Comparison of Different Machine Learning Algorithms Based on Intrusion Detection System. 2022 International Conference on Machine Learning, Big Data, Cloud and Parallel Computing (COM-IT-CON). 1:667—672.
.
2022. An IDS is a system that helps in detecting any kind of doubtful activity on a computer network. It is capable of identifying suspicious activities at both the levels i.e. locally at the system level and in transit at the network level. Since, the system does not have its own dataset as a result it is inefficient in identifying unknown attacks. In order to overcome this inefficiency, we make use of ML. ML assists in analysing and categorizing attacks on diverse datasets. In this study, the efficacy of eight machine learning algorithms based on KDD CUP99 is assessed. Based on our implementation and analysis, amongst the eight Algorithms considered here, Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest (RF) and Decision Tree (DT) have the highest testing accuracy of which got SVM does have the highest accuracy
Flubot Malware Hybrid Analysis on Android Operating System. 2022 International Conference on Informatics, Multimedia, Cyber and Information System (ICIMCIS). :202—206.
.
2022. The rising use of smartphones each year is matched by the development of the smartphone's operating system, Android. Due to the immense popularity of the Android operating system, many unauthorized users (in this case, the attackers) wish to exploit this vulnerability to get sensitive data from every Android user. The flubot malware assault, which happened in 2021 and targeted Android devices practically globally, is one of the attacks on Android smartphones. It was known at the time that the flubot virus stole information, particularly from banking applications installed on the victim's device. To prevent this from happening again, we research the signature and behavior of flubot malware. In this study, a hybrid analysis will be conducted on three samples of flubot malware that are available on the open-source Hatching Triage platform. Using the Android Virtual Device (AVD) as the primary environment for malware installation, the analysis was conducted with the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) and Burpsuite as supporting tools for dynamic analysis. During the static analysis, the Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) and the Bytecode Viewer were used to examine the source code of the three malware samples. Analysis of the flubot virus revealed that it extracts or drops dex files on the victim's device, where the file is the primary malware. The Flubot virus will clone the messaging application or Short Message Service (SMS) on the default device. Additionally, we discovered a form of flubot malware that operates as a Domain Generation Algorithm (DGA) and communicates with its Command and Control (C&C) server.
GNN-Based Malicious Network Entities Identification In Large-Scale Network Data. NOMS 2022-2022 IEEE/IFIP Network Operations and Management Symposium. :1—4.
.
2022. A reliable database of Indicators of Compromise (IoC’s) is a cornerstone of almost every malware detection system. Building the database and keeping it up-to-date is a lengthy and often manual process where each IoC should be manually reviewed and labeled by an analyst. In this paper, we focus on an automatic way of identifying IoC’s intended to save analysts’ time and scale to the volume of network data. We leverage relations of each IoC to other entities on the internet to build a heterogeneous graph. We formulate a classification task on this graph and apply graph neural networks (GNNs) in order to identify malicious domains. Our experiments show that the presented approach provides promising results on the task of identifying high-risk malware as well as legitimate domains classification.
PbV mSp: A priority-based VM selection policy for VM consolidation in green cloud computing. 2022 5th International Conference on Signal Processing and Information Security (ICSPIS). :32–37.
.
2022. Cloud computing forms the backbone of the era of automation and the Internet of Things (IoT). It offers computing and storage-based services on consumption-based pricing. Large-scale datacenters are used to provide these service and consumes enormous electricity. Datacenters contribute a large portion of the carbon footprint in the environment. Through virtual machine (VM) consolidation, datacenter energy consumption can be reduced via efficient resource management. VM selection policy is used to choose the VM that needs migration. In this research, we have proposed PbV mSp: A priority-based VM selection policy for VM consolidation. The PbV mSp is implemented in cloudsim and evaluated compared with well-known VM selection policies like gpa, gpammt, mimt, mums, and mxu. The results show that the proposed PbV mSp selection policy has outperformed the exisitng policies in terms of energy consumption and other metrics.

Power System Monitoring, Control and protection using IoT and cyber security. 2022 International Conference on Innovative Computing, Intelligent Communication and Smart Electrical Systems (ICSES). :1–5.
.
2022. The analysis shows how important Power Network Measuring and Characterization (PSMC) is to the plan. Networks planning and oversight for the transmission of electrical energy is becoming increasingly frequent. In reaction to the current contest of assimilating trying to cut charging in the crate, estimation, information sharing, but rather govern into PSMC reasonable quantities, Electrical Transmit Monitoring and Management provides a thorough outline of founding principles together with smart sensors for domestic spying, security precautions, and control of developed broadening power systems.Electricity supply control must depend increasingly heavily on telecommunications infrastructure to manage and run their processes because of the fluctuation in transmission and distribution of electricity. A wider attack surface will also be available to threat hackers as a result of the more communications. Large-scale blackout have occurred in the past as a consequence of cyberattacks on electrical networks. In order to pinpoint the key issues influencing power grid computer networks, we looked at the network infrastructure supporting electricity grids in this research.
Design of an Automated Blockchain-Enabled Vehicle Data Management System. 2022 5th International Conference on Signal Processing and Information Security (ICSPIS). :22–25.
.
2022. The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) has a tremendous prospect for numerous vehicular applications. IoV enables vehicles to transmit data to improve roadway safety and efficiency. Data security is essential for increasing the security and privacy of vehicle and roadway infrastructures in IoV systems. Several researchers proposed numerous solutions to address security and privacy issues in IoV systems. However, these issues are not proper solutions that lack data authentication and verification protocols. In this paper, a blockchain-enabled automated data management system for vehicles has been proposed and demonstrated. This work enables automated data verification and authentication using smart contracts. Certified organizations can only access vehicle data uploaded by the vehicle user to the Interplanetary File System (IPFS) server through that vehicle user’s consent. The proposed system increases the security of vehicles and data. Vehicle privacy is also maintained here by increasing data privacy.

Anonymous Identity Authentication scheme for Internet of Vehicles based on moving target Defense. 2021 International Conference on Advanced Computing and Endogenous Security. :1–4.
.
2022. As one of the effective methods to enhance traffic safety and improve traffic efficiency, the Internet of vehicles has attracted wide attention from all walks of life. V2X secure communication, as one of the research hotspots of the Internet of vehicles, also has many security and privacy problems. Attackers can use these vulnerabilities to obtain vehicle identity information and location information, and can also attack vehicles through camouflage. Therefore, the identity authentication process in vehicle network communication must be effectively protected. The anonymous identity authentication scheme based on moving target defense proposed in this paper not only ensures the authenticity and integrity of information sources, but also avoids the disclosure of vehicle identity information.
Existing Vulnerability Information in Security Requirements Elicitation. 2022 IEEE 30th International Requirements Engineering Conference Workshops (REW). :220—225.
.
2022. In software engineering, the aspect of addressing security requirements is considered to be of paramount importance. In most cases, however, security requirements for a system are considered as non-functional requirements (NFRs) and are addressed at the very end of the software development life cycle. The increasing number of security incidents in software systems around the world has made researchers and developers rethink and consider this issue at an earlier stage. An important and essential step towards this process is the elicitation of relevant security requirements. In a recent work, Imtiaz et al. proposed a framework for creating a mapping between existing requirements and the vulnerabilities associated with them. The idea is that, this mapping can be used by developers to predict potential vulnerabilities associated with new functional requirements and capture security requirements to avoid these vulnerabilities. However, to what extent, such existing vulnerability information can be useful in security requirements elicitation is still an open question. In this paper, we design a human subject study to answer this question. We also present the results of a pilot study and discuss their implications. Preliminary results show that existing vulnerability information can be a useful resource in eliciting security requirements and lays ground work for a full scale study.
A Coordination Artifact for Multi-disciplinary Reuse in Production Systems Engineering. 2022 IEEE 27th International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA). :1—8.
.
2022. In Production System Engineering (PSE), domain experts from different disciplines reuse assets such as products, production processes, and resources. Therefore, PSE organizations aim at establishing reuse across engineering disciplines. However, the coordination of multi-disciplinary reuse tasks, e.g., the re-validation of related assets after changes, is hampered by the coarse-grained representation of tasks and by scattered, heterogeneous domain knowledge. This paper introduces the Multi-disciplinary Reuse Coordination (MRC) artifact to improve task management for multi-disciplinary reuse. For assets and their properties, the MRC artifact describes sub-tasks with progress and result states to provide references for detailed reuse task management across engineering disciplines. In a feasibility study on a typical robot cell in automotive manufacturing, we investigate the effectiveness of task management with the MRC artifact compared to traditional approaches. Results indicate that the MRC artifact is feasible and provides effective capabilities for coordinating multi-disciplinary re-validation after changes.
Implementation of Physical Layer Security into 5G NR Systems and E2E Latency Assessment. GLOBECOM 2022 - 2022 IEEE Global Communications Conference. :4044—4050.
.
2022. This paper assesses the impact on the performance that information-theoretic physical layer security (IT-PLS) introduces when integrated into a 5G New Radio (NR) system. For this, we implement a wiretap code for IT-PLS based on a modular coding scheme that uses a universal-hash function in its security layer. The main advantage of this approach lies in its flexible integration into the lower layers of the 5G NR protocol stack without affecting the communication's reliability. Specifically, we use IT-PLS to secure the transmission of downlink control information by integrating an extra pre-coding security layer as part of the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) procedures, thus not requiring any change of the 3GPP 38 series standard. We conduct experiments using a real-time open-source 5G NR standalone implementation and use software-defined radios for over-the-air transmissions in a controlled laboratory environment. The overhead added by IT-PLS is determined in terms of the latency introduced into the system, which is measured at the physical layer for an end-to-end (E2E) connection between the gNB and the user equipment.
Employing Information Theoretic Metrics with Data-Driven Occupancy Detection Approaches: A Comparative Analysis. 2022 5th International Conference on Signal Processing and Information Security (ICSPIS). :50—54.
.
2022. Building occupancy data helps increase energy management systems’ performance, enabling lower energy use while preserving occupant comfort. The focus of this study is employing environmental data (e.g., including but not limited to temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide (CO2), etc.) to infer occupancy information. This will be achieved by exploring the application of information theory metrics with machine learning (ML) approaches to classify occupancy levels for a given dataset. Three datasets and six distinct ML algorithms were used in a comparative study to determine the best strategy for identifying occupancy patterns. It was determined that both k-nearest neighbors (kNN) and random forest (RF) identify occupancy labels with the highest overall level of accuracy, reaching 97.99% and 98.56%, respectively.
Blockchain-Based Decentralized Authentication for Information-Centric 5G Networks. 2022 IEEE 47th Conference on Local Computer Networks (LCN). :299–302.
.
2022. The 5G research community is increasingly leveraging the innovative features offered by Information Centric Networking (ICN). However, ICN’s fundamental features, such as in-network caching, make access control enforcement more challenging in an ICN-based 5G deployment. To address this shortcoming, we propose a Blockchain-based Decentralized Authentication Protocol (BDAP) which enables efficient and secure mobile user authentication in an ICN-based 5G network. We show that BDAP is robust against a variety of attacks to which mobile networks and blockchains are particularly vulnerable. Moreover, a preliminary performance analysis suggests that BDAP can reduce the authentication delay compared to the standard 5G authentication protocols.

A Secured Dialog Protocol Scheme Over Content Centric Networks. 2022 3rd International Conference on Intelligent Engineering and Management (ICIEM). :95–101.
.
2022. Internet architecture has transformed into a more complex form than it was about a decade back. Today the internet comprises multimedia information where services and web applications have started to shift their focus on content. In our perspective of communication systems, content-centric networking (CCN) proposes a new methodology. The use of cache memory at the network level is an important feature of this new architecture. This cache is intended to store transit details for a set period, and it is hoped that this capability will aid in network quality, especially in a rapidly increasing video streaming situation. Information-centric networking (ICN) is the one architecture that is seen as a possible alternative for shifting the Internet from a host-centric to a content-centric point-of-view. It focuses on data rather than content. CCN is more reliable when it comes to data delivery as it does not need to depend on location for data. CCN architecture is scalable, secure and provides mobility support. In this paper, we implement a ccnchat, a chat testing application, which is created with the help of libraries provided by Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) on local area network (LAN) between two users and demonstrate the working of this local chat application over CCN network that works alongside existing IP infrastructure.

Automating Safety and Security Risk Assessment in Industrial Control Systems: Challenges and Constraints. 2022 IEEE 27th International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA). :1–4.
.
2022. Currently, risk assessment of industrial control systems is static and performed manually. With the increased convergence of operational technology and information technology, risk assessment has to incorporate a combined safety and security analysis along with their interdependency. This paper investigates the data inputs required for safety and security assessments, also if the collection and utilisation of such data can be automated. A particular focus is put on integrated assessment methods which have the potential for automation. In case the overall process to identify potential hazards and threats and analyze what could happen if they occur can be automated, manual efforts and cost of operation can be reduced, thus also increasing the overall performance of risk assessment.
Application of Biometric System to Enhance the Security in Virtual World. 2022 2nd International Conference on Advance Computing and Innovative Technologies in Engineering (ICACITE). :719–723.
.
2022. Virtual worlds was becoming increasingly popular in a variety of fields, including education, business, space exploration, and video games. Establishing the security of virtual worlds was becoming more critical as they become more widely used. Virtual users were identified using a behavioral biometric system. Improve the system's ability to identify objects by fusing scores from multiple sources. Identification was based on a review of user interactions in virtual environments and a comparison with previous recordings in the database. For behavioral biometric systems like the one described, it appears that score-level biometric fusion was a promising tool for improving system performance. As virtual worlds become more immersive, more people will want to participate in them, and more people will want to be able to interact with each other. Each region of the Meta-verse was given a glimpse of the current state of affairs and the trends to come. As hardware performance and institutional and public interest continue to improve, the Meta-verse's development is hampered by limitations like computational method limits and a lack of realized collaboration between virtual world stakeholders and developers alike. A major goal of the proposed research was to verify the accuracy of the biometric system to enhance the security in virtual world. In this study, the precision of the proposed work was compared to that of previous work.
Multiuser, multimodal sensemaking cognitive immersive environment with a task-oriented dialog system. 2022 IEEE International Symposium on Technologies for Homeland Security (HST). :1–3.
.
2022. This paper is a conceptual paper that explores how the sensemaking process by intelligence analysts completed within a cognitive immersive environment might be impacted by the inclusion of a progressive dialog system. The tools enabled in the sensemaking room (a specific instance within the cognitive immersive environment) were informed by tools from the intelligence analysis domain. We explore how a progressive dialog system would impact the use of tools such as the collaborative brainstorming exercise [1]. These structured analytic techniques are well established in intelligence analysis training literature, and act as ways to access the intended users' cognitive schema as they use the cognitive immersive room and move through the sensemaking process. A prior user study determined that the sensemaking room encouraged users to be more concise and representative with information while using the digital brainstorming tool. We anticipate that addition of the progressive dialog function will enable a more cohesive link between information foraging and sensemaking behaviors for analysts.
Model-free Adaptive Sliding Mode Control for Interconnected Power Systems under DoS Attacks. 2022 IEEE 11th Data Driven Control and Learning Systems Conference (DDCLS). :487—492.
.
2022. In this paper, a new model-free adaptive sliding mode load frequency control (LFC) scheme is designed for inter-connected power systems, where modeling is difficult and suffers from load change disturbances and denial of service (DoS) attacks. The proposed algorithm only uses real-time I/O data of the power system to achieve a high control performance. Firstly, the dynamic linearization strategy is used to build a data-based model of the power system, and intermittent DoS attacks are modeled by limiting their duration and frequency. Secondly, the model-free adaptive sliding mode control (MFASMC) scheme is designed based on optimization theory and sliding mode reaching law, and its stability is analyzed. Finally, the three-area interconnected power system was selected to test the presented MFASMC scheme. Simulation data shows the effectiveness of the LFC algorithm in this paper.
Method for Determining the Optimal Number of Clusters for ICS Information Processes Analysis During Cyberattacks Based on Hierarchical Clustering. 2022 Ural-Siberian Conference on Biomedical Engineering, Radioelectronics and Information Technology (USBEREIT). :309—312.
.
2022. The development of industrial automation tools and the integration of industrial and corporate networks in order to improve the quality of production management have led to an increase in the risks of successful cyberattacks and, as a result, to the necessity to solve the problems of practical information security of industrial control systems (ICS). Detection of cyberattacks of both known and unknown types is could be implemented as anomaly detection in dynamic information processes recorded during the operation of ICS. Anomaly detection methods do not require preliminary analysis and labeling of the training sample. In the context of detecting attacks on ICS, cluster analysis is used as one of the methods that implement anomaly detection. The application of hierarchical cluster analysis for clustering data of ICS information processes exposed to various cyberattacks is studied, the problem of choosing the level of the cluster hierarchy corresponding to the minimum set of clusters aggregating separately normal and abnormal data is solved. It is shown that the Ward method of hierarchical cluster division produces the best division into clusters. The next stage of the study involves solving the problem of classifying the formed minimum set of clusters, that is, determining which cluster is normal and which cluster is abnormal.
Usage of Classifier Ensemble for Security Enrichment in IDS. 2022 International Conference on Automation, Computing and Renewable Systems (ICACRS). :420—425.
.
2022. The success of the web and the consequent rise in data sharing have made network security a challenge. Attackers from all around the world target PC installations. When an attack is successful, an electronic device's security is jeopardised. The intrusion implicitly includes any sort of behaviours that purport to think twice about the respectability, secrecy, or accessibility of an asset. Information is shielded from unauthorised clients' scrutiny by the integrity of a certain foundation. Accessibility refers to the framework that gives users of the framework true access to information. The word "classification" implies that data within a given frame is shielded from unauthorised access and public display. Consequently, a PC network is considered to be fully completed if the primary objectives of these three standards have been satisfactorily met. To assist in achieving these objectives, Intrusion Detection Systems have been developed with the fundamental purpose of scanning incoming traffic on computer networks for malicious intrusions.
Enhancing the Performance of Hash Function Using Autonomous Initial Value Proposed Secure Hash Algorithm 256. 2022 IEEE 11th International Conference on Communication Systems and Network Technologies (CSNT). :560—565.
.
2022. To verify the integrity and confidentiality of data communicated through the web is a very big issue worldwide because every person wants very fast computing and secure electronic data communication via the web. The authentication of electronic data is done by hashing algorithms. Presently researchers are using one-time padding to convert variable-length input messages into a block of fixed length and also using constant initial values that are constant for any input message. So this reason we are proposing the autonomous initial value proposed secure hash algorithm-256 (AIVPSHA256) and we are enhancing the performance of the hash function by designing and compuiting its experimental results in python 3.9.5 programming language.
Fully Homomorphic Encryption for Data Security Over Cloud. 2022 6th International Conference on Electronics, Communication and Aerospace Technology. :782—787.
.
2022. From the past few years cloud services are so popular and are being used by many people from various domains for various purposes such as data storage, e-mails, backing up data and much more. While there were many options to perform such things why did people choose cloud? The answer is clouds are more flexible, convenient, reliable and efficient. Coming to security of data over cloud, it is secure to store data over cloud rather than storing data locally as there is chance of some computer breakdown or any natural disaster may also occur. There are also many threats for data security over cloud namely data breaching, lack of access-key management and much more. As the data has been processed and being stored online for various purposes, there is a clear requirement for data security. Many organizations face various challenges while storing their data over cloud such as data leakages, account hijacking, insufficient credentials and so on. So to overcome these challenges and safeguard the data, various encryption techniques were implemented. However, even though encryption is used, the data still needs to be decrypted in order to do any type of operation. As a result, we must choose a manner in which the data can be analyzed, searched for, or used in any other way without needing to be decoded. So, the objective is to introduce a technique that goes right for the above conditions mentioned and for data security over cloud.
Implementation of Cyber Security for Enabling Data Protection Analysis and Data Protection using Robot Key Homomorphic Encryption. 2022 Sixth International Conference on I-SMAC (IoT in Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud) (I-SMAC). :170—174.
.
2022. Cloud computing plays major role in the development of accessing clouduser’s document and sensitive information stored. It has variety of content and representation. Cyber security and attacks in the cloud is a challenging aspect. Information security attains a vital part in Cyber Security management. It involves actions intended to reduce the adverse impacts of such incidents. To access the documents stored in cloud safely and securely, access control will be introduced based on cloud users to access the user’s document in the cloud. To achieve this, it is highly required to combine security components (e.g., Access Control, Usage Control) in the security document to get automatic information. This research work has proposed a Role Key Homomorphic Encryption Algorithm (RKHEA) to monitor the cloud users, who access the services continuously. This method provides access creation of session-based key to store the singularized encryption to reduce the key size from random methods to occupy memory space. It has some terms and conditions to be followed by the cloud users and also has encryption method to secure the document content. Hence the documents are encrypted with the RKHEA algorithm based on Service Key Access (SKA). Then, the encrypted key will be created based on access control conditions. The proposed analytics result shows an enhanced control over the documents in cloud and improved security performance.
Library of Fully Homomorphic Encryption on a Microcontroller. 2022 International Conference on Smart Information Systems and Technologies (SIST). :1—5.
.
2022. Fully homomorphic encryption technologies allow you to operate on encrypted data without disclosing it, therefore they have a lot of potential for solving personal data storage and processing issues. Because of the increased interest in these technologies, various software tools and libraries that allow completely homomorphic encryption have emerged. However, because this subject of cryptography is still in its early stages, standards and recommendations for the usage of completely homomorphic encryption algorithms are still being developed. The paper presents the main areas of application of homomorphic encryption. The analysis of existing developments in the field of homomorphic encryption is carried out. The analysis showed that existing library implementations do not support the division and subtraction operation. The analysis revealed the need to develop a library of fully homomorphic encryption, which allows performing all mathematical operations on them (addition, difference, multiplication and division), as well as the relevance of developing its own implementation of a library of homomorphic encryption on integers. Then, implement the development of a fully homomorphic encryption library in C++ and on an ESP 32 microcontroller. The ability to perform four operations (addition, difference, multiplication and division) on encrypted data will expand the scope of application of homomorphic encryption. A method of homomorphic division and subtraction is proposed that allows performing the division and subtraction operation on homomorphically encrypted data. The level of security, the types of operations executed, the maximum length of operands, and the algorithm's running time are all described as a consequence of numerical experimentation with parameters.
Cost-Efficient Network Protection Games Against Uncertain Types of Cyber-Attackers. 2022 IEEE International Symposium on Technologies for Homeland Security (HST). :1–7.
.
2022. This paper considers network protection games for a heterogeneous network system with N nodes against cyber-attackers of two different types of intentions. The first type tries to maximize damage based on the value of each net-worked node, while the second type only aims at successful infiltration. A defender, by applying defensive resources to networked nodes, can decrease those nodes' vulnerabilities. Meanwhile, the defender needs to balance the cost of using defensive resources and potential security benefits. Existing literature shows that, in a Nash equilibrium, the defender should adopt different resource allocation strategies against different types of attackers. However, it could be difficult for the defender to know the type of incoming cyber-attackers. A Bayesian game is investigated considering the case that the defender is uncertain about the attacker's type. We demonstrate that the Bayesian equilibrium defensive resource allocation strategy is a mixture of the Nash equilibrium strategies from the games against the two types of attackers separately.
