AbstractProviding fault tolerance in Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) is very tricky activity as nodes migrate from one place to other place and changes network topology. Also MANET is very susceptible for various attacks like DoS attacks etc. So providing security to MANET is also very difficult job. Multipath protocols provide better results than unipath protocols. Multipath protocols provide fault tolerance but many multipath protocols for MANETs not targeted security issues. Distributed and cooperative security that means Intrusion Detection System (IDS) gives better security to MANETs. In this paper we have discussed many confronts and concerns regarding fault tolerance and IDS.
