Visible to the public A Cyber-Physical Framework for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Guided Magnetic NanoParticles

Abstract:

The goal of this project is to study the fundamental principles (dynamics and control) in using clinical magnetic techniques for accurately guiding agglomerations of magnetic nanoparticles in targeted drug delivery. The innovative technology component of this study is the dual use of the magnetic techniques as an imaging modality for both diagnostics and feedback control signal purposes and as a propulsion modality that generates the control forces to accurately guide agglomerations of magnetic nanoparticles.

Visible to the public Cybernetic Interfaces for the Restoration of Human Movement through Functional Electrical Stimulation

Abstract:

Functional electrical stimulation (FES) is a promising technology for activating muscles in spinal cord injured (SCI) patients. The objective of our project was to develop an intuitive user interface and control system that allows high-level tetraplegic patients to regain the use of their own arm.

Visible to the public CPS: Breakthrough: From Whole-Hand Tactile Imaging to Interactive Simulation

Abstract:

This project aims to enable cyber-physical systems that can be worn on the body in order to one day allow their users to touch, feel, and manipulate computationally simulated three-dimensional objects or digital data in physically realistic ways, using the whole hand. It will do this by precisely measuring touch and movement-induced displacements of the skin in the hand, and by reproducing these signals interactively, via new technologies to be developed in the project.

Visible to the public CPS: Breakthrough: Secure Telerobotics

Abstract:

Telerobotic systems are cyber-physical systems where human operators and robots exchange information using a combination of publicly available communication networks and temporary ad-hoc wireless and satellite networks.

Visible to the public A Novel Biomechatronic Interface Based on Wearable Dynamic Imaging Sensors

Abstract:

The problem of controlling biomechatronic systems, such as multiarticulating prosthetic hands, involves unique challenges in the science and engineering of Cyber Physical Systems (CPS), requiring integration between computational systems for recognizing human functional activity and intent and controlling prosthetic devices to interact with the physical world.
