The Digital Identity Management System Model Based on Blockchain. 2022 International Conference on Blockchain Technology and Information Security (ICBCTIS). :131—137.
.
2022. Digital identity management system is the securi-ty infrastructure of computer and internet applications. However, currently, most of the digital identity management systems are faced with problems such as the difficulty of cross-domain authentication and interoperation, the lack of credibility of identity authentication, the weakness of the security of identity data. Although the advantages of block-chain technology have attached the attentions of experts and scholars in the field of digital identity management and many digital identity management systems based on block-chain have been built, the systems still can't completely solve the problems mentioned above. Therefore, in this pa-per, an effective digital identity management system model is proposed which combines technologies of self-sovereign identity and oracle with blockchain so as to pave a way in solving the problems mentioned above and constructing a secure and reliable digital identity management system.
Identity of Things (IDoT): A Preliminary Report on Identity Management Solutions for IoT Devices. 2022 IEEE International Conference on Public Key Infrastructure and its Applications (PKIA). :1—9.
.
2022. The Internet of Things poses some of the biggest security challenges in the present day. Companies, users and infrastructures are constantly under attack by malicious actors. Increasingly, attacks are being launched by hacking into one vulnerable device and hence disabling entire networks resulting in great loss. A strong identity management framework can help better protect these devices by issuing a unique identity and managing the same through its lifecycle. Identity of Things (IDoT) is a term that has been used to describe the importance of device identities in IoT networks. Since the traditional identity and access management (IAM) solutions are inadequate in managing identities for IoT, the Identity of Things (IDoT) is emerging as the solution for issuance of Identities to every type of device within the IoT IAM infrastructure. This paper presents the survey of recent research works proposed in the area of device identities and various commercial solutions offered by organizations specializing in IoT device security.
The Use of Blockchain for Digital Identity Management in Healthcare. 2022 10th International Conference on Cyber and IT Service Management (CITSM). :1—6.
.
2022. Digitalization has occurred in almost all industries, one of them is health industry. Patients” medical records are now easier to be accessed and managed as all related data are stored in data storages or repositories. However, this system is still under development as number of patients still increasing. Lack of standardization might lead to patients losing their right to control their own data. Therefore, implementing private blockchain system with Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) concept for identity management in health industry is a viable notion. With SSI, the patients will be benefited from having control over their own medical records and stored with higher security protocol. While healthcare providers will benefit in Know You Customer (KYC) process, if they handle new patients, who move from other healthcare providers. It will eliminate and shorten the process of updating patients' medical records from previous healthcare providers. Therefore, we suggest several flows in implementing blockchain for digital identity in healthcare industry to help overcome lack of patient's data control and KYC in current system. Nevertheless, implementing blockchain on health industry requires full attention from surrounding system and stakeholders to be realized.
Identity Management with Blockchain : Indian Migrant Workers Prospective. 2022 IEEE Conference on Interdisciplinary Approaches in Technology and Management for Social Innovation (IATMSI). :1—6.
.
2022. The agricultural sector and other Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in India operate with more than 90% migrant workers searching for better employment opportunities far away from their native places. However, inherent challenges are far more for the migrant workers, most prominently their Identity. To the best of our knowledge, available literature lacks a comprehensive study on identity management components for user privacy and data protection mechanisms in identity management architecture. Self-Sovereign Identity is regarded as a new evolution in digital identity management systems. Blockchain technology and distributed ledgers bring us closer to realizing an ideal Self-Sovereign Identity system. This paper proposes a novel solution to address identity issues being faced by migrant workers. It also gives a holistic, coherent, and mutually beneficial Identity Management Solution for the migrant workforce in the Indian perspective towards e-Governance and Digital India.
Blockchain-based identity dicovery between heterogenous identity management systems. 2022 6th International Conference on Cryptography, Security and Privacy (CSP). :131—137.
.
2022. Identity Management Systems (IdMS) have seemingly evolved in recent years, both in terms of modelling approach and in terms of used technology. The early centralized, later federated and user-centric Identity Management (IdM) was finally replaced by Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI). Solutions based on Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) appeared, with prominent examples of uPort, Sovrin or ShoCard. In effect, users got more freedom in creation and management of their identities. IdM systems became more distributed, too. However, in the area of interoperability, dynamic and ad-hoc identity management there has been almost no significant progress. Quest for the best IdM system which will be used by all entities and organizations is deemed to fail. The environment of IdM systems is, and in the near future will still be, heterogenous. Therefore a person will have to manage her or his identities in multiple IdM systems. In this article authors argument that future-proof IdM systems should be able to interoperate with each other dynamically, i.e. be able to discover existence of different identities of a person across multiple IdM systems, dynamically build trust relations and be able to translate identity assertions and claims across various IdM domains. Finally, authors introduce identity relationship model and corresponding identity discovery algorithm, propose IdMS-agnostic identity discovery service design and its implementation with use of Ethereum and Smart Contracts.
SECOM: Towards a convention for security commit messages. 2022 IEEE/ACM 19th International Conference on Mining Software Repositories (MSR). :764—765.
.
2022. One way to detect and assess software vulnerabilities is by extracting security-related information from commit messages. Automating the detection and assessment of vulnerabilities upon security commit messages is still challenging due to the lack of structured and clear messages. We created a convention, called SECOM, for security commit messages that structure and include bits of security-related information that are essential for detecting and assessing vulnerabilities for both humans and tools. The full convention and details are available here: https://tqrg.github.io/secom/.
How to Exploit Biham-Keller ID Characteristic to Minimize Data. 2022 15th International Conference on Information Security and Cryptography (ISCTURKEY). :44—48.
.
2022. In this work, we examine the following question: How can we improve the best data complexity among the impossible differential (ID) attacks on AES? One of the most efficient attacks on AES are ID attacks. We have seen that the Biham-Keller ID characteristics are frequently used in these ID attacks. We observe the following fact: The probability that a given pair with a wrong key produce an ID characteristic is closely correlated to the data usage negatively. So, we maximize this probability by exploiting a Biham-Keller ID characteristic in a different manner than the other attacks. As a result, we mount an ID attack on 7-round AES-192 and obtain the best data requirement among all the ID attacks on 7-round AES. We make use of only 2$^\textrm58$ chosen plaintexts.
Error Prevalence in NIDS datasets: A Case Study on CIC-IDS-2017 and CSE-CIC-IDS-2018. 2022 IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (CNS). :254—262.
.
2022. Benchmark datasets are heavily depended upon by the research community to validate theoretical findings and track progression in the state-of-the-art. NIDS dataset creation presents numerous challenges on account of the volume, heterogeneity, and complexity of network traffic, making the process labor intensive, and thus, prone to error. This paper provides a critical review of CIC-IDS-2017 and CIC-CSE-IDS-2018, datasets which have seen extensive usage in the NIDS literature, and are currently considered primary benchmarking datasets for NIDS. We report a large number of previously undocumented errors throughout the dataset creation lifecycle, including in attack orchestration, feature generation, documentation, and labeling. The errors destabilize the results and challenge the findings of numerous publications that have relied on it as a benchmark. We demonstrate the implications of these errors through several experiments. We provide comprehensive documentation to summarize the discovery of these issues, as well as a fully-recreated dataset, with labeling logic that has been reverse-engineered, corrected, and made publicly available for the first time. We demonstrate the implications of dataset errors through a series of experiments. The findings serve to remind the research community of common pitfalls with dataset creation processes, and of the need to be vigilant when adopting new datasets. Lastly, we strongly recommend the release of labeling logic for any dataset released, to ensure full transparency.
Usage of Classifier Ensemble for Security Enrichment in IDS. 2022 International Conference on Automation, Computing and Renewable Systems (ICACRS). :420—425.
.
2022. The success of the web and the consequent rise in data sharing have made network security a challenge. Attackers from all around the world target PC installations. When an attack is successful, an electronic device's security is jeopardised. The intrusion implicitly includes any sort of behaviours that purport to think twice about the respectability, secrecy, or accessibility of an asset. Information is shielded from unauthorised clients' scrutiny by the integrity of a certain foundation. Accessibility refers to the framework that gives users of the framework true access to information. The word "classification" implies that data within a given frame is shielded from unauthorised access and public display. Consequently, a PC network is considered to be fully completed if the primary objectives of these three standards have been satisfactorily met. To assist in achieving these objectives, Intrusion Detection Systems have been developed with the fundamental purpose of scanning incoming traffic on computer networks for malicious intrusions.

Here, we compare seven popular categorization techniques on three data sets. The decision tree algorithm shows the best intrusion detection results.
Sequential event-based detection of network attacks on CSE CIC IDS 2018 data set – Application of GSP and IPAM Algorithm. 2022 International Conference on Computing, Communication, Security and Intelligent Systems (IC3SIS). :1—7.
.
2022. Network attacks are always a nightmare for the network administrators as it eats away a huge wavelength and disturbs the normal working of many critical services in the network. Network behavior based profiling and detection is considered to be an accepted method; but the modeling data and method is always a big concern. The network event-based profiling is getting acceptance as they are sequential in nature and the sequence depicts the behavior of the system. This sequential network events can be analyzed using different techniques to create a profile for anomaly detection. In this paper we examine the possibility of two techniques for sequential event analysis using Modified GSP and IPAM algorithm. We evaluate the performance of these algorithms on the CSE-CIC-IDS 2018 data set to benchmark the performance. This experiment is different from other anomaly-based detection which evaluates the features of the dataset to detect the abnormalities. The performance of the algorithms on the dataset is then confirmed by the pattern evolving from the analysis and the indications it provides for early detection of network attacks.
Digital Forensic Analysis on Caller ID Spoofing Attack. 2022 7th International Workshop on Big Data and Information Security (IWBIS). :95—100.
.
2022. Misuse of caller ID spoofing combined with social engineering has the potential as a means to commit other crimes, such as fraud, theft, leaking sensitive information, spreading hoaxes, etc. The appropriate forensic technique must be carried out to support the verification and collection of evidence related to these crimes. In this research, a digital forensic analysis was carried out on the BlueStacks emulator, Redmi 5A smartphone, and SIM card which is a device belonging to the victim and attacker to carry out caller ID spoofing attacks. The forensic analysis uses the NIST SP 800-101 R1 guide and forensic tools FTK imager, Oxygen Forensic Detective, and Paraben’s E3. This research aims to determine the artifacts resulting from caller ID spoofing attacks to assist in mapping and finding digital evidence. The result of this research is a list of digital evidence findings in the form of a history of outgoing calls, incoming calls, caller ID from the source of the call, caller ID from the destination of the call, the time the call started, the time the call ended, the duration of the call, IMSI, ICCID, ADN, and TMSI.
New Image Encryption Algorithm based on Pixel Confusion-Diffusion using Hash Functions and Chaotic Map. 2022 7th International Conference on Communication and Electronics Systems (ICCES). :862—867.
.
2022. Information privacy and security has become a necessity in the rapid growth of computer technology. A new algorithm for image encryption is proposed in this paper; using hash functions, chaotic map and two levels of diffusion process. The initialization key for chaos map is generated with the help of two hash functions. The initial seed for these hash functions is the sum of rows, columns and pixels across the diagonal of the plain image. Firstly, the image is scrambled using quantization unit. In the first level of diffusion process, the pixel values of the scrambled image are XOR with the normalized chaotic map. Odd pixel value is XOR with an even bit of chaotic map and even pixel is XOR with an odd bit of chaotic map. To achieve strong encryption, the image undergoes a second level of diffusion process where it is XOR with the map a finite number of times. After every round, the pixel array is circular shifted three times to achieve a strong encrypted image. The experimental and comparative analysis done with state of the art techniques on the proposed image encryption algorithm shows that it is strong enough to resist statistical and differential attacks present in the communication channel.
OSHA: A General-purpose and Next Generation One-way Secure Hash Algorithm. 2022 IEEE/ACIS 22nd International Conference on Computer and Information Science (ICIS). :25—33.
.
2022. Secure hash functions are widely used in cryptographic algorithms to secure against diverse attacks. A one-way secure hash function is used in the various research fields to secure, for instance, blockchain. Notably, most of the hash functions provide security based on static parameters and publicly known operations. Consequently, it becomes easier to attack by the attackers because all parameters and operations are predefined. The publicly known parameters and predefined operations make the oracle regenerate the key even though it is a one-way secure hash function. Moreover, the sensitive data is mixed with the predefined constant where an oracle may find a way to discover the key. To address the above issues, we propose a novel one-way secure hash algorithm, OSHA for short, to protect sensitive data against attackers. OSHA depends on a pseudo-random number generator to generate a hash value. Particularly, OSHA mixes multiple pseudo-random numbers to produce a secure hash value. Furthermore, OSHA uses dynamic parameters, which is difficult for adversaries to guess. Unlike conventional secure hash algorithms, OSHA does not depend on fixed constants. It replaces the fixed constant with the pseudo-random numbers. Also, the input message is not mixed with the pseudo-random numbers; hence, there is no way to recover and reverse the process for the adversaries.
Secure Hashing using BCrypt for Cryptographic Applications. 2022 IEEE North Karnataka Subsection Flagship International Conference (NKCon). :1—5.
.
2022. Impactful data breaches that exposed the online accounts and financial information of billions of individuals have increased recently because of the digitization of numerous industries. As a result, the need for comprehensive cybersecurity measures has risen, particularly with regard to the safekeeping of user passwords. Strong password storage security ensures that even if an attacker has access to compromised data, they are unable to utilize the passwords in attack vectors like credential-stuffing assaults. Additionally, it will reduce the risk of threats like fraudulent account charges or account takeovers for users. This study compares the performance of several hashing algorithms, including Bcrypt, SHA-256 and MD5 and how bcrypt algorithm outperforms the other algorithms. Reversal of each of the results will be attempted using Rainbow Tables for better understanding of hash reversals and the comparisons are tabulated. The paper provides a detail implementation of bcrypt algorithm and sheds light on the methodology of BCRYPT hashing algorithm results in robust password security. While SHA-256 hashing algorithms are, easily susceptible to simple attacks such as brute force as it a fast algorithm and making bcrypt more favorable.

Implementation of Rail Fence Cipher and Myszkowski Algorithms and Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA-256) for Security and Detecting Digital Image Originality. 2022 International Conference on Informatics, Multimedia, Cyber and Information System (ICIMCIS). :207—212.
.
2022. The use of digital images is increasingly widespread currently. There is a need for security in digital photos. Cryptography is a technique that can be applied to secure data. In addition to safety, data integrity also needs to be considered to anticipate the image being manipulated. The hash function is a technique that can be used to determine data authentication. In this study, the Rail Fence Cipher and Myszkowski algorithms were used for the encryption and decryption of digital images, as the Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA-256) algorithm. Rail Fence Cipher Algorithm is a transposition algorithm that is quite simple but still vulnerable. It is combined with the Myszkowski Algorithm, which has a high level of complexity with a simple key. Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA-256) is a hash function that accepts an input limit of fewer than 2∧64 bits and produces a fixed hash value of 256 bits. The tested images vary based on image resolution and can be encrypted and decrypted well, with an average MSE value of 4171.16 and an average PSNR value of 11.96 dB. The hash value created is also unique. Keywords—Cryptography, Hash Function, Rail Fence Cipher, Myszkowski, SHA-256, Digital image.
Odd-Even Hash Algorithm: A Improvement of Cuckoo Hash Algorithm. 2021 Ninth International Conference on Advanced Cloud and Big Data (CBD). :1—6.
.
2022. Hash-based data structures and algorithms are currently flourishing on the Internet. It is an effective way to store large amounts of information, especially for applications related to measurement, monitoring and security. At present, there are many hash table algorithms such as: Cuckoo Hash, Peacock Hash, Double Hash, Link Hash and D-left Hash algorithm. However, there are still some problems in these hash table algorithms, such as excessive memory space, long insertion and query operations, and insertion failures caused by infinite loops that require rehashing. This paper improves the kick-out mechanism of the Cuckoo Hash algorithm, and proposes a new hash table structure- Odd-Even Hash (OE Hash) algorithm. The experimental results show that OE Hash algorithm is more efficient than the existing Link Hash algorithm, Linear Hash algorithm, Cuckoo Hash algorithm, etc. OE Hash algorithm takes into account the performance of both query time and insertion time while occupying the least space, and there is no insertion failure that leads to rehashing, which is suitable for massive data storage.
Ibn Omar Hash Algorithm. 2022 14th International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Communication Networks (CICN). :753—756.
.
2022. A hash is a fixed-length output of some data that has been through a one-way function that cannot be reversed, called the hashing algorithm. Hashing algorithms are used to store secure information, such as passwords. They are stored as hashes after they have been through a hashing algorithm. Also, hashing algorithms are used to insure the checksum of certain data over the internet. This paper discusses how Ibn Omar's hashing algorithm will provide higher security for data than other hash functions used nowadays. Ibn Omar's hashing algorithm in produces an output of 1024 bits, four times as SHA256 and twice as SHA512. Ibn Omar's hashing algorithm reduces the vulnerability of a hash collision due to its size. Also, it would require enormous computational power to find a collision. There are eight salts per input. This hashing algorithm aims to provide high privacy and security for users.
A Lightweight Hash-Chain-Based Multi-Node Mutual Authentication Algorithm for IoT Networks. 2022 IEEE Future Networks World Forum (FNWF). :72—74.
.
2022. As an emerging technology, IoT is rapidly revolutionizing the global communication network with billions of new devices deployed and connected with each other. Many of these devices collect and transfer a large amount of sensitive or mission critical data, making security a top priority. Compared to traditional Internet, IoT networks often operate in open and harsh environment, and may experience frequent delays, traffic loss and attacks; Meanwhile, IoT devices are often severally constrained in computational power, storage space, network bandwidth, and power supply, which prevent them from deploying traditional security schemes. Authentication is an important security mechanism that can be used to identify devices or users. Due to resource constrains of IoT networks, it is highly desirable for the authentication scheme to be lightweight while also being highly effective. In this paper, we developed and evaluated a hash-chain-based multi-node mutual authentication algorithm. Nodes on a network all share a common secret key and broadcast to other nodes in range. Each node may also add to the hash chain and rebroadcast, which will be used to authenticate all nodes in the network. This algorithm has a linear running time and complexity of O(n), a significant improvement from the O(nˆ2) running time and complexity of the traditional pairwise multi-node mutual authentication.
Enhancing the Performance of Hash Function Using Autonomous Initial Value Proposed Secure Hash Algorithm 256. 2022 IEEE 11th International Conference on Communication Systems and Network Technologies (CSNT). :560—565.
.
2022. To verify the integrity and confidentiality of data communicated through the web is a very big issue worldwide because every person wants very fast computing and secure electronic data communication via the web. The authentication of electronic data is done by hashing algorithms. Presently researchers are using one-time padding to convert variable-length input messages into a block of fixed length and also using constant initial values that are constant for any input message. So this reason we are proposing the autonomous initial value proposed secure hash algorithm-256 (AIVPSHA256) and we are enhancing the performance of the hash function by designing and compuiting its experimental results in python 3.9.5 programming language.
Comparative Analysis of Password Storage Security using Double Secure Hash Algorithm. 2022 IEEE North Karnataka Subsection Flagship International Conference (NKCon). :1—5.
.
2022. Passwords are generally used to keep unauthorized users out of the system. Password hacking has become more common as the number of internet users has extended, causing a slew of issues. These problems include stealing the confidential information of a company or a country by adversaries which harm the economy or the security of the organization. Hackers often use password hacking for criminal activities. It is indispensable to protect passwords from hackers. There are many hacking methods such as credential stuffing, social engineering, traffic interception, and password spraying for hacking the passwords. So, in order to control hacking, there are hashing algorithms that are mostly used to hash passwords making password cracking more difficult. In this proposed work, different hashing algorithms such as SHA-1, MD-5, Salted MD-5, SHA-256, and SHA-512 have been used. And the MySQL database is used to store the hash values of passwords that are generated using various hash functions. It is proven that SHA is better than MD-5 and Salted MD-5. Whereas in the SHA family, SHA-512 and SHA-256 have their own benefits. Four new hashing functions have been proposed using the combination of existing algorithms like SHA-256, and SHA-512 namely SHA-256\_with\_SHA-256, SHA-256\_ With\_SHA-512,SHA-512\_With\_SHA-512,and SHA-512\_ With\_SHA-256. They provide strong hash value for passwords by which the security of passwords increases, and hacking can be controlled to an extent.
Fully Homomorphic Encryption for Data Security Over Cloud. 2022 6th International Conference on Electronics, Communication and Aerospace Technology. :782—787.
.
2022. From the past few years cloud services are so popular and are being used by many people from various domains for various purposes such as data storage, e-mails, backing up data and much more. While there were many options to perform such things why did people choose cloud? The answer is clouds are more flexible, convenient, reliable and efficient. Coming to security of data over cloud, it is secure to store data over cloud rather than storing data locally as there is chance of some computer breakdown or any natural disaster may also occur. There are also many threats for data security over cloud namely data breaching, lack of access-key management and much more. As the data has been processed and being stored online for various purposes, there is a clear requirement for data security. Many organizations face various challenges while storing their data over cloud such as data leakages, account hijacking, insufficient credentials and so on. So to overcome these challenges and safeguard the data, various encryption techniques were implemented. However, even though encryption is used, the data still needs to be decrypted in order to do any type of operation. As a result, we must choose a manner in which the data can be analyzed, searched for, or used in any other way without needing to be decoded. So, the objective is to introduce a technique that goes right for the above conditions mentioned and for data security over cloud.
A Safe Approach to Sensitive Dropout Data Collection Systems by Utilizing Homomorphic Encryption. 2022 International Symposium on Information Technology and Digital Innovation (ISITDI). :168—171.
.
2022. The student's fault is not the only cause of dropping out of school. Often, cases of dropping out of school are only associated with too general problems. However, sensitive issues that can be detrimental to certain parties in this regard, such as the institution's reputation, are usually not made public. To overcome this, an in-depth analysis of these cases is needed for proper handling. Many risks are associated with creating a single repository for this sensitive information. Therefore, some encryption is required to ensure data is not leaked. However, encryption at rest and in transit is insufficient as data leakage is a considerable risk during processing. In addition, there is also a risk of abuse of authority by insiders so that no single entity is allowed to have access to all data. Homomorphic encryption presents a viable solution to this challenge. Data may be aggregated under the security provided by Homomorphic Encryption. This method makes the data available for computation without being decrypted first and without paying the risk of having a single repository.
Known Plaintext Attacks on the Omar and abed Homomorphic Encryption Scheme. 2022 13th International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Convergence (ICTC). :1154—1157.
.
2022. In 2020, Omar and abed proposed a new noise-free fully homomorphic encryption scheme that allows arbitrary computations on encrypted data without decryption. However, they did not provide a sufficient security analysis of the proposed scheme and just stated that it is secure under the integer factorization assumption. In this paper, we present known plaintext attacks on their scheme and illustrate them with toy examples. Our attack algorithms are quite simple: They require several times of greatest common divisor (GCD) computations using only a few pair of message and ciphertext.
