360' Summer School will demonstrate what it takes to deliver an IoT-based product from scratch. To do so, the School will be divided into two strongly coupled parts.

This summer school will provide a rare opportunity for researchers in mathematics, computer science, engineering, and related sciences to learn about recent research directions and future challenges in this area. Funding is available to support graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in the early stages of their career, as well as more senior researchers interested in undertaking new research in this area. Encouraging the careers of women and minority mathematicians and scientists is an important component of IPAM's mission, and we welcome their applications.

Summer School on Cyber Physical Systems for Industrial Applications: Wireless self-powered vibration monitoring and control

Organized by the consortium of EU FP7 project WiBRATE, http://wibrate.alari.ch

This summer school explores new paradigms and techniques for Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) in an industrial setting. Cyber-Physical Systems have computations, reasoning, and communication highly embedded in and interacting with physical objects. Typical examples of CPS can be found in manufacturing, robotics, and transport.

CyberSTEM camp is a one-week commuter summer program at the University of Maryland, College Park for middle school (incoming 7th and 8th grade) girls who are interested in the growing field of cybersecurity. This 5 day experience provides hands-on activities focused on STEM and cybersecurity topics. Attendees will learn and apply basic concepts of programming, forensics, cryptography, and program management from a series of gaming, modeling, and simulation activities, which explore the interconnections of science, math, technology, and computers.
