Meziani, Ahlem, Bourouis, Abdelhabib, Chebout, Mohamed Sedik.  2022.  Neutrosophic Data Analytic Hierarchy Process for Multi Criteria Decision Making: Applied to Supply Chain Risk Management. 2022 International Conference on Advanced Aspects of Software Engineering (ICAASE). :1—6.
Today’s Supply Chains (SC) are engulfed in a maelstrom of risks which arise mainly from uncertain, contradictory, and incomplete information. A decision-making process is required in order to detect threats, assess risks, and implements mitigation methods to address these issues. However, Neutrosophic Data Analytic Hierarchy Process (NDAHP) allows for a more realistic reflection of real-world problems while taking into account all factors that lead to effective risk assessment for Multi Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM). The purpose of this paper consists of an implementation of the NDAHP for MCDM aiming to identifying, ranking, prioritizing and analyzing risks without considering SC’ expert opinions. To that end, we proceed, first, for selecting and analyzing the most 23 relevant risk indicators that have a significant impact on the SC considering three criteria: severity, occurrence, and detection. After that, the NDAHP method is implemented and showcased, on the selected risk indicators, throw an illustrative example. Finally, we discuss the usability and effectiveness of the suggested method for the SCRM purposes.
Ezzahra, Essaber Fatima, Rachid, Benmoussa, Roland, De Guio.  2022.  Toward Lean Green Supply Chain Performance, A Risk Management Approach. 2022 14th International Colloquium of Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LOGISTIQUA). :1—6.
The purpose of this research work is to develop an approach based on risk management with a view to provide managers and decision-makers with assistance and appropriate guidelines to combine Lean and Green in a successful and integrated way. Risk cannot be managed if not well-identified; hence, a classification of supply chain risks in a Lean Green context was provided. Subsequently to risk identification an approach based on Weighted Product Method (WPM) was proposed; for risk assessment and prioritization, for its ease of use, flexibility and board adaptability. The output of this analysis provides visibility about organization's position toward desired performance and underlines crucial risks to be addressed which marks the starting point of the way to performance improvement. A case study was introduced to demonstrate the applicability and relevance of the developed framework.
Mefteh, Syrine, Rosdahl, Alexa L., Fagan, Kaitlin G., Kumar, Anirudh V..  2022.  Evaluating Chemical Supply Chain Criticality in the Water Treatment Industry: A Risk Analysis and Mitigation Model. 2022 Systems and Information Engineering Design Symposium (SIEDS). :73—78.
The assurance of the operability of surface water treatment facilities lies in many factors, but the factor with the largest impact on said assurance is the availability of the necessary chemicals. Facilities across the country vary in their processes and sources, but all require chemicals to produce potable water. The purpose of this project was to develop a risk assessment tool to determine the shortfalls and risks in the water treatment industry's chemical supply chain, which was used to produce a risk mitigation plan ensuring plant operability. To achieve this, a Fault Tree was built to address four main areas of concern: (i) market supply and demand, (ii) chemical substitutability, (iii) chemical transportation, and (iv) chemical storage process. Expert elicitation was then conducted to formulate a Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and develop Radar Charts, regarding the operations and management of specific plants. These tools were then employed to develop a final risk mitigation plan comprising two parts: (i) a quantitative analysis comparing and contrasting the risks of the water treatment plants under study and (ii) a qualitative recommendation for each of the plants-both culminating in a mitigation model on how to control and monitor chemical-related risks.

Logistics risk assessment in the supply chain is considered as one of the important topics that has attracted the attention of researchers in recent years; Companies that struggle to manage their logistical risks by not putting in place resilient strategies to mitigate them, may suffer from significant financial losses; The automotive industry is a vital sector for the Moroccan economy, the year 2020, the added-value of the automotive industry in Morocco is higher than that of the fertilizer (Fathi, n.d.) [1], This sector is considered the first exporter of the country. Our study will focuses on the assessment of the pure logistical risks in the moroccan automotive industry. Our main objective for this study is to assess the logistical risks which will allow us to put in place proactive and predictive resilient strategies for their mitigation.
Mead, Nancy R..  2022.  Critical Infrastructure Protection and Supply Chain Risk Management. 2022 IEEE 30th International Requirements Engineering Conference Workshops (REW). :215—218.
Critical infrastructure is a key area in cybersecurity. In the U.S., it was front and center in 1997 with the report from the President’s Commission on Critical Infrastructure Protection (PCCIP), and now affects countries worldwide. Critical Infrastructure Protection must address all types of cybersecurity threats - insider threat, ransomware, supply chain risk management issues, and so on. Unsurprisingly, in the past 25 years, the risks and incidents have increased rather than decreased and appear in the news daily. As an important component of critical infrastructure protection, secure supply chain risk management must be integrated into development projects. Both areas have important implications for security requirements engineering.

Singh, Inderjeet, Araki, Toshinori, Kakizaki, Kazuya.  2022.  Powerful Physical Adversarial Examples Against Practical Face Recognition Systems. 2022 IEEE/CVF Winter Conference on Applications of Computer Vision Workshops (WACVW). :301–310.
It is well-known that the most existing machine learning (ML)-based safety-critical applications are vulnerable to carefully crafted input instances called adversarial examples (AXs). An adversary can conveniently attack these target systems from digital as well as physical worlds. This paper aims to the generation of robust physical AXs against face recognition systems. We present a novel smoothness loss function and a patch-noise combo attack for realizing powerful physical AXs. The smoothness loss interjects the concept of delayed constraints during the attack generation process, thereby causing better handling of optimization complexity and smoother AXs for the physical domain. The patch-noise combo attack combines patch noise and imperceptibly small noises from different distributions to generate powerful registration-based physical AXs. An extensive experimental analysis found that our smoothness loss results in robust and more transferable digital and physical AXs than the conventional techniques. Notably, our smoothness loss results in a 1.17 and 1.97 times better mean attack success rate (ASR) in physical white-box and black-box attacks, respectively. Our patch-noise combo attack furthers the performance gains and results in 2.39 and 4.74 times higher mean ASR than conventional technique in physical world white-box and black-box attacks, respectively.

Bobbert, Yuri, Scheerder, Jeroen.  2022.  Zero Trust Validation: from Practice to Theory : An empirical research project to improve Zero Trust implementations. 2022 IEEE 29th Annual Software Technology Conference (STC). :93—104.

How can high-level directives concerning risk, cybersecurity and compliance be operationalized in the central nervous system of any organization above a certain complexity? How can the effectiveness of technological solutions for security be proven and measured, and how can this technology be aligned with the governance and financial goals at the board level? These are the essential questions for any CEO, CIO or CISO that is concerned with the wellbeing of the firm. The concept of Zero Trust (ZT) approaches information and cybersecurity from the perspective of the asset to be protected, and from the value that asset represents. Zero Trust has been around for quite some time. Most professionals associate Zero Trust with a particular architectural approach to cybersecurity, involving concepts such as segments, resources that are accessed in a secure manner and the maxim “always verify never trust”. This paper describes the current state of the art in Zero Trust usage. We investigate the limitations of current approaches and how these are addressed in the form of Critical Success Factors in the Zero Trust Framework developed by ON2IT ‘Zero Trust Innovators’ (1). Furthermore, this paper describes the design and engineering of a Zero Trust artefact that addresses the problems at hand (2), according to Design Science Research (DSR). The last part of this paper outlines the setup of an empirical validation trough practitioner oriented research, in order to gain a broader acceptance and implementation of Zero Trust strategies (3). The final result is a proposed framework and associated technology which, via Zero Trust principles, addresses multiple layers of the organization to grasp and align cybersecurity risks and understand the readiness and fitness of the organization and its measures to counter cybersecurity risks.

Culler, Megan J., Morash, Sean, Smith, Brian, Cleveland, Frances, Gentle, Jake.  2021.  A Cyber-Resilience Risk Management Architecture for Distributed Wind. 2021 Resilience Week (RWS). :1–8.
Distributed wind is an electric energy resource segment with strong potential to be deployed in many applications, but special consideration of resilience and cybersecurity is needed to address the unique conditions associated with distributed wind. Distributed wind is a strong candidate to help meet renewable energy and carbon-free energy goals. However, care must be taken as more systems are installed to ensure that the systems are reliable, resilient, and secure. The physical and communications requirements for distributed wind mean that there are unique cybersecurity considerations, but there is little to no existing guidance on best practices for cybersecurity risk management for distributed wind systems specifically. This research develops an architecture for managing cyber risks associated with distributed wind systems through resilience functions. The architecture takes into account the configurations, challenges, and standards for distributed wind to create a risk-focused perspective that considers threats, vulnerabilities, and consequences. We show how the resilience functions of identification, preparation, detection, adaptation, and recovery can mitigate cyber threats. We discuss common distributed wind architectures and interconnections to larger power systems. Because cybersecurity cannot exist independently, the cyber-resilience architecture must consider the system holistically. Finally, we discuss risk assessment recommendations with special emphasis on what sets distributed wind systems apart from other distributed energy resources (DER).

Tall, Anne M., Zou, Cliff C., Wang, Jun.  2021.  Integrating Cybersecurity Into a Big Data Ecosystem. MILCOM 2021 - 2021 IEEE Military Communications Conference (MILCOM). :69—76.
This paper provides an overview of the security service controls that are applied in a big data processing (BDP) system to defend against cyber security attacks. We validate this approach by modeling attacks and effectiveness of security service controls in a sequence of states and transitions. This Finite State Machine (FSM) approach uses the probable effectiveness of security service controls, as defined in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework (RMF). The attacks used in the model are defined in the ATT&CK™ framework. Five different BDP security architecture configurations are considered, spanning from a low-cost default BDP configuration to a more expensive, industry supported layered security architecture. The analysis demonstrates the importance of a multi-layer approach to implementing security in BDP systems. With increasing interest in using BDP systems to analyze sensitive data sets, it is important to understand and justify BDP security architecture configurations with their significant costs. The output of the model demonstrates that over the run time, larger investment in security service controls results in significantly more uptime. There is a significant increase in uptime with a linear increase in security service control investment. We believe that these results support our recommended BDP security architecture. That is, a layered architecture with security service controls integrated into the user interface, boundary, central management of security policies, and applications that incorporate privacy preserving programs. These results enable making BDP systems operational for sensitive data accessed in a multi-tenant environment.

Finally, we considered Assemblyline’s utility in a continuous integration / delivery context using our test results.
Tanimoto, Shigeaki, Matsumoto, Mari, Endo, Teruo, Sato, Hiroyuki, Kanai, Atsushi.  2021.  Risk Management of Fog Computing for Improving IoT Security. 2021 10th International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI). :703—709.
With the spread of the Internet, various devices are now connected to it and the number of IoT devices is increasing. Data generated by IoT devices has traditionally been aggregated in the cloud and processed over time. However, there are two issues with using the cloud. The first is the response delay caused by the long distance between the IoT device and the cloud, and the second is the difficulty of implementing sufficient security measures on the IoT device side due to the limited resources of the IoT device at the end. To address these issues, fog computing, which is located in the middle between IoT devices and the cloud, has been attracting attention as a new network component. However, the risks associated with the introduction of fog computing have not yet been fully investigated. In this study, we conducted a risk assessment of fog computing, which is newly established to promote the use of IoT devices, and identified 24 risk factors. The main countermeasures include the gradual introduction of connected IoT connection protocols and security policy matching. We also demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed risk measures by evaluating the risk values. The proposed risk countermeasures for fog computing should help us to utilize IoT devices in a safe and secure manner.

The presence of the Information Technology System (ITS) has become one of the components for basic needs that must be met in navigating through the ages. Organizational programs in responding to the industrial era 4.0 make the use of ITS is a must in order to facilitate all processes related to quality service in carrying out the main task of protecting and serving the community. The implementation of ITS is actually not easy forthe threat of challenges and disturbances in the form of risks haunts ITS's operations. These conditions must be able to be identified and analyzed and then action can be executed to reduce the negative impact, so the risks are acceptable. This research will study about ITS risk management using the the guideline of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) to formulate an operational strategy in order ensure that STI services at the Papa Oscar Cikeas Data Center (DC) can run well in the form of recommendations. Based on a survey on the implementing elements of IT function, 82.18% of respondents considered that the IT services provided by DC were very important, 86.49% of respondents knew the importance of having an emergency plan to ensure their products and services were always available, and 67.17% of respondents believes that DC is well managed. The results of the study concludes that it is necessary to immediately form a structural DC organization to prepare a good path for the establishment of a professional data center in supporting public service information technology systems.
Cha, Shi-Cho, Shiung, Chuang-Ming, Lin, Gwan-Yen, Hung, Yi-Hsuan.  2021.  A Security Risk Management Framework for Permissioned Blockchain Applications. 2021 IEEE International Conference on Smart Internet of Things (SmartIoT). :301—310.
As permissioned blockchain becomes a common foundation of blockchain-based applications for current organizations, related stakeholders need a means to assess the security risks of the applications. Therefore, this study proposes a security risk management framework for permissioned blockchain applications. The framework divides itself into different implementation stacks and provides guidelines to control the security risks of permissioned blockchain applications. According to the best of our knowledge, this study is the first research that provides a means to evaluate the security risks of permissioned blockchain applications from a holistic point of view. If users can trust the applications that adopted this framework, this study can hopefully contribute to the adoption of permissioned blockchain technologies.

In recent years, new cyber attacks such as targeted attacks have caused extensive damage. With the continuing development of the IoT society, various devices are now connected to the network and are being used for various purposes. The Internet of Things has the potential to link cyber risks to actual property damage, as cyberspace risks are connected to physical space. With this increase in unknown cyber risks, the demand for cyber insurance is increasing. One of the most serious emerging risks is the silent cyber risk, and it is likely to increase in the future. However, at present, security measures against silent cyber risks are insufficient. In this study, we conducted a risk management of silent cyber risk for organizations with the objective of contributing to the development of risk management methods for new cyber risks that are expected to increase in the future. Specifically, we modeled silent cyber risk by focusing on state transitions to different risks. We newly defined two types of silent cyber risk, namely, Alteration risk and Combination risk, and conducted risk assessment. Our assessment identified 23 risk factors, and after analyzing them, we found that all of them were classified as Risk Transference. We clarified that the most effective risk countermeasure for Alteration risk was insurance and for Combination risk was measures to reduce the impact of the risk factors themselves. Our evaluation showed that the silent cyber risk could be reduced by about 50%, thus demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed countermeasures.

He, Ruhai, Wan, Chengpeng, Jiang, Xinchen.  2021.  Risk Management of Port Operations: a Systematic Literature Review and Future Directions. 2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS). :44—51.
With the continuous development of world economy, the trade and connection between countries are getting closer, in which ports are playing an increasingly important role. However, due to the inherent complexity of port operational environment, ports are exposed to various types of hazards and more likely to encounter risks with high frequency and serious consequences. Therefore, proper and effective risk management of ports is particularly essential and necessary. In this research, literature from three aspects including risk assessment of port operations and service, safety management of dangerous goods, and port supply chain risk management was collected and investigated, in order to put forward the future research direction related to the risk management of port operations. The research results show that, firstly, most of the current research mainly focuses on the operational risk of traditional ports and a lot of relevant achievements have been seen. However, few scholars have studied the risk issues of smart ports which are believed to be the trend of future with the rapid development and application of high and new technologies. Thus, it is suggested that more attention should be shifted to the identification and assessment of operational risks of smart ports considering their characteristics. Secondly, although the risk evaluation systems of port operational safety have been established and widely studied, more efforts are still needed in terms of the suitability and effectiveness of the proposed indicators, especially when dangerous goods are involved. Thirdly, risk management of port supply chain is another popular topic, in which, one of the main difficulties lies on the collection of risk related statistics data due to the fact that port supply chain systems are usually huge and complex. It is inevitably that the evaluation results will lack objectivity to some extent. Therefore, it calls for more research on the risk assessment of port supply chains in a quantitative manner. In addition, resilience, as an emerging concept in the transportation field, will provide a new angle on the risk management of port supply chains.
Kusrini, Elisa, Anggarani, Iga, Praditya, Tifa Ayu.  2021.  Analysis of Supply Chain Security Management Systems Based on ISO 28001: 2007: Case Study Leather Factory in Indonesia. 2021 IEEE 8th International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Applications (ICIEA). :471—477.
The international Supply Chains (SC) have expanded rapidly over the decades and also consist of many entities and business partners. The increasing complexity of supply chain makes it more vulnerable to a security threat. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate security management systems to ensure the flow of goods in SC. In this paper we used international standards to assess the security of the company's supply chain compliance with ISO 28001. Supply chain security that needs to be assessed includes all inbound logistics activities to outbound logistics. The aim of this research is to analyse the security management system by identifying security threat, consequences, and likelihood to develop adequate countermeasures for the security of the company's supply chain. Security risk assessment was done using methodology compliance with ISO 28001 which are identify scope of security assessment, conduct security assessment, list applicable threat scenario, determine consequences, determine likelihood, determine risk score, risk evaluation using risk matrix, determine counter measures, and estimation of risk matrix after countermeasures. This research conducted in one of the leather factory in Indonesia. In this research we divided security threat into five category: asset security, personnel security, information security, goods and conveyance security, and closed cargo transport units. The security assessment was conducted by considering the performance review according to ISO 28001: 2007 and the results show that there are 22 security threat scenarios in the company's supply chain. Based upon a system of priorities by risk score, countermeasures are designed to reduce the threat into acceptable level.
Mostafa, Abdelrahman Ibrahim, Rashed, Abdelrahman Mostafa, Alsherif, Yasmin Ashraf, Enien, Yomna Nagah, Kaoud, Menatalla, Mohib, Ahmed.  2021.  Supply Chain Risk Assessment Using Fuzzy Logic. 2021 3rd Novel Intelligent and Leading Emerging Sciences Conference (NILES). :246—251.
Business's strength arises from the strength of its supply chain. Therefore, a proper supply chain management is vital for business continuity. One of the most challenging parts of SCM is the contract negotiation, and one main aspect of the negotiation is to know the risk associated with each range of quantity agreed on. Currently Managers assess the quantity to be supplied based on a binary way of either full or 0 supply, This paper aims to assess the corresponding quantities risks of the suppliers on a multilayer basis. The proposed approach uses fuzzy logic as an artificial intelligence tool that would develop the verbal terms of managers into numbers to be dealt with. A company that produces fresh frozen vegetables and fruits in Egypt who faces the problem of getting the required quantities from the suppliers with a fulfilment rate of 33% was chosen to apply the proposed model. The model allowed the managers to have full view of risk in their supply chain effectively and decide their needed capacity as well as the negotiation terms with both suppliers and customers. Future work should be the use of more data in the fuzzy database and implement the proposed methodology in an another industry.

Kieras, Timothy, Farooq, Muhammad Junaid, Zhu, Quanyan.  2020.  RIoTS: Risk Analysis of IoT Supply Chain Threats. 2020 IEEE 6th World Forum on Internet of Things (WF-IoT). :1—6.
Securing the supply chain of information and communications technology (ICT) has recently emerged as a critical concern for national security and integrity. With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and their increasing role in controlling real world infrastructure, there is a need to analyze risks in networked systems beyond established security analyses. Existing methods in literature typically leverage attack and fault trees to analyze malicious activity and its impact. In this paper, we develop RIoTS, a security risk assessment framework borrowing from system reliability theory to incorporate the supply chain. We also analyze the impact of grouping within suppliers that may pose hidden risks to the systems from malicious supply chain actors. The results show that the proposed analysis is able to reveal hidden threats posed to the IoT ecosystem from potential supplier collusion.
Xu, Rong-Zhen, He, Meng-Ke.  2020.  Application of Deep Learning Neural Network in Online Supply Chain Financial Credit Risk Assessment. 2020 International Conference on Computer Information and Big Data Applications (CIBDA). :224—232.
Under the background of "Internet +", in order to solve the problem of deeply mining credit risk behind online supply chain financial big data, this paper proposes an online supply chain financial credit risk assessment method based on deep belief network (DBN). First, a deep belief network evaluation model composed of Restricted Boltzmann Machine (RBM) and classifier SOFTMAX is established, and the performance evaluation test of three kinds of data sets is carried out by using this model. Using factor analysis to select 8 indicators from 21 indicators, and then input them into RBM for conversion to form a more scientific evaluation index, and finally input them into SOFTMAX for evaluation. This method of online supply chain financial credit risk assessment based on DBN is applied to an example for verification. The results show that the evaluation accuracy of this method is 96.04%, which has higher evaluation accuracy and better rationality compared with SVM method and Logistic method.
Benabdallah, Chaima, El-Amraoui, Adnen, Delmotte, François, Frikha, Ahmed.  2020.  An integrated rough-DEMA℡ method for sustainability risk assessment in agro-food supply chain. 2020 5th International Conference on Logistics Operations Management (GOL). :1—9.
In the recent years, sustainability has becoming an important topic in agro-food supply chain. Moreover, these supply chains are more vulnerable due to different interrelated risks from man-made and natural disasters. However, most of the previous studies consider less about interrelation in assessing sustainability risks. The purpose of this research is to develop a framework to assess supply chain sustainability risks by rnking environmental risks, economic risks, social risks and operational risks. To solve this problem, the proposed methodology is an integrated rough decision- making and trial evaluation laboratory (DEMA℡) method that consider the interrelationship between different risks and the group preference diversity. In order to evaluate the applicability of the proposed method, a real-world case study of Tunisian agro-food company is presented. The results show that the most important risks are corruption, inflation and uncertainty in supply and demand.
hong, Xue, zhifeng, Liao, yuan, Wang, ruidi, Xu, zhuoran, Xu.  2020.  Research on risk severity decision of cluster supply chain based on data flow fuzzy clustering. 2020 Chinese Control And Decision Conference (CCDC). :2810—2815.
Based on the analysis of cluster supply chain risk characteristics, starting from the analysis of technical risk dimensions, information risk dimensions, human risk dimensions, and capital risk dimensions, a cluster supply chain risk severity assessment index system is designed. The fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm based on data flow is used to cluster each supply chain, analyze the risk severity of the supply chain, and evaluate the decision of the supply chain risk severity level based on the cluster weights and cluster center range. Based on the analytic hierarchy process, the risk severity of the entire clustered supply chain is made an early warning decision, and the clustered supply chain risk severity early warning level is obtained. The results of simulation experiments verify the feasibility of the decision method for cluster supply chain risk severity, and improve the theoretical support for cluster supply chain risk severity prediction.
