Cryptographic Data Security for IoT Healthcare in 5G and Beyond Networks. 2022 IEEE Sensors. :1—4.
.
2022. While 5G Edge Computing along with IoT technology has transformed the future of healthcare data transmission, it presents security vulnerabilities and risks when transmitting patients' confidential information. Currently, there are very few reliable security solutions available for healthcare data that routes through SDN routers in 5G Edge Computing. These solutions do not provide cryptographic security from IoT sensor devices. In this paper, we studied how 5G edge computing integrated with IoT network helps healthcare data transmission for remote medical treatment, explored security risks associated with unsecured data transmission, and finally proposed a cryptographic end-to-end security solution initiated at IoT sensor devices and routed through SDN routers. Our proposed solution with cryptographic security initiated at IoT sensor goes through SDN control plane and data plane in 5G edge computing and provides an end-to-end secured communication from IoT device to doctor's office. A prototype built with two-layer encrypted communication has been lab tested with promising results. This analysis will help future security implementation for eHealth in 5G and beyond networks.
Current Trends in Internet of Things Forensics. 2022 International Arab Conference on Information Technology (ACIT). :1—5.
.
2022. Digital forensics is essential when performing in-depth crime investigations and evidence extraction, especially in the field of the Internet of Things, where there is a ton of information every second boosted with latest and smartest technological devices. However, the enormous growth of data and the nature of its complexity could constrain the data examination process since traditional data acquisition techniques are not applicable nowadays. Therefore, if the knowledge gap between digital forensics and the Internet of Things is not bridged, investigators will jeopardize the loss of a possible rich source of evidence that otherwise could act as a lead in solving open cases. The work aims to introduce examples of employing the latest Internet of Things forensics approaches as a panacea in this regard. The paper covers a variety of articles presenting the new Blockchain, fog, and video-based applications that can aid in easing the process of digital forensics investigation with a focus on the Internet of Things. The results of the review indicated that the above current trends are very promising procedures in the field of Internet of Things digital forensics and need to be explored and applied more actively.

2022. Cyber security is everybody's responsibility. It is the capability of the person to protect or secure the use of cyberspace from cyber-attacks. Cyber security awareness is the combination of both knowing and doing to safeguard one's personal information or assets. Online threats continue to rise in the Philippines which is the focus of this study, to identify the level of cyber security awareness among the students and teachers of Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC) Philippines. Results shows that the level of cyber security awareness in terms of Knowledge, majority of the students and teachers got the passing score and above however there are almost fifty percent got below the passing score. In terms of Practices, both the teachers and the students need to strengthen the awareness of system and browser updates to boost the security level of the devices used. More than half of the IT students are aware of the basic cyber security protocol but there is a big percentage in the Non-IT students which is to be considered. Majority of the teachers are aware of the basic cyber security protocols however the remaining number must be looked into. There is a need to intensity the awareness of the students in the proper etiquette in using the social media. Boost the basic cyber security awareness training to all students and teachers to avoid cybercrime victims.
Cybersecurity maturity model for the protection and privacy of personal health data. 2022 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies on Education & Research (ICALTER). :1—4.
.
2022. This paper proposes a cybersecurity maturity model to assess the capabilities of medical organizations to identify their level of maturity, prioritizing privacy and personal data protection. There are problems such as data breaches, the lack of security measures in health information, and the poor capacity of organizations to handle cybersecurity threats that generate concern in the health sector as they seek to mitigate risks in cyberspace. The proposal, based upon C2M2 (Cybersecurity Capability Maturity Model), incorporates practices and controls which allow organizations to identify security gaps generated through cyberattacks on sensitive health patient data. This model seeks to integrate the best practices related to privacy and protection of personal data in the Peruvian legal framework through the Administrative Directive No. 294-MINSA and the personal data protection Act No. 29733. The model consists of 3 evaluation phases. 1. Assessment planning; 2. Execution of the evaluation; 3. Implementation of improvements. The model was validated and tested in a public sector medical organization in Lima, Peru. The preliminary results showed that the organization is at Level 1 with 14% of compliance with established controls, 34% in risk, threat and vulnerability management practices and 19% in supply chain management. These the 3 highest percentages of the 10 evaluated domains.
CySec Game: A Framework and Tool for Cyber Risk Assessment and Security Investment Optimization in Critical Infrastructures. 2022 Resilience Week (RWS). :1–6.
.
2022. Cyber physical system (CPS) Critical infrastructures (CIs) like the power and energy systems are increasingly becoming vulnerable to cyber attacks. Mitigating cyber risks in CIs is one of the key objectives of the design and maintenance of these systems. These CPS CIs commonly use legacy devices for remote monitoring and control where complete upgrades are uneconomical and infeasible. Therefore, risk assessment plays an important role in systematically enumerating and selectively securing vulnerable or high-risk assets through optimal investments in the cybersecurity of the CPS CIs. In this paper, we propose a CPS CI security framework and software tool, CySec Game, to be used by the CI industry and academic researchers to assess cyber risks and to optimally allocate cybersecurity investments to mitigate the risks. This framework uses attack tree, attack-defense tree, and game theory algorithms to identify high-risk targets and suggest optimal investments to mitigate the identified risks. We evaluate the efficacy of the framework using the tool by implementing a smart grid case study that shows accurate analysis and feasible implementation of the framework and the tool in this CPS CI environment.
Data Acquisition and extraction on mobile devices-A Review. 2022 IEEE International Workshop on Metrology for Industry 4.0 & IoT (MetroInd4.0&IoT). :294—299.
.
2022. Forensic Science comprises a set of technical-scientific knowledge used to solve illicit acts. The increasing use of mobile devices as the main computing platform, in particular smartphones, makes existing information valuable for forensics. However, the blocking mechanisms imposed by the manufacturers and the variety of models and technologies make the task of reconstructing the data for analysis challenging. It is worth mentioning that the conclusion of a case requires more than the simple identification of evidence, as it is extremely important to correlate all the data and sources obtained, to confirm a suspicion or to seek new evidence. This work carries out a systematic review of the literature, identifying the different types of existing image acquisition and the main extraction and encryption methods used in smartphones with the Android operating system.

DDoS Attack Detection and Botnet Prevention using Machine Learning. 2022 8th International Conference on Advanced Computing and Communication Systems (ICACCS). 1:1159–1163.
.
2022. One of the major threats in the cyber security and networking world is a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack. With massive development in Science and Technology, the privacy and security of various organizations are concerned. Computer Intrusion and DDoS attacks have always been a significant issue in networked environments. DDoS attacks result in non-availability of services to the end-users. It interrupts regular traffic flow and causes a flood of flooded packets, causing the system to crash. This research presents a Machine Learning-based DDoS attack detection system to overcome this challenge. For the training and testing purpose, we have used the NSL-KDD Dataset. Logistic Regression Classifier, Support Vector Machine, K Nearest Neighbour, and Decision Tree Classifier are examples of machine learning algorithms which we have used to train our model. The accuracy gained are 90.4, 90.36, 89.15 and 82.28 respectively. We have added a feature called BOTNET Prevention, which scans for Phishing URLs and prevents a healthy device from being a part of the botnet.

DDOS Attack Detection and Prevention using the Bat Optimized Load Distribution Algorithm in Cloud. 2022 International Interdisciplinary Humanitarian Conference for Sustainability (IIHC). :633–642.
.
2022. Cloud computing provides a great platform for the users to utilize the various computational services in order accomplish their requests. However it is difficult to utilize the computational storage services for the file handling due to the increased protection issues. Here Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks are the most commonly found attack which will prevent from cloud service utilization. Thus it is confirmed that the DDoS attack detection and load balancing in cloud are most extreme issues which needs to be concerned more for the improved performance. This attained in this research work by measuring up the trust factors of virtual machines in order to predict the most trustable VMs which will be combined together to form the trustable source vector. After trust evaluation, in this work Bat algorithm is utilized for the optimal load distribution which will predict the optimal VM resource for the task allocation with the concern of budget. This method is most useful in the process of detecting the DDoS attacks happening on the VM resources. Finally prevention of DDOS attacks are performed by introducing the Fuzzy Extreme Learning Machine Classifier which will learn the cloud resource setup details based on which DDoS attack detection can be prevented. The overall performance of the suggested study design is performed in a Java simulation model to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed algorithm over the current research method.

Not only can it greatly improve the accuracy of attack detection, but it can also reduce the time for classifying and detecting network traffic, so that the transmission of DDoS attack traffic can be blocked in time to ensure the availability of network services.
DDoS attack mitigation in cloud targets using scale-inside out assisted container separation. IEEE INFOCOM 2022 - IEEE Conference on Computer Communications Workshops (INFOCOM WKSHPS). :1–6.
.
2022. From the past few years, DDoS attack incidents are continuously rising across the world. DDoS attackers have also shifted their target towards cloud environments as majority of services have shifted their operations to cloud. Various authors proposed distinct solutions to minimize the DDoS attacks effects on victim services and co-located services in cloud environments. In this work, we propose an approach by utilizing incoming request separation at the container-level. In addition, we advocate to employ scale-inside out [10] approach for all the suspicious requests. In this manner, we achieve the request serving of all the authenticated benign requests even in the presence of an attack. We also improve the usages of scale-inside out approach by applying it to a container which is serving the suspicious requests in a separate container. The results of our proposed technique show a significant decrease in the response time of benign users during the DDoS attack as compared with existing solutions.
DDoS Attack using SYN Flooding: A Case Study. 2022 9th International Conference on Computing for Sustainable Global Development (INDIACom). :323–329.
.
2022. Undoubtedly, technology has not only transformed our world of work and lifestyle, but it also carries with it a lot of security challenges. The Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack is one of the most prominent attacks witnessed by cyberspace of the current era. This paper outlines several DDoS attacks, their mitigation stages, propagation of attacks, malicious codes, and finally provides redemptions of exhibiting normal and DDoS attacked scenarios. A case study of a SYN flooding attack has been exploited by using Metasploit. The utilization of CPU frame length and rate have been observed in normal and attacked phases. Preliminary results clearly show that in a normal scenario, CPU usage is about 20%. However, in attacked phases with the same CPU load, CPU execution overhead is nearly 90% or 100%. Thus, through this research, the major difference was found in CPU usage, frame length, and degree of data flow. Wireshark tool has been used for network traffic analyzer.
Debugger-driven Embedded Fuzzing. 2022 IEEE Conference on Software Testing, Verification and Validation (ICST). :483–485.
.
2022. Embedded Systems - the hidden computers in our lives - are deployed in the billionths and are already in the focus of attackers. They pose security risks when not tested and maintained thoroughly. In recent years, fuzzing has become a promising technique for automated security testing of programs, which can generate tons of test inputs for a program. Fuzzing is hardly applied to embedded systems, because of their high diversity and closed character. During my research I want tackle that gap in fuzzing embedded systems - short: “Embedded Fuzzing”. My goal is to obtain insights of the embedded system during execution, by using common debugging interfaces and hardware breakpoints to enable guided fuzzing in a generic and widely applicable way. Debugging interfaces and hardware breakpoints are available for most common microcontrollers, generating a potential industry impact. Preliminary results show that the approach covers basic blocks faster than blackbox fuzzing. Additionally, it is source code agnostic and leaves the embedded firmware unaltered.

The DecCert PKI: A Solution to Decentralized Identity Attestation and Zooko’s Triangle. 2022 IEEE International Conference on Decentralized Applications and Infrastructures (DAPPS). :74–82.
.
2022. We propose DecCert, a decentralized public key infrastructure designed as a smart contract that solves the problem of identity attestation on public blockchains. Our system allows an individual to bind an identity to a public blockchain address. Once a claim of identity is made by an individual, other users can choose to verify the attested identity based on the evidence presented by an identity claim maker by staking cryptocurrency in the DecCert smart contract. Increasing levels of trust are naturally built based upon the amount staked and the duration the collateral is staked for. This mechanism replaces the usual utilization of digital signatures in a traditional hierarchical certificate authority model or the web of trust model to form a publicly verifiable decentralized stake of trust model. We also present a novel solution to the certificate revocation problem and implement our solution on the Ethereum blockchain. Further, we show that our design solves Zooko’s triangle as defined for public key infrastructure deployments.

Deep Learning Technique Based Intrusion Detection in Cyber-Security Networks. 2022 IEEE 2nd Mysore Sub Section International Conference (MysuruCon). :1–7.
.
2022. As a result of the inherent weaknesses of the wireless medium, ad hoc networks are susceptible to a broad variety of threats and assaults. As a direct consequence of this, intrusion detection, as well as security, privacy, and authentication in ad-hoc networks, have developed into a primary focus of current study. This body of research aims to identify the dangers posed by a variety of assaults that are often seen in wireless ad-hoc networks and provide strategies to counteract those dangers. The Black hole assault, Wormhole attack, Selective Forwarding attack, Sybil attack, and Denial-of-Service attack are the specific topics covered in this thesis. In this paper, we describe a trust-based safe routing protocol with the goal of mitigating the interference of black hole nodes in the course of routing in mobile ad-hoc networks. The overall performance of the network is negatively impacted when there are black hole nodes in the route that routing takes. As a result, we have developed a routing protocol that reduces the likelihood that packets would be lost as a result of black hole nodes. This routing system has been subjected to experimental testing in order to guarantee that the most secure path will be selected for the delivery of packets between a source and a destination. The invasion of wormholes into a wireless network results in the segmentation of the network as well as a disorder in the routing. As a result, we provide an effective approach for locating wormholes by using ordinal multi-dimensional scaling and round trip duration in wireless ad hoc networks with either sparse or dense topologies. Wormholes that are linked by both short route and long path wormhole linkages may be found using the approach that was given. In order to guarantee that this ad hoc network does not include any wormholes that go unnoticed, this method is subjected to experimental testing. In order to fight against selective forwarding attacks in wireless ad-hoc networks, we have developed three different techniques. The first method is an incentive-based algorithm that makes use of a reward-punishment system to drive cooperation among three nodes for the purpose of vi forwarding messages in crowded ad-hoc networks. A unique adversarial model has been developed by our team, and inside it, three distinct types of nodes and the activities they participate in are specified. We have shown that the suggested strategy that is based on incentives prohibits nodes from adopting an individualistic behaviour, which ensures collaboration in the process of packet forwarding. To guarantee that intermediate nodes in resource-constrained ad-hoc networks accurately convey packets, the second approach proposes a game theoretic model that uses non-cooperative game theory. This model is based on the idea that game theory may be used. This game reaches a condition of desired equilibrium, which assures that cooperation in multi-hop communication is physically possible, and it is this state that is discovered. In the third algorithm, we present a detection approach that locates malicious nodes in multihop hierarchical ad-hoc networks by employing binary search and control packets. We have shown that the cluster head is capable of accurately identifying the malicious node by analysing the sequences of packets that are dropped along the path leading from a source node to the cluster head. A lightweight symmetric encryption technique that uses Binary Playfair is presented here as a means of safeguarding the transport of data. We demonstrate via experimentation that the suggested encryption method is efficient with regard to the amount of energy used, the amount of time required for encryption, and the memory overhead. This lightweight encryption technique is used in clustered wireless ad-hoc networks to reduce the likelihood of a sybil attack occurring in such networks
Deep Learning Toward Preventing Web Attacks. 2022 5th International Conference on Computing and Informatics (ICCI). :280–285.
.
2022. Cyberattacks are one of the most pressing issues of our time. The impact of cyberthreats can damage various sectors such as business, health care, and governments, so one of the best solutions to deal with these cyberattacks and reduce cybersecurity threats is using Deep Learning. In this paper, we have created an in-depth study model to detect SQL Injection Attacks and Cross-Site Script attacks. We focused on XSS on the Stored-XSS attack type because SQL and Stored-XSS have similar site management methods. The advantage of combining deep learning with cybersecurity in our system is to detect and prevent short-term attacks without human interaction, so our system can reduce and prevent web attacks. This post-training model achieved a more accurate result more than 99% after maintaining the learning level, and 99% of our test data is determined by this model if this input is normal or dangerous.
